tdierixz said that if you have a dog who will react to being rushed by on off leash dog, we should not walk them. As you know this is a sore point for me, having had a friendly dog turned FA because of off leash dogs, it isn't fair that people who do the right thing are expected to keep their dogs prisoners, just because they are large & can hurt an attacking dog of any size. I know that but I can't see how tdierixz is saying break the law? If you want to defend the dog that killed this schnauzer then you're well out of line. This isn't actually about you or Kenny.

Now, Nic.B may have got the wrong in her response but that really does deserve a :banghead:, Santo66. I don't know why you, mymatejack and Mantis don't understand this simple point: one dog killing another = bad. It's a pretty simple thing that has nothing to with the size of the dog.

I think, Mantis, that no one here has said that people should not follow the law.

A mini wouldn't be much more than 8kg if that, still no match for 25/30kg dog.....a GSD is considered a medium sized dog so a mini Schnauzer is still quite a small dog I would think? The point is, since you and mymatejack have missed it, this is about a mini schnauzer that was killed. You and others have come in bitching about little dogs as if that excuses one dog killing another. Just stop it.

You do know that the dog killed on the beach was a mini schnauzer. They are not a little dog.

Some breeds have never been popular. Look at the recent Maltese thread bemoaning that only 290-something Maltese were bred in the last year. As I commented at the time, those would be pretty high numbers for some breeds. And frankly, I don't want my breeds to be popular.

Cute little dogs. They have the Manchester Terrier look to them but with bigger ears from what I can tell from the pictures.

Given that we are all interpreting your posts the same way, perhaps the issue is in the delivery rather than the interpretation. What it means is that that dog that killed should not be allowed off lead and the owner shouldn't have a dog at all. Yes, but why? Aren't there enough breeders of German Shepherds for whom the dog is more important to be able to take a stand? As these deformed creatures are winning at shows, I guess not. There are breeders who take a stand, they just don't win in the showring. I would rather a healthy dog who has never seen a showring.
