  1. Are we supposed to be sorry for someone who sells puppies in a retail outlet?
  2. If I hear animals screaming or howling I'm outside like s shot. The other night I sent my dogs outside, heard another sound and was outside in a few seconds. Called the dogs back in and apologised to our possum.
  3. They didn't wake up until nearly 8.00! No brushing yet. Maybe I'll be mean just before bedtime.
  4. I think Pickles crossed her paws when she gave that assurance.
  5. This is Aunty Sheridan, Pickles. Stop that right now! So, walks tonight. Bunny did much better when walking past houses with loudly barking dogs, though she still freaks out at cars. Not as much but she had some omigod! moments. We got out of the street this time, me and Roo. It was his turn to do the omigod! dogs barking. Plus it was dark so he didn't quite know what to do. We got about halfway down the street before we turned back. His little tail was pretty flat, though not flat enough that he wouldn't take treats. They're both pretty exhausted now, poor kids. All that mind boggling. Brush later. The meanness continues ...
  6. I suspect Pickles has been sending Roo messages.
  7. I've had an interesting development in the last two days. I feed the puppies together in the morning as they have the same food and there's no tantrums. Roo has the most splendid tantrums. Now they're far less interested in the food and way more interested in what I'm doing. I took some of the food away this morning because Bunny was being an airhead and Roo was being blonde and they weren't eating. I might shake it up a bit tomorrow and separate them again.
  8. Wish he'd get the hang of having his head handled! It was brush night and he did pretty well. But oh, trying to clean his eyes. Dear Bunny just stands there.
  9. Breakfast, my puppies now eat together because they get the same dry food and much the same amount. Dinner is higher value and Roo generally does a wee and a poo as soon as he's finished. He eats outside on the deck and Bunny eats inside. Once done rheyre allowed to examine each other's bowls for scraps which there are never any. Tonight is fish night so I imagine there will be gobbling.
  10. Oh, he was hilarious, Tassie. A couple of neighbours got in their cars and drove away and I could just see his little brain wonder if he should give chase. Little ratbag. And then when he did finally pay attention he was so attentive that I kept nearly falling over him. We ran up and down a bit and his little tail didn't stop wagging the whole time.
  11. Roo went for his first walk by himself yesterday and being out in the big wide world completely forgot all his lead training. We didn't get out of the street because we'd get so far, he'd pull and I'd stop and go back in the other direction. Poor boy, there were all these smells!
  12. I agree it would depend on how well the dog copes with being alone but I wouldn't do it - not because of the dog but because I wouldn't cope. I have a hard enough time going t work
  13. Hadn't heard that be before. I don't think I have any but will check the cupboard. Poor Bunny, she had a fairly traumatic day as the afternoon also included ear plucking.
  14. She said, 'Are you sure?' Ginger, that was it. I'll get some next time I'm at the supermarket. And write myself a reminder not to feed her before travel. #urgh
  15. Ugh, vomit all over the back seat of the car. What was the car sickness cure? And whoever said dogs are clean creatures has never had a puppy eat another's vomit. Blurk. Despite the car sickness they did very well at the market and got lots of cuddles. Bunny was pretty much adopted by a little girl. I've exchanged phone numbers with her Mum if they want to do a doggy walk. Bunny was, given her breed, unsurprisingly reactive to everything. Roo was very 'I'm out in the world!' and took most things in his stride. I have been doing lots of feet fiddling, especially with Roo. Brush for him this afternoon but Bunny's got vomit on her feet so a quick bath as soon as I've had a tea. I'm sorry to do it to her when she's been vomiting but it's all very yucky.
  16. Nail clipping. Ugh. I am known for saying I don't do feet. I had a wheaten that had a grass seed as a young un and after that it took three people to hold him to do his nails. Roo has dew claws back and front which is my first time with a dog with dew claws. I have been playing with Roo's feet but it doesn't seem to make much difference at the moment in him letting me do much. Wheatens have this less terrier reputation but they're wilful buggers.
  17. Well, today each of them had a big brush. Again, Bunny was much better than Roo. I even manage to clipper her ears. Roo struggled but not as much as he did the first time. No clippering for him, though. I think a grooming frame would be best for him. Bunny was okay with just the noose and grooming arm, though I really need a new grooming table. The arm is decidedly wobbly. The terrors also had their first car ride on the back seat in harnesses. Bunny freaked out a bit while Roo was wheeeee! let me look at everything and jump around like a lunatic. This was separately which is all I had time for but tomorrow we're going out to a market as Roo is finally allowed out all vaccinated. It was funny, I did a slow drive up and down the street with each then went around the block. When I got back the second time and my neighbour called out to ask if I was okay.
  18. What do you do with those that struggle frm the beginning? And how do you bath them? Hydrobath? Bathtub? I'm also curious if anyone else recommends the don't care if they are scared/enjoy it approach that showdog is advocating.
  19. Showdog, you bath puppies twice a week?
  20. I think the actual topic isn't whether show dogs are overweight or not (inevitably some will be) but rather the shoddy research of determining that they are just from a bunch of photos.
  21. I'm less worried about Roo than I am about my neighbours! This is when I get home from work in the main, though the morning hysterics when I'm getting ready for work don't help.
  22. Hah, not sure that Bunny thinks at all. They're both outside together when I get home. It's funny cos last night I crated them so they could have their individual treats and it was Roo who had the tantrum. Bunny was all, I dunno what he's on about. I wish I still had Grumpy. He put a stop to Mini's hysteria. He just wouldn't put up with it and squished her flat. She was pretty much silent after a while.
  23. She just woke up and barked. At nothing.
  24. I am seriously over the hysterical, to no purpose, endless barking from Bunny. Hopefully she isn't doing this during the day when I'm not here. Here's what she does: on realising I'm home she has complete hysterics, attacks Roo when he comes near the door, and will continue to be hysterical until I open the door. Then she barks and jumps hysterically if I give her attention or if I ignore her. She went in like this for half an hour and she winds Roo up with it. She barks at anything new, she barks at old things. Yesterday, I filled a box with treats. She barks at it. I've tried the water pistol trick, I've tried calming things. It's driving me batty. I think it's driving Roo batty, too. She's full of energy and there's little outlet for it on days like today where it's pouring with rain (though she's like this when it's dry, too). Suggestions?
