With all of these oxygen thieves around, I reckon we need a specific thread for them.

Sheridan replied to Fevah's topic in General Dog Discussion
http://www.theage.com.au/national/rspca-ca...0710-104vy.html sigh there is absolutely no doubt that the PIAA support puppy factories. oh but they only support 'ethical' ones of course An ethical puppyfarm is an oxymoron. -

If you don't like what they have to say, get onto Twitter and send Chris Brown and the 7pm Project something. Make sure your hashtags are relevant and American. Not #puppyfarm but #puppymill, that sort of thing. This will get a wider audience. -

Wow, der, where did he think they came from? -
He has pedigree dogs.

Thanks both.

As above. Is there more than one RSPCA shelter in Brisbane? Fairfield is the only one according to the website but I wanted to check with the DOLxperts.

What Do Puppy Prices Make You Think Of Breeders?
Sheridan replied to my_sibe_owns_me's topic in General Dog Discussion
Admittedly, last time I got a puppy I didn't ask 'how much?', the breeder simply told me. That was 11 years ago now and wheaten pups have pretty much doubled in price from most breeders. Some are more expensive from what I understand. I think if one was more expensive than I expected, I'd simply continue to save if I really wanted one but a little planning goes a long way in being able to afford a puppy. Ask early, have a savings plan. -
Has anyone done the tension for the square? And sorry, I skimmed but could see a deadline.

Or even typing and impossible ... WHOOOOOSH (That's the noise of my joke going straight over your head) Methinks it only became a joke after I picked it up. 'That's okay. Nobody thinks jokes are funny when they didn't get them. Actually, when I wrote it, I thought, 'I bet it'll be claimed to be a joke now.' And voila.

Petshops Hit Back At Calls To Ban Sales Of Pups And Kittens
Sheridan replied to toy dog's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'd like to know what academic research (not their own industry research) has been done on what percentage are sold by pet shops because frankly, that sounds like a fib. -

When I was a kid, my family managed to find our rare Irish terrier breeds without the Internet. I just rang my Mum and our irish terriers were advertised by the breeder in the Geelong Advertiser; our kerry blue was advertised in The Age or Herald-Sun. Both advertised as litters.

They haven't paid hard cash to see the dogs; they've paid to get into the show. Sure, some people just go to see the dogs but the entry is not for the dogs.

I'd call that double handling.

And that is why the pedigree dog world needs to get off it's collective bum and start promoting itself properly, to the public. They do a great job of promoting the benefits of purebred dog ownership.....to their own members. We are not the ones who need converting, we already know. Rather than continually diss the "opposition"....the pet shops, the backyard breeders, the puppy farms....they need to positively promote correct breeding practises, good ethics and the benefits of owning a pedigree pet. And do it with a friendly, welcoming face. This has been said over and over to hoots of dismissal various DOL showies. It seems it's easier to complain than do something.

Anyone note that his two cockers and lab were pedigree dogs?

What utter rubbish.

Well, that was just lovely, particularly the jack russells in action. Great to see him make the point that different breeds were 'engineered' for particular reasons and then to give an example of such a dog in action. Very funny during the jack russells. Princess Mini, who is a great television watcher, sat at attention, quivering, during the rat catching, commenting throughout. As soon as it changed back to Martin's dogs, she was up at the television complaining.

I missed the first couple of minutes. Was that Crufts he was at? I love his presentation; it's always so respectful.

Great post, Lyndsay. What t-time has experienced is simpy another competitor being rude.

Yes Nynka you it right all dogs MUST be on benches and NOT left in crates or trolleys at the Melbourne Royal Perhaps it's changed as I haven't been to the Melbourne Royal for some time but it used to be a custom more honored in the breach a few years ago.

In some of them the faces are blanked out so it makes me wonder why (a) any person gives permission to a film crew to film them under these circumstances and (b) why some people seem to be filmed without them giving permission.
