Wheaten terriers wouldn't get stage fright.
-
No, they haven't.
-
Insects don't like peppermint oil. Works on ants but I've never tried it on a spider.
-
He's had his first Rimadyl tablet now so I'm hoping there will be some better movement and no tummy trouble. He was pretty grumpy this morning because they were being left outside today but health-wise he was pretty good.

Poor beautiful wheatie man. He'll need lots of TLC.
-
I won't touch any sprays. I have heaps of spiders around. I kill them when I see them, aside from huntsmen and daddy long legs.
-
Yes, when my first wheaten had PLN I went for the injection option for medicine, even though we had to go to the vet each day. Yes, I've recently bought a dehydrator and am making a trip to Costco to buy some fillets in bulk.

Protecting Lizards In The Back Yard
Sheridan replied to Whippetsmum's topic in General Dog Discussion
I had a blue tongue in my yard recently, which Mini was very keen to get. The only way a blue tongue could get in the yard is under the fence and thus the only way it could get out. RSPCA wouldn't come to get it, the ranger wouldn't come to get it, and the blue tongue couldn't get out. It tried to climb the colourbond fence to get out! Luckily, someone with some experience came and got him. -
If You Were Choosing A Breed On Looks Alone...

Do you remember who was handling him? -
Congratulations, he's lovely!

He would like to eat lamb! We've been through most proteins.

We went really well at the vet. He's now Mr Poodle Feet. Embarrassing but should help him stop being Mr Slippy. I like that the vets at the surgery treat owners as adults and engage in a discussion about the animal's health and diet. I thought Grumpy might have to go on a vet diet wet food and I wasn't too keen on this as many of them contain chicken, so we poured over the dietary food ingredients and analysis and the vet agreed with me that I should try to keep Grumpy on his regular mackerel, sardines and tuna and go onto the Royal Canin sensitivity diet. I can't recall if I mentioned I was hesitating about putting him on the BD because it was chicken based. As well, I will try him on the Rimadyl as of Thursday to see how he goes. He's getting a fairly low dose to take into account a potential wobbly tummy. He'll stay on the Vivitonin but he won't have huge amounts of treats so his bambi ears are out the door now, poor little man.

I don't know about yours but mine came with lots and lots of teeth. Good thing he started using them a bit more judiciously about the same time they got bigger. And Kerries are stunning, but I love that Wheatens are allowed to be shaggy. Oh yes, Grumpy's teeth work really well. -
He's not too bad, thanks, Kavik. He's quite stiff but I think some of that is due to not being on his Vivitonin for several days plus being at the vet and cooped up. He always seemed to fall out of the crate at the vet, poor old man. We're back to the vet tonight to discuss food, medication, and to get under his feet shaved off which should make him a bit more stable on his feet.

Ah, wheatens, say I fondly.

Might have been my thread about Grumpy. He's just had a hospital stay because I fed him too much chicken over Christmas. Dogs can become allergic to protein sources. Some dogs do well on chicken.
-
Grumpy is much better though today he's a little down, I think. Could be the weather. He didn't want all his breakfast this morning and who can blame him? Breakfast is treat time, where he normally gets a piece of chicken with his tablet and some liver crisps on his kibble. This morning he got kibble and whiting. He's not too impressed with the whiting. It's got to be pretty tasteless. We're seeing the vet tomorrow after work so hopefully, we can get some of the food issues sorted out. He'll eat the kibble but he's got to have something that tastes good. Normally he's such a greedy guts.
-
Probably too much fat for Grumpy in that salmon one. Holistic Select Salmon has 12% (the canned has 5%). Royal Canin Blue Whiting and Tapioca has 9%. Proplan Sensitive has 16% (and has 'animal fat' in there; Grumpy got sick on it). The vet told me where a kibble said 'animal by-products' it meant things like beaks and feathers in chickens. I said I could have done without knowing that.

Suggest that people have a read of the ingredients and in what order they come. For example, Taste of The Wild Rocky Mountain Feline with Roasted Venison and Smoked Salmon contains no rocky mountain feline. Unless chicken, its main ingredient, is a rocky mountain feline these days? And yes, I realise it's cat food ... My point is that chicken is the main ingredient not venison or salmon.

Worst Excuses For Re-homing Or Surrendering A Pet
Sheridan replied to PeiPei's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think it's hard to have blanket statements about rehoming. Reasons and wide and varied, some good some not. What do you say to the breeder rehoming a 10 year old stud dog because of his business?
