  1. Well, I tried Grumpy on the Robert. He picked out the chicken in the dish, wouldn't touch the rest of it!
  2. Do you believe everything you read or hear in the media?
  3. Funnily enough, I've just spent the last few hours over a blue tongue in my yard. Believe me, when it's hiding in a hole with only its head visible, it looks like a snake. I called the rangers and the RSPCA and neither would come out to remove it as it wasn't injured (apparently not injured as I couldn't tell, it being in my rockery) despite me saying that it wouldn't be able to get out of my yard unless it was very lucky to find its way out the same way it got in and that I had two dogs. Eventually, it came out of the hole and tried really hard to get up my colourbond fence. Eventually, someone who had reptile experience came and got it and said they'd release it into bush but what was I supposed to do? Just hope that it went away and let the dogs out?
  4. Thanks! No problems - you've got Qld below your Avatar ;) Yes.
  5. Thanks very much (though not from Qld).
  6. I've been through the DOL ads but can't find anything. I was sure I saw an ad for a bling dog collar that could be personalised with the dog's name. Any ideas?
  7. Thanks, Boronia, but I'll wait to see if he actually takes to it first otherwise it's wasted postage for you. I very much appreciate the offer! Grumpy is quite down today. I may have to give him a Rimadyl later, as he's moving quite gingerly. I worry so about my Grumpy man!
  8. When Princess Mini snorted into my hair on her first visit. I knew we were destined to be together. With Grumpy, it was when we were playing and he ran over and gave me heaps of kisses before continuing to play. That's when I knew I'd turned into 'Mum'.
  9. I'll give it a try. He doesn't have much breakfast, though.
  10. Grumpy was really good with my friend in the house. He did focus on her but when called away, left her alone. He certainly doesn't like anyone between me and him, so we swapped seats on the couch so I sat closest to him. I also found some Herb Robert at a tea shop. I don't think Grumpy would drink it by itself. Wondering if the dried herbs would be beneficial if added to his dinner and if so, how much to put in?
  11. I hadn't thought to check the DOL ads. Good thought! Will also check Wayrod's thread in marketplace and the other suggestions.
  12. Oh right, thanks. Unfortunately, Dogs ACT doesn't run a shop. I'll have a look at the others suggested but I don't want a cheap one. I want one that's airline approved.
  13. Given the mark up at Petbarn, I'd rather not and I've never seen them in there.
  14. Grumpy travels in a crate (ever since the bad drug incident he freaks out in the car). However, his current crate is now uncomfortable for him and I'm looking to buy a bigger one. Most of the crates I've seen online are fairly small. He currently has a medium size one and I'm looking for one that's probably border collie to golden retriever size.
  15. Grumpy is still quite vague at times. A friend is visiting for a few days and I'll have to keep a close eye on him to see how he (and she!) copes. Our walks are shorter and we don't go if it's too warm but recently he leapt over my lap to get off the bed from a standing start. Then he looked surprised that I told him off.
  16. My dogs don't get much other than seafood. Grumpy is currently on a prescription diet food but Mini gets a fish based kibble and their prime meat is mackerel, sardines or tuna. They only get a bit of chicken or liver as a treat in general.
  17. Ignore it. Evangelists tend to be unnecessarily rude.
  18. Ahem, don't forget the ears! 'All I see are flat ears!'
  19. Bit of an update: Grumpy hasn't done a poo inside since last report. He's been a bit up and down, though - indeed, quite literally! There are some nights he wants to go outside four or five times. He's definitely having issues with his back legs, one in particular. He's also slippy sliding a lot on them and sometimes just can't get comfortable. We're off to the vet tomorrow and hopefully, he can get the hair under his pads shaved out, which should help. Muzzle on, several people to hold him. The vet nurse suggested they may have to sedate him but I pointed out his age and that if muzzled, he should be okay. The hair around his eyes has been cut right back, so there's nothing obscuring his vision. On the upside, there's still nothing wrong with his appetite. Tuesday update: Grumpy is now Mr Poodle Feet. All went well at the vet and hopefully, Grumps will be a little steadier on his feet.
  20. Your vet should do it and send all the test results.
  21. Yes, I had that issue with my wheaten. There is also a Royal Canin veterinary intestinal dietary food. Comes in wet and dry but your vet should check with Dr Littman about it and what possible other IBD dietary foods there might be, including ones you could put together yourself.
