Should mature dogs only be allowed to be advertised on DOL if they're desexed?

My dog's vet came to the house, along with a vet nurse. She was very kind (and I cannot speak highly enough of her and the clinic as a whole (Dr Sally Adams from North Geelong Vet Clinic).

When Do You Change A Medium Breed Pup To Adult Food?
Sheridan replied to Norskgra's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My last puppy's breeder told me the time to change was when the puppy wouldn't eat the puppyfood anymore. And sure enough, there came a time when he just wouldn't eat puppyfood. Clever boy. -
I imagine that the gene pool in Australia must be fairly small. Are breeders importing new dogs on a regular basis that are unrelated to the current gene pool?

Sheridan replied to ellz's topic in General Dog Discussion
My puppy was pretty much housetrained when we got him. Obedience training, er, not so much. -

Also have to say, when I got Grumpy, his breeder flew with him from SA, brought his two hammock beds, an old wheaten terrier book and his BOB cert from the VP of the Irish Kennel Club, his show leads, and all sorts of other bits and pieces. I can't remember what Miss Mini came with, though Merijigs might remember. All I remember was the beer at the Bredbo pub (no, not that much beer). -

I got a book from the breeder that he'd written himself on wheatens (still have it). One day I'm going to OCR scan it and bind it properly with photos. Sure, I'd have love to have gotten photos but etched in my mind are the phone descriptions of the BFPD (big fat puppy dog) and how different he was to the other pups, etc. The pup's sire came to the airport to meet us, too, which we very much appreciated. Didn't get toys or food (do breeders who fly pups interstate do that?) but we were so excited that getting him was enough. -

Yeh, completely understand that. Will check Petbarn Alexandria today (one on cnr of McEvoy St) re stocks and let you know status. A pity that you stock it there then. -
Yes, for donations.

I would hope that the RSPCA would contact breed clubs/breed rescue or failing those, registered breeders for assistance for the purebreds. A recent example of where this didn't happen passed onto me makes it a forlorn hope. It was third hand and unconfirmable so I can't post it here.

My two are on the EP salmon and anchovy. There are very few pet foods that don't have chicken of any sort in them. They love it.
-
If there are court proceedings, the RSPCA is supposed to keep all the animals until the outcome of the case. Yes, I know that hasn't always happened in the past (Rozzi).

No one is disagreeing that the laws are stupid but as someone else said, blatant disregard for them is simply cementing them in further.

Slightly OT but could you learn to quote so people can follow what you're saying? What's an amstaff? Oh yes, it's a pitbull with papers, isn't it? No, but it's the logical conclusion from what you wrote. I'm not twisting anything. Because l have papers ADBA might not be recognised in Aus,but l have papers. And how does that help you with BSL? Who said the red nose was an identifying feature?? Yep it was you Sheridan. Because you said that you don't have a problem id-ing your pitbulls because they have red noses. You cited no other identifying feature. I'm only going on what you said. You, who said that you've had pitbulls for 13 years and have trouble identifying them. You cannot even id your own breed so what hope is there for anyone else? Not even those who own them ... Clearly there is no definition because not even those who own them can id them.

I'm assuming that Tybrax knows the lineage and breeders of most of her dogs. If she doesn't then I would assume that she would accept that the breed of her dogs is a strong suspicion and that it could be possible that there is something else in there. The fact is that without paperwork or knowledge of lineage no one can really ID any breed. Could you think about the illogic of what you wrote there? People are complaining about BSL on pitbulls but as Kirty said, if she can't ID a pitbull, council people can't ID and pitbull, and here's the kicker, people who have pitbulls can't ID pitbulls, then there's an issue with pitbulls getting picked on because there seems to be no such thing as a pitbull.
-
My god read my post again...............Where l have l stated dogs with red noses are pit bulls?? tybrax Well, let's take a look at your posts: In response to Kirty, you said: And people said, hang on, if someone who's had pitbulls for zonks can't ID them then golly, maybe no one can ID them. And you said, this wasn't a problem for you because: So, if a pitbull's identifying feature is it's red nose then logically, dogs with red noses are pitbulls. Of course, that's stupid: pitbulls must be able to be identified by some other fashion other than their nose (otherwise that rednosed wheaten is in for a helluva shock). If you cannot ID a pitbull and you've owned them for 13 years then how do you know they're pitbulls?
-
Right, so dogs with red noses are pitbulls?
-
Uh huh ... ?

Geez, you'd think he'd be kind enough to at least fart for you ... -
Nope not true l have owned this breed for 13 years and still l cannot id them properly. That's why l asked you to define a pit bull. tybrax Then if you, who has owned pitbulls for 13 years, cannot identify one properly, how do you know you've actually owned pitbulls and not some crossbreed mix? Were you told they were pitbulls and how did that/those person/s identify them?
