I wouldn't recommend a terrier to someone looking for a lab temperament. Non-shedding is overrated as a need given the grooming requirements of the non-shedder. A good brush out of a lab's coat is going to far less work.

That's a complete terrier fail. It's a wheaten fail. I'm telling ya, your wheatens are broken. Admittedly, I found a dead mouse outside a few weeks back but I don't think it was my two. Mini would have insisted on showing me and with Grumpy, I wouldn't have seen it. I scooped up the body and disposed of it before they realised it was there.

Haven't much else to add as Mollie10, ChristineX and Lyndsay have said much of what I was going to say. I also have a kerry as well as a wheaten. Someone asked if they have an off switch and I haven't found Grumpy's yet at age 14. Unlike Mini, he actively looks for stuff to get into to get my attention. Mini has an off switch but it often doesn't work. Grumpy is the most stubborn dog I've ever come across. Mini is pretty biddable but if she doesn't want to do something, she won't, though she can be bribed, though 'What's in it for me?' doesn't work when the bribe isn't good enough. Grumpy won't be bribed at all if he really doesn't want to do something.

What Don't Most People Know About Your Breed?

Unless there's a walk involved. Or a sheep. Or belting you over the head with their big fat paws. Ah, the wheaten greetin'. Your wheatens must be broken, Mollie. Grumpy never gives up so easily! Along with kerries, they certainly are! Your wheatens are broken, Mollie10. -

Must be an Irish thing. Irish dogs, they're thieves. Wheatens: yes, they can see with all that hair over their eyes. Kerries: yes, they can see with all that hair over their eyes. -

I'd love a ginger moggy but can't. Grumpy and Mini say no. -
Didn't pay a cent for my pedigree wheaten and my pedigree kerry blue. Your point? Can you get me a working line GSD from titled parents on main register for a good Schutzhund prospect for free Sheridan??? I will have 2 please No.

I always wanted to call a newfoundland puppy 'Rant and Roar' after the song.

My name is Dianne and my Irish terrier won the Sydney Royal last year. We were so disappointed not to be able to make it there this year. I was keen to see who entered this year; Here he was last year: Here he is on Dogzonline Rufus is gorgeous!

Walk the dog on concrete paths and avoid nail clippers altogether. Depending on foot shape and weight, this doesn't always work. Yes, fair enough.

To Owners Of Elderly, Active Dogs
Sheridan replied to arrow's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have Grumpy who is 14 and is very active. I don't do anything in particular for him food wise or exercise wise that I would do differently for a younger dog. Walks have become a few minutes shorter, that's all, but still that's probably a good half hour, which is pretty good for an old fella. It helps that he hasn't an ounce of arthritis in him. I feed him fish (Woollies sardines in springwater) as his main diet with Eagle Pack salmon and anchovy. I tried Pro Plan but our Mini girl didn't like it so we switched back. He gets a bambi ear each night for his treat. The only thing is that his eyesight is fading and he's going a trifle loopy. People who have seen us do the 'going out in the morning, coming in of an evening' dance have expressed amazement at my patience but honestly, he's my boy, what else would I do other than humor him and play along, even if it does mean the occasional late to work morning. -
7.30 Report Abc To Do Expose On Dd Puppy Farms
Sheridan replied to lappiemum's topic in General Dog Discussion
Both RSPCA & AWL here have activity programs for their dogs in care....& volunteer cuddlers & walkers. RSPCA here, way back, first went public with the fact that lack of early socialisation for puppy farm dogs has long-term adverse effects which can handicap the dogs as much as physical & health defects. Later research at UQ, supported their experience. None of which actually responds to Justin's question. -

What To Do About Mr Bucket Head?

Sounds like you're having a great time. Not sure I could cope with two wheaten boys. They can get pretty full on! I'd love a boy to show but Master Grumps wouldn't like another boy and he hates puppies. -

Just think of what you have to look forward to. Oh goodness, you have two of them now? Another pup from Lynden? -
Tips And Tricks For Giving Dogs Their Medication

I'd like to see any of the 'just pop it down his throat' people try it with my Grumpy. Not even his vet would chance it. It's the hide in food scenario for me. -
Oft have I said that my breeds should be judged running around a farmyard covered in mud.
-
Sorry but that doesn't make much sense. Are you saying conforming to the breed standard is affecting the dogs' health?

Everything dog related costs a bomb. Grumpy is running around like a lunatic so it looks like things have returned to normal now that I have my acts two but is actually 14-year-old back. -

Okay, just wanted to let people know that Mr Bucket Head is back to being plain old Grumpy. The bucket is off, the stitches are out and (fingers crossed), he seems to be leaving his leg alone. -
Simple solution for the RSPCA then: stop doing it.
