  1. Do you have mortgage insurance? A friend didn't think she had it and when she went to the bank to see if her repayments could be reduced after she was injured at work, she found she had mortgage insurance that would pay for around 13 months. Great that you're going to see your dogs.
  2. And plenty of NSW people do advertise in the ACT. We can't legislate the rest of the country. We can only legislate for the ACT. At least somebody is doing something. If all the other states and territories follow suit, perhaps it will be effective. "The journey of a thousand miles, starts with a single step." Someone, somewhere, has to take that first step. Certainly, but the article complained about "rescuers" who take dogs from NSW to hand into the ACT. How on earth does stopping advertising prevent that?
  3. Then why can people get done for violating a code of practice?
  4. An ACT code of practice will be of no value to people handing in dogs that they've "rescued" from NSW puppyfarms and pounds. Nor will it affect NSW puppyfarms pumping out dogs unless they advertise in the ACT. Ms Porter should try to apply a little logic.
  5. Mini puts up with anything and doesn't seem to notice change. Grumpy used to be a lot more flexible but as he's got fuzzier in his head, he likes his routine more. This doesn't mean he won't change it if he feels like it but if I do, I get the annoyed 'rorororororororororororo' bark of protest.
  6. My advice is not to mess around with other diets. The prescription diets (whether Hills or Royal Canin or whatever) have what your dog needs. You'd otherwise be guessing.
  7. Regarding a vet in Canberra, I can highly recommend Hamish Cameron at West Queanbeyan. It's only a short distance away from Tuggeranong.
  8. Give your vet a ring. There is a visiting veterinary opthamologist who visits Canberra once a month but he goes to different clinics each time. Your vet should have the schedule, if not give West Queanbeyan a ring. They should also know.
  9. So does Mini. Plus she has a fall over her face.
  10. Such a little ray of sunshine! Now, Gareth, I thought you said you were putting me on ignore.
  11. and sometimes the club is perceived as a closed shop or dysfunctional by the corrupt; the arseholes, the hopeless and the helpless , when in reality it's not. In other words don't take everything you are told as gospel, find out things for yourself, you might be pleasantly surprised. Or have everything confirmed.
  12. Don't know if this has been posted before: A Doggy Summer
  13. Inspector Rex is banned in our house. I cannot watch any program with animals on it if Mini is in the room. She's a fearsome watchdog when it comes to guarding against animals on the telly, so much so that sometime Grumpy cracks the shits with her.
  14. My last wheaten went into a decline when I went overseas for three weeks to the extent where my parents weren't able to mention my name.
  15. Nor do I so perhaps you can point out where I made mention of that? No, I won't be going through your posts and pointing out things you have mentioned. It isn't about you. Perhaps you could do it, if you were bored and wanted to bore everyone again else too. I'll make it simple for you: My first post My second. And this is my third. Since you missed the point, I'll say it again: the OP was flogged before she posted anything about not being registered. She was flogged because she wanted cheaper ID collars. Seems a trifle petty to me.
  16. That the OP wanted something cheaper has nothing to do with the site. You believe it to be bagged and that it's fair value for money; clearly from other people's posts, they believe there are cheaper alternatives. That is fine. So why do we get the "Ohh, you are so nasty to noobie" brigade thing happening then? I don't care how long Kazzie has been posting. Nor do I so perhaps you can point out where I made mention of that?

  18. The OP was flogged as soon as she posted that she wanted to get cheaper neckbands for her puppies. That was before she said she wasn't a registered breeder. Flogging is the prime DOL sport for some people. To the OP: Yes, you should be a registered breeder. If you want to do this again, see if you can find a mentor in your breed and learn about genetics, health testing and the best way to go about breeding registered dogs. Good luck.
  19. I get the impression that the heritable disease this breed gets is not HD or ED because these have been mentioned separately to the one in the OP. I'm also interested in the question as to whether the disease that the breeders are not testing for is one that has shown up in the lines currently available in Australia. It's notable that when I was inquiring about wheatens I was told that there had never been a case of protein losing diseases in Australian lines and yet a number of years later, there it was. It follows, just with that example, that just because there hasn't been a case of the disease the OP is talking about, it doesn't mean it isn't present in Australian lines.
  20. Were there any Irish terrier breeds for the meet and greet?
  21. I don't know if I could put up with Grumpy being more clever. I'm forever running around after him as it is. Mini is also very clever but she's far more easily distracted. That said, I could see her working out how to get something she wanted the other day and had to put a stop to it.
  22. You should only breed from show dogs.
  23. What do people do when their dog/s have a gurgling, squeaky (and loud!) tummy with grass eating thrown in. Do they feed their dog/s a normal meal or wait until the tummy has ceased to be deafening?
  24. Hah, that reminds me of a certain training establishment who claimed to stop unwanted behaviours by throwing a chain down next to the puppy. We went once to their puppy pre school and pulled out because my pup was so terrified. To the last he was scared of things being dropped on the ground near him.
  25. My previous kerry would sit to 'suigh síos, tú bastart', which is Irish for 'sit down, you bastard'.
