  1. Can only vote once due to facebook, but you're with us in spirit!
  2. Monopoly is replacing one of the tokens on the board and they're asking people to vote for which one. KEEP THE SCOTTIE! https://www.facebook...?ref=ts&fref=ts
  3. Mini does this, too. She does love her buried treasure! If she buries a treat and her scratching round unearths it, she gobbles it down as if to say, 'Wow, where did that come from?' She always seems so surprised!
  4. Lovely Inka, RIP. The oldies touch our hearts so deeply. They're wise, funny, and still puppies inside. I just read your post about your Mum. Honestly, I don't know how I'd have coped if I didn't still have Mini with me. She has been my rock and despite some funny little 'I'm by myself now!' behaviours, she has stepped up and really has taken charge.
  5. Thank you, both. Random bouts of crying, which is a bit awkward particularly at work.
  6. Can't recall, Jed, but it was some sort of meat product like jerky.
  7. Someone o/s sent me a present once and included something for the dog. I got a polite note from AQIS saying, 'Please tell your friend not to do that again.'
  8. I have been wondering why the RSPCA won't do anything other than call them. To me it's clearly neglect but aside from being horrified, they won't do anything other than call?
  9. Hah, dyzney, that video is hilarious! Grumpy used to sleep with his tongue out. One of the oddest nights was when he turned into Mr Spaceman in his sleep. He was growling and snapping at something. I gave him a nudge and said, 'Go back to sleep' which he promptly did. Actually since he died, I've not been sleeping too well because he snored and I was so used to that, it's difficult to sleep in the quiet. Mini doesn't snore at all. She's so quiet, though she sometimes gives these little contented sighs, which are very cute.
  10. That's terrific. Wellness didn't do anything for my Grumpy and I switched him over to Holistic Select Anchovy and Salmon but it just goes to show that the best food for a dog is the food the dog does best on.
  11. RSPCA? I mean, yes, but at least they could put the frighteners on.
  12. This is the product info for Vetace: http://www.jurox.com.au/products/cardiorespiratory/vetace_tablets_for_dogs_and_cats/ You could also ask if it could be compounded at a lower cost. There is a veterinary lab in Sydney, I think, that does compounding. I was going to get Grumpy's Trilostane compounded as it was considerably cheaper but didn't get around to it before he died.
  13. I recall being asked by someone if there was any money in dog grooming because someone she knew was considering buying a mobile grooming franchise. My first question was whether this person knew anything about dogs (having figured from the question that an experienced groomer would already know whether there was any money in it). The answer was no, this person didn't even have a dog, but thought there was money in it. I stressed that I would always ask what experience a groomer had and someone with no experience with dogs would soon come a-cropper.
  14. Yes, I particularly wanted Grumpy's vet to come to the house. It would have been awful with a stranger. I don't know if he regularly does house calls but he came for Grumpy.
  15. The sky was quite red this morning but it's cleared now.
  16. I agree with Alkhe. It must be so very hard for you but it's also very hard to pick through Internet advice sometimes.
  17. My only concern would be that the dog doesn't know this vet. That's important in some cases.
  18. Agree, Minimax, we all react differently. This has obviously upset Mantis and I think we need to understand that and treat her concerns with respect and care. Plus, Mantis has had a situation before where a reactive dog was created because a particular scenario. I don't recall the exact details but this must be a bad reminder. I can understand the upset but agree that the best response is to ignore the guy and go business as usual.
  19. Well, despite the bluntness, Pav has a point. This guy threatened to sue you for harassment, which is daft as he is the one breaking the law. You can take your dog out but you're choosing not to. As people have said, ignore him. If he confronts you, ignore him and keep walking. Take a walking stick with you and if his dog approaches you, give the dog a bellow and raise the stick. Report him again to the council ranger and the property manager. Don't say anything to him.
  20. I haven't heard of them but Grumpy's vet came to the house. That's always an option.
  21. I stayed with Grumpy the whole day during the 8 hour test.
  22. There are two specific tests for Cushings: the first is the ACTH Stim test, which takes around two hours. The other one is the low dose dexamethasone suppression test. That one takes eight hours, so she would be there all day. If all they've done is take a blood sample then she's not had either test. You'd remember being at the vet for two or eight hours, I think!
