When my dear Mini became ill recently she was exposed to kennel cough. While we don't know if she had actually had it, I need to treat the house as if she did. I will be getting a puppy early June and want to know how long it lasts in the environment. Disinfecting the house isn't an issue. I can wash and bleach everything but what about outside? What do I need to do? I have a large yard and obviously I can't bleach the grassed areas.

What's The Weirdest Thing Your Dog Has Eaten?
Sheridan replied to Stressmagnet's topic in General Dog Discussion
My dearest, late Grumpy would try anything once to see if it was edible. -
A bit good and a bit bad. Essentially, her bile ducts are clogged. She's now on Ursodiol in an attempt to clear them. She's also on Cyssiprin (sp?) for the reflux and that seems to be helping, though she still has kennel cough. She's not wanted to eat anying so far today but she has had a drink. Last night she was hungry and ate some chicken. I will need to syringe some food down her throat soon.

Mini is back at the vet this morning. She threw up as we were leaving the house,

This is the Animals Australia ad.

I'll talk to the vet but as I said, she's just been sick again.
-
She was on a drip for over a week. She's just thrown up the food I gave her at 6.00.
-
But those people would be two different groups, wouldn't they?

The issue with the feeding tube is the reflux. It makes her burp, regurgitate, and belch. Can't have that with a feeding tube at it may cause her to aspirate. She's being feed via syringe with a bit at a time, though she is licking food out of my hand. She's not drinking enough and the concern is that she may become jaundiced or worse, her kidneys may pack it in. She currently has to be fed every couple of hours and then burped like a baby. She's on six different types of tablets and it's a fight to get them into her.

She's had her throat checked. I have concerns about a feeding tube. She is not a dog tempted by food and a tube may make things worse.

Thanks for the replies. Mini isn't at all well. She has necrotising pancreatitis brought on by actually not being fed. She was at the vet on a drip for a week and hasn't eaten since Thursday week ago. She's had some Nutrigel and a little food syringed into her mouth. She's actively avoiding food and nothing tempts her. On top, she's regurgitating whatever she drinks. The vet is considering megaesophagus.

Putting this in general so it will be more quickly noticed. Miss Mini has had a bout of pancreatitis. She's now got reflux and keeps burping up water. as the vet is closed is there something from a chemist I can give her?

You could also be charged with fraud. -
What do they mean by 'rightly ignored'?

At least this one is vaguely near the colour. Nice try Lynda at Dog Rescue Newcastle but your ad is misleading. http://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/364695 -
Unbelievable that an expert in the breed can't get anything from the shelter.

Miss Mini had this surgery after ongoing infections. No issues with the surgery or post OP. No issues since.

Have a look at lagottos. Correct me if I am wrong but one of the primary goals for the cobber dog breed is to make useful, non-shedding service and assistant dogs. A friend of mine relies heavily (literally) on her assistant dog to assist her in getting up off the floor and back into the wheelchair. I highly doubt a lagotto would have the size nor strength to hold the weight of an adult resting on their back. What, so they've made up some nonsense about service dogs because the oodle has no actual function?
-
He's not the only one.

I am of the belief this stuff caused Grumpy's dementia. I would never give it to a dog.

Have a look at lagottos. Thank you for the suggestion, I appreciate the thought. I have looked into Lagotto's but they have been bred to work and their exercise requirements are much different than the Australian Cobberdog. They have been described as best fitting in with active families which we are not. They are also a "nose" dog and not easily distracted when on the scent of something. I am not sure the Lagotto and my family would be the best mix. The oodle that you're looking at is cross between two very active retriever breeds.

Uk Kennel Club Considering Pedigree Registry Of X-Breds
Sheridan replied to sandgrubber's topic in In The News
Actually, I think it was an April Fool's prank :D . Good to see I wasn't the only one who fell for it :) I hope it is an april fools "joke". This was not an April Fool's prank. This was a statement made by the KC Secretary Caroline Kisko. Despite saying she didn't liken those not in the scheme as puppyfarmers, I know UK breeders who clearly took it that way. -

And yet, the KC, just before Crufts, said that breeders not part of their accredited breeder scheme were just like puppyfarmers. The want things both ways. -
I don't believe there are any puppyfarms in the ACT. The nearest one is in NSW, the one that sells at the Hall markets.
