A lot of people on FB have been spruiking coconut oil as a general cure all for all sorts of things. Seems to be the supplement of choice at the moment. I have no opinion on it either way.

On the topic of dogs in cars, I was in Bunnings today. 30+ degree heat when a call came over the tannoy for the owner of a car to get back immediately because of an animal in the car.

Clicking is better than scrolling.

Gets a bit muddy doesnt it - when the controlling body is responsible for designing and maintaining and policing the code of ethics says it's completely ethical for someone to sell puppies to an overseas pet shop or an Australian pet shop as long as they are PIAA that its O.K. to sell to agents as long as they are PIAA - and this is the criteria which was used for someone to determine whether they wanted to join or remain a member or not -that they determined that they had the same philosophies and they fitted what was being asked of them no amount of personal opinion or change in how society perceive it all the fact remains that according to the group that they belong to it is completely ethical. At the end of the day the only ones any breeder has to answer to regarding their ethics is the group they belong to - in Asal's case it was Dogs NSW .May not fit with some other people's idea of what is ethical but its not possible for everyone to see things the same way anyway as long as that clause is in the CC codes those things are considered ethical by those standards for their members - the only ones that count. Steve, i don't think it's at all muddy and unless you have removed the membership criteria of not selling to pet shops from your MDBA criteria then neither do you.

That's terrific! I'm so glad it's worked out.

Someone said to me years ago that you could always tell a certain line of dogs because of their movement.

An terriers, they're such independent little buggers. Even Princess Mini, who for a kerry blue is a most biddable girl, has a 'so what are you going to do about it?' stubborn streak. crickets, it's lovely to see Bobby coming into himself under your care!

That's great to know, stellnme! No tummy issues from it?

asal, there is only one ethical way for a breeder not to deal with Joe Public and that one way isn't to sell puppies to someone who stocks pet shops in the USA. The one way is not to be a breeder.

Dear me, exaggeration much? Hankdog is most likely correct. Happy, normal people don't usually dislike certain breeds of dogs, to the point where they will take a photo and threaten to report someone for having a dog that may look something like a pit bull. The term 'bitter old busybody' comes to mind. Staffyluv, if you see her taking your photo again, I would suggest you take a photo of her, and advise her that it's evidence if she continues to stalk you. It may make her think about her actions. Then you're as bad as hankdog. There is no evidence to suggest this. There is no evidence even to suggest the woman dislikes a certain breed of dog, only that she though Staffyluv's dog should be muzzled. People shouldn't be quite so ridiculous.

It's natural to have dogs within one breed with variations in features, and natural for some of these variations to be 'exaggerations', but for one of these to actually win at a show sends the wrong message. If they make you shudder, should they be winning? Even if there are only a handful that do? That sends the message to the breeder, and the other breeders involved in the same breed, that those exaggerations are desirable. I think the judges ought to take a long hard look at themselves, and how they are shaping the dogs, and how that is affecting the purebreed community. Their influence, by awarding (and rewarding) certain traits, is why we are having this debate in the first place. I'm sorry but that's a crock of..... the blame lays squarely with the breeder of such animals Doesn't the pool of judges usually come from from the pool of breeders?

When I realised Grumpy's eyesight was getting worse I bought a bunch of sensor lights from Bunnings to light his way around the house at night. They attach to the wall via a magnet.

No, thankfully I have a 2-3 seater as well....or at least a tiny bit of one anyway! As soon as I sit down they scramble over one either side and the little squeeze in the middle is all I have That look says, 'You're not going to sit down here, are you?'

Guess what arrived in the mail today, westiemum?

I don't know why but I lack sympathy regarding this failed business.

How fabulous, Rozzie. What a dear little man. -
I would recommend a blog style layout these days every time. Have the important info on pages and have updates in blog posts. Wordpress every time. It looks smart and is easy to use. You can buy add-ons like a photo gallery, video, etc. I wouldn't but some people would because dogs are cute and fluffy and don't kill things.

Aircon on a timer is what I do

I think for some breeders the export market was always more attractive. Perhaps the large number of breeders who were selling to McWossname are no longer doing so and have thus stopped breeding.
-
I didn't imply anything. I asked if you had mentored anyone. You need to stop the instant paranoia, asal, your arguments could be a little more cogent without it.
-
The reason I mention it is because YOU ALWAYS DO. Every time one of these threads comes up, you bring it up. As I pointed out early in the thread, the Maltese is being bred in greater numbers than other breeds, including my own, so I don't think it will be an extinct breed any time soon. As to where new breeders are coming from, I put some pf the reason for it fair square at the feet of older breeders. I posted in the numbers thread that Steve posted that it's all co-ownership and breeders terms these days, rather than mentoring younger people. No one replied to contradict me so I guess I was right. You were a breeder. Where are the people you mentored or didn't you?
-
asal, if you paused in reflection for a moment, as I said before, you might realise that YOUR enemies are people from your own breed. They're the ones who called in the RSPCA on you. I would dearly love to comprehend what you're on about otherwise but, sorry, the stream of consciousness randomness is often beyond me.

Would also like to add that I'm very fond of the kerry blondes.

Are you sitting on the floor these days, cricket?

Dear me, exaggeration much? Surely it has to be more than boredom that is motivating her. The evidence is that the woman objected to Staffyluv's dog not wearing a muzzle in public. It's ridiculous to extrapolate that into the woman is unfulfilled and wants to have dogs destroyed.
