Whats The Best Gossip You Heard About Yourself Or Your Dogs?
Sheridan replied to MonElite's topic in General Dog Discussion
I suppose it depends if you've been on the receiving end of some of this stuff. -
To me, it doesn't matter if it's the law; it's simply commonsense. One of my dogs does that too! I say, 'Foot' and then 'Other foot' and on goes the harness.

Never quoted anyone saying judges are saints. Analysis and synthesis of the events and comments, together with a literal licence to post a point of view, are what forums are composed of. To put it another way, forums create the space for writers to be creative, or expressive, if that's what fits your muse. In other words, you made it up.

Yep. read them all, with every barb and feather. My response was to your response to my earlier post, which was a response to someone else's post, and so on. Actually, the glass is not half full, it's overflowing. Erm, okay? Meaning, my posts are always fully informed, as far as is practicable. Well, perhaps you could point out those posts that say: I recall the one where it was said it hadn't happened to them but I don't recall the others? In particular, I don't recall the saint claim.

Thundershirt For Dogs With Fear/anxiety Etc

Would you like me to list everything we've tried and what our obedience school has said about Akira's pulling? Even THEY have given up on her, yet she can walk perfectly on leash in our yard because there's nothing to overstimulate her. I am certain her problem is excitement, hence why trying to calm her down would probably be very useful. *Shrugs* you can be a smart ass if you want, doesn't really fix your problem does it. I have some sympathy for the owner with an overexcited dog when on lead. I have one myself and no matter what happens, she's hard to settle. There's no need for the nasty response. -

My response to that sort of thing is generally, 'Yes, my dog knows he's a dog; he's thinks I'm one, too.' -
Poor little dog; death by owner. I once had a car behind me. Absolute ages, they were behind me, obviously going in the same direction. They were holding the dog halfway out the window. I was so angry that when we stopped at a red light, I got out, walked up to the car and suggested they put the dog in the back seat, buy a doggy seatbelt at the first opportunity because it was the law the dog be restrained, and described in detail what could happen to the dog if they dropped it or stopped suddenly. 'You love your dog, don't you?' I thundered at them. I think they were really shocked (I was shocked that I actually did it) and apologised to me, put the dog in the back. I said, 'Right then', walked back to my car, got in and drove off when the light turned green a few seconds later.

Need Help! Dog Has Stomach Bowel Problem?
Sheridan replied to rob78's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Glad to hear that Mickey is doing better. The itching may be from the change in diet. If he's reverse sneezing or snorting, does he have hair in his mouth or nose? Something stuck in his throat, maybe? -
I wonder if you've actually read the posts in this thread?

Whats The Best Gossip You Heard About Yourself Or Your Dogs?

My first DOL experience: I and another newbie DOLer wanted to get into rescue and help out. I asked a fairly general question about pound release procedures in Victoria because there was a lot on the forum about NSW and little about Victoria. A certain rescue group had over-the-top hysterics saying that we had asked for their secret pound contact lists, which we had not. A number of fairly prominent forum members jumped on said rescue group's bandwagon and repeated this over and over and over as well as bagging me and the other newbie out on another forum. It put me off for life formally getting involved in rescue. -
Do you think her handling of the dog was an accident?

I had a bad experience at puppyschool with my first wheaten. I found somewhere else to take him and got a refund.

Ditto.

My advice is don't ask for advice.

You had fear aggressive dogs with problems long before that event, did you not ? Doesn't mean something didn't happen. It also doesn't mean that because it's never happened to you that it hasn't happened to someone else. People ought not to assume that others are lying because they haven't experienced it.

Thundershirt For Dogs With Fear/anxiety Etc

My concern would be a storm and me not being there to put the shirt on. It's not something I'd leave on Grumpy in case he got caught on trees/bushes in the yard. -
If I can be on two groups, I'll put up my hand for this one, too. I think registered breeders and positive exposure for purebreds go hand in hand.
-
I had to have a giggle once when visiting a dog show with Grumpy. There were 10 or so wheatens there. A couple inquiring about getting a wheaten pointed at Grumpy (the only wheaten there with the so-called 'Irish' coat) and said, 'We want one who looks like that.'

Dry Food That Does Not Contain Wheat, Corn Or Soy?
Sheridan replied to Erny's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
This thought crossed my mind, but I got the impression it is not a diet for long-term. Don't know why and might have the wrong impression. Didn't worry to pursue it at the time but will if that becomes necessary. And yes, it is expensive although I haven't tallied precisely the cost to me, but I think it proves to be less than what I've been forking out on a weekly basis for Mandela's food for the past year and a half or more. Previously I've been spending at least $105.00 per week (on just his chicken alone). Before that it was BARF and before that it was VAN pre-mix for allergy dogs. I wasn't sure how long I would be able to keep that up for (although I'm sure I'd make something manage if push came to shove ) and there is no way I want to add that up and average it out on the basis of his estimated life span!! . I think that the Z/D might come in at about $75 - $80 per week. So it is better than previous, the bonus being that he is doing better on it (fingers crossed this good fortune lasts). It is really quite depressing to spend all the money I'd spend only to see your dog not doing any or getting any better on it. So from that aspect, I'm quite delighted at the moment and happy to be able to report that I am. Erny, wheatens with PLN are on Z/D Ultra for the rest of their lives. It's the recommended food as the protein is hydrolised. It may not be considered a long-term food but it can be. -
ABC News is reporting that the Coalition in Vic has won 43 seats. They need 45 for a majority.

Got that one courtesy of my thread about trampolines!

I took Grumpy and Mini out today on their (individual) walks. We met no one on Grumpy's walk, which I'm pleased to say at a month and a bit away from 15-years-old was the same distance as Mini's. Princess Mini, however ... We met a dog and she was not pleased. Not a good promotion of purebreds was my kerry blue terrier this morning. Wheatens and kerries are mountain goats in disguise!

there's a difference between saying, "dont you think my dog is cute." and "my dog is cuter than yours because i bought him from a top breeder and you bought a dirty mix breed from the newspaper." I don't think I've read that in this thread. Am I a purebred dog snob? You betcha, I am. I have purebred dogs because I like a particular type of dog. I like wheaten and kerry blue terriers. Do I think they're the best dogs on the planet? You betcha, I do. Am I going to say so? You betcha, I am. I didn't buy them but their breeders are indeed tops. Will I say so at every opportunity? You betcha, I will. Why should you condemn me for having purebreds and not a mixed breed? Yes, it works both ways and you're doing it right now. sorry sunshine, i'm not, because then i would be condemning myself. i understand this was a forum set up to discuss pure breeds, i didnt when i signed up, and this was the first thread that made me feel uncomfortable about the situation. i thought this was a big dog loving community but apparently some have a higher status than others. don't worry guys, i'll stay out of your precious pure breed threads, i'll stick to conversing with those old enough to understand that we are all created equally, i think they teach that in kindergarden these days? I wouldn't know, not being four years old.
