  1. I didn't start any supplements with Grumpy until he started slowing down which is when he was 14 or so. He didn't slow down completely until Cushings set in at 16. Unless the dog is injury prone or has obvious signs of arthritis or similar, it seems odd to give supplements.
  2. You can look at LDH as an example of a shelter that won't really deal with any rescue, because the unethical ones have broken any trust. That isn't really a good thing overall. Ideally we would have ethical government working with ethical rescue. Both need to put community safety as their first priority. I don't think you can use LDH as any example. They worked with one rescue who pulled out themselves not the other way around. Unethical rescues and other ethical rescues never got a look in.
  3. we already up poo creek and there's nothing we can do to change it, we may as well sit back, breed while we still can and enjoy the dogs. The canine councils sell us out at every opportunity that presents. I used to be quite passionate and care but when you start worrying constantly about not being able to breed and all of the legislation and restrictions that are coming into place, you just send yourself mad. I'm quite happy to promote my dogs by producing happy healthy animals that my puppy buyers enjoy and that's good enough for me You get the canine council you vote in.
  4. Are you ready Sheridan...... I can take that dog (even though I am a tosser and have no clue and drug dogs etc, etc, and if you pts this dog all hell will break loose (legally and via the media) So give me the dog or else! And they fell for that?
  5. Yes, It was a formal meeting GM and everything is logged within council chambers. Shmoo was with me at the meeting and we both spent over a month getting everything together. I took it further after that with the CEO and the Mayor etc. When was this, Nic.B?
  6. I think I posted earlier querying why she was release to rescue because I couldn't see that anywhere.
  7. IMO BCC. If they are not able to BA the dog they had better make sure the dog goes to a reputable rescue who has the finances, ability and commitment to work through assesments and rehabilitation. Both BCC and HP have enough info and experience to know that PR's will not meet any of the essential requirements. Then that is down to the pounds. PR is simply taking advantage of them not doing their jobs properly. So, my question is, why aren't the pounds being smacked around for allowing DA dogs to be released? No, it all comes down to council. Re your last comment; it is council allowing RTRO dogs going to knowingly an unreputable group. The Council doesn't release the dogs. The pounds do.
  8. The dog that PR took last week (Venna?) was on both.

  10. Received this from City of Greater Geelong.
  11. I agree, play rather than power walking would be best for development. It's great you're asking questions. Some really good advice on these forums. :)
  12. Mini has decided she likes steak. She is the pickiest eater yet vacuumed down the steak I got her for her gotcha day. I advised her not to get used to it. NO GRAPES! TOXIC! BAD!
  13. Well, if stories from DOLers are any indication then PR is taking DA dogs that Blacktown have deemed suitable for rehoming. Who's fault is that then? Blacktown's, I think.
  14. I have talked about this for years and have been howled down by people on this forum.
  15. Caz, you keep posting as many pictures of Buddy as you want. Such a gentle sweet boy.
  16. Do they do behavioural assessments at Blacktown?
  17. Today was Grumpy's 17th birthday. Princess Mini and I miss him so very much.
  18. So, she would have said yes but is whinging about not getting any money.
  19. To be fair, a lot of dogs can be rehabilitated as seen by the work done by Best Friends in Utah. That said, Best Friends is a unique set up, with highly experience trainers and behaviouralists specialising in canine behaviour. They have successfully rehabilitated traumatised fighting dogs belonging to Michael Vick, for instance. However, I have seen a number of episodes where they say that because of a dog's issues, it cannot go to a home and will spend the rest of its life at Best Friends. This isn't kennelling, however, as the centre does provide a stimulating pack environment. I think much can be learned by the Best Friends set-up but only by the logical, the clear-headed, and the rational. Anyone else need not apply.
  20. It would be good to know which salon this is (and indeed which salon is responsible for Buddy's death).
  21. If this has happened more than once, why are they still in business?
  22. You know rather a lot about the business of PR for someone who says you only like the page.
  23. I see that Tbroil is avoiding responding to certain posts.
