From the UK: Kennel Club Takes The Lead On Litter Limits For Bitches
-
Wheatens and kerries, you know you want to! Sheridan, we all love Wheatens and Kerries but how could you forget Schnauzers? ;) ;) No hair and no slobber - the perfect dog. If only they were Irish!
-
Well, he did grow up in New Zealand, Mollie10. Being an early immigrant to our shores and thus used to the wildlife, Anouk has to protect her baby brother.

Thanks, Akayla, it's all sorted.

I've been doing that from the first litter I've bred. Every pup that is sold before chipping at eight weeks or whenever I do it, is chipped in the new owners names. All they need do is sign the form for me and it's done. Only those that are staying are chipped in my name. Naturally to become one of the new breed of certified breeders according to dogs nsw, you will have to chip before rego and include the number on the application to register. That puts an end to the above You could do the above, do the transfer form for the chip, and get them to sign the form and send it in yourself.

Wheatens and kerries, you know you want to! My family owned a Kerry and as cute as he was, he was a pain in the butt with other dogs. What are Wheatens like? I love the fact that our dogs are very friendly and can easily mix with any type of dog. Even if a little dog growls or has a go at our dog (either the male or the female), they just give them a wide berth. Wheatens are happy dogs! It's part of (one of) the standard. Must exhibit a sense of humour (my paraphrase). Grumpy has exquisite manners when he's not being grumpy. He mixed very well with other dogs and played very well (I don't let him anymore because he's an old man now but he does run around the yard with Mini, with whom he is very patient). Like any breed, kerries are in the socialisation. Some can be real play bunnies; others not so much.

Only a dog owner would ask what a child's 'temperament' was ... :p

I realise that topics can drift and evolve but trampoline in yard to grubby hands at a dog show in the first post. Not remotely connected. Ruger, as I said to you in PM, you are overreacting to what was a simple request for advice. Stop it. Changing your user name to a bunch of dots and then continuing to post exactly the same stuff isn't doing yourself any favours. Just stop.

One way to restrict registered breeders from selling entire litters overseas and without doing it as a restriction of trade, would be to push the CCs into not granting export licences to whole litters. None of us like it so why is it allowed? Because the people in charge of the CCs allow it. You're not restricting trade by not granting an export licence, surely? The registered puppyfarmers are still free to export what they like but stop them hiding behind a veneer of respectability. Of course, CCs like Dogs ACT might moan a fair bit but they made their own bed. No point in being a registered breeder if the CCs won't play ball. Ironically, the fella in charge at Dogs ACT said, when the puppyfarm stuff came up in the ACT a few months ago, that their members didn't sell to pet shops. No, that's right, instead they sell to an agent who sells the puppies to a pet shop. Look at the Dogs ACT listing each quarter and see just how many export to McDougal. Name and shame. Does anyone seriously believe that they don't know what they're doing? Make registered breeding something to be proud of instead of saying, 'Well, there are unethical registered breeders, too.' These are a couple of questions and answers I have in my wheaten health FAQ because people do ask these things:

No issues with hair in this house (aside from grooming - oh, Grumpy man, we'll try again for a bath this week!). My two, however, are the stickiest dogs ever. If there's anything that could possibly attach to their coats, it will. I'm forever saying, 'Hang on, darling, you have a stick on your bum.'

I think when compost starts turning into goo it can become toxic which is why it's recommended that a fence be placed around composting material.

Where To Draw The Line With Vet Bills?
Sheridan replied to ~Myschafis~'s topic in General Dog Discussion
As for others, it depends on whether my dog/s will have quality of life. Am I hanging on to them for me? That said, while I could get pet insurance for Mini, I can't for Grumpy as he's too old. I pay $100 into the vet's bank account each fortnight. It's come in handy recently with tummy troubles and when I needed to buy some veterinary diet food for him. -
Hot Weather And Keeping Dogs Outside
Sheridan replied to RoxyNHemi's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'd be interested in this, too. How long does the cool last? -
Poor bluey. RIP. I've come home to dead birds. While it could be one or the other, I suspect Grumpy is the culprit.
-
Of course! And I'd come bearing a pig's ear ;) I know these wheatens :D Snatching creatures.
-
Ah yes, indeed. And the loo.
-
I think you're in the wrong place if that's your attitude. My dogs are more important to me than pretty much everyone. And my family accepts this. That would be a careful hug because he's not a huggy man.

Victoria plays the blinder blame game yet again.

When I went overseas for three weeks some years ago, I would ring and ask how my dog was doing. Oh, he's fine! my mum would say. Then I'd get a call from my sister who'd say that he was in a sad decline to the extent where my name was not allowed to be mentioned because he'd go looking for me.

Breeders - What Age Do You Recommend Your
Sheridan replied to labsrule's topic in General Dog Discussion
What my first wheaten's (and Grumpy's) breeder recommended was to change over when he stopped eating the puppy food. I can't recall how old he was now but at one point he just went off the food. Weaned him onto adult and we were away. -
Well said, Gayle. I'd also like to see the friendly website promoting purebreds. We all love DOL but the main site isn't user friendly for the person looking for a dog. Most of it is about showing (not that there's anything wrong with that but as Raz said, people are just looking for a family friendly dog). Information about breeds shouldn't be about the standard. It should be about what makes a purebred a great pet.

Okay, nakedness unnecessary. Thankfully I noticed some activity down the back so went down to see what was going on. They were putting a safety net up around the trampoline so I jumped up on a garden bed to say hello and it went very well. Lovely family, who said they'd waited for two years to put it up because they didn't want to disturb the neighbours and that they'd take it down if it bothered me. Whoever suggested they didn't have anywhere else to put it had it exactly right. There's nowhere else it will fit. I'm going to take Mini around to meet the kids (thank you, Ruger) and I asked them to let me know if the dogs bark too much. Won't take Master Grump around. I did say that one of them was fairly old. They said they don't mind dogs barking as they'd grown up with them. The net is around two foot higher than my fence and is black so I doubt the dogs will see the kids at all with it. When I was talking to them, the dogs were hanging around but took no notice of the conversation, which was great. They were really considerate and really nice. Thanks to everyone for the positive thoughts and suggestions.

Or sticky fingers.

Same with failed Customs dogs, I believe. They have their own breeding program, too.
