  1. They're buggers to clip together if some are a4 and some are that weird cheque book size  Kowai I asked Werribee if they had them to - they said nup, we just photocopy 'em!
  2. Yep I cut all of mine before mailing them off ;)
  3. I scanned mine (but after I filled out all Indi's details 'cos I couldn't be stuffed filling in a new one each time!!) Kowai I think the werribee club sells the entry form booklets. Honestly it took me ages to find the right form to apply for a title on that website, I only found it through just clicking on things at random in the end.
  4. I reckon there's some terrier in there, we have a little scruffy feral that has a similar face (only your girl is so much prettier!!) We're not sure what he is either, but I think there's some Jack Russell hiding in there somewhere...
  5. I don't know a lot about cats, do they have a lot of bacteria in their claws/mouths? I always wondered why cat scratches/bites hurt sooo much even though they don't seem to pierce the skin much.
  6. I know isn't it a gorgeous lion clip! They mane is absolutely perfect. Note to self - clip kitty's nails FIRST (looks at scratches on hands and arms) I got the kitty death stare all afternoon, it was a tad scary... :D
  7. Curious to hear if any groomers here clip cats... As I'd attempted to clip a cat today for somebody, the body came up beautifully smooth but trying to clip the legs - ohmygosh (kitty was doing the deep mreooooow at this point so I let him be). Any tips on clipping cats without losing fingers, arms, and eyes? example of the kitty lion clip http://www.whiskeroaks.biz/images/lioncut3.jpg I was aiming to clip down to the wrists though :D ps. the clip was for general health reasons
  8. I might try the walkie dog thingy - I was going to try roller blades but I can't even use them properly on my own  I'd have to wrap myself in bubble wrap.
  9. That's that little bar that goes out sideways from your bike? I'm really scared Indi's going to take off after a bird while we're on it!! Is it really stable?
  10. Does anyone here do it? I tried cycling with Indi but she pulls me like a steam train, and well, it's kind of a scary roller coaster!!! I was think of trying her on one of those funky looking little scooter-dealies http://www.windchill.com.au/scooters&sleds.htm (with the proper harness etc) Does anyone do this with just the one dog? I'm wondering if the one Border Collie can pull one of these?? (Indi's a lean and leggy type of Border, we do a lot of dog sports)
  11. Wow I didn't know bunnies could jump that high I thought they kind of just hopped around on the ground. And how serious where they about it too! I would so do cat agility if I had a cat!!!
  12. Well I'm just trying to find a good video clip of cat agility, I know they've been doing that for a while now too!! The sheepie in the clip looks pretty young? I'd be way too scared trying to teach a ram agility
  13. The vet pulled it out in half a second felt like a giant idiot, I guess I don't have the knack!!! But in my defense it was a big bugger of a thorn!! Thanks curlyking, I'm sure this won't be the last thorn/seed to get stuck in there so I'll try that next time.
  14. Indi was out running with sheepies today, and I noticed she was limping tonight. I had a look around her feet, and between her toes (on the top of the foot) I can see a small thorn/stick stuck in there. It seems reasonably deep, I can't even budge the damn thing with tweezers. So until our vet trip tomorrow, is there anything else I can try to get the thing out? I can grip it with my fingernails but it just won't budge. I'll give it a wash in the meantime, see if that flushes the thing out.
  15. Didn't think much of it - and yes I was surprised at her sudden shift away from Caeser! Her training methods would definitely not work with Indi - Indi would just laugh at her And - could that Chihuahua owner be any more ORANGE????
  16. I use the spc apple puree, it doesn't have added sugar. When I buy ingredients I try to get organic, with no added sugar and fat. So if I flavoured the biscuits with herbs (eg. mint, parsley etc) and withheld the fats that could be OK. I might run molasses by a vet too just incase, I'd hate to make their dog sick.
  17. It's a hard one, I'm doing a bit of reading and it seems that if I wanted to make a safe biscuit it would have to have absolutely no fat in it, and be easily digestible... So I couldn't use the usual ingredients ie; eggs, soy milk, safflower oil, apple puree (on second thought would apple puree be a nono?) I checked out the ingredients of Hill i/d to get some sort of clue as to what was safe, but hey I don't even understand what half the ingredients are!
  18. It's not for my dog, for a friend's dog with pancreatitis... I love baking dog biscuits, and giving them as gifts. But I'm stumped as to what I could bake for a dog with pancreatitis, not having a dog diagnosed with it before. Does anyone have any simple dog biscuit recipe ideas? Or, what ingredients I should omit/replace? I have a low fat herb biscuit recipe that just has blackstrap molasses in it as a liquid, but I'm really doubtful how good the molasses would be. I've been googling ideas, but so far the only one I found involves me boiling up chickens and separating the fat from the broth for hours and to be honest I'd prefer something a bit easier!
  19. Geez you're lucky, we got reeaaally hot weather, I don't know how Lynn managed to run around the paddock all day after us and still keep all that enthusiasm. I did ask her, she said she really loves doing this and it didn't bother her. Seriously wasn't she the most polite, patient person you have ever met? Did the workshop hosts work their 2 border collies? I love those dogs. Did you get Gemma kisses? Did anyone tape this workshop? I taped the foundation one, I would have loved to see the next one.
  20. I think today was the last day of the Trialling Clinic, and yes I am sitting here waiting to find out what it was like! I filmed the whole three days (ok, well for as long as the batteries lasted), gee I never realised that I walked like such a doofus At least the trialling clinic got the nice cool change we got the six billion degree heat, humidity, and the FLIES and BEES and WASPS :) edited to add link to Lynn's website, you can order her DVD's there too: http://www.downriver.org/
  21. I only noticed it as I saw the little ad for the info night in the vicdog mag It's a kind of "blink and you'll miss it" thing I think. I can send you a copy of the rules when I get mine if you like? (no idea when I'll get my copy though!!)
  22. I went to the information night for the rule changes, I'm not sure which state you are in but you could check to see if an information night will be held near you? Yes I think HT is now optional, although I think it's a pretty big jump from the little yard to the big paddock Another change they are making, is that dogs entering the instinct test MUST have prior training with the stock they are being tested on (ok, so it did say in the previous rules that you should have had prior training, they are just trying to push this one) A formal warning system is being introduced for dogs that attack sheep. If a dog attacks a sheep, then a judge can issue a warning (it's called something else, can't remember the name of it now). If you get, I think, 2 of these warnings, you're out of the game for 6 months, these warnings get filed away on a database. After that, you can elect for your dog to be retested at your own expense, if the judges deem your dog OK to continue then you're back in. If not, then you cannot compete in herding with that particular dog anymore. The points breakdown has changed a little in the trial classes, although I was not overly familiar with the breakdown before so I can't recall how it exactly went. A lot of the changes helped clarify, and reinforce some of the rules too. I am just waiting to get a copy of the new rules.
  23. OK the flies out there are mutant flies, I literally had 16 layers of aeroguard on and it did NOTHING! Find the strongest bug repellent you can You'll love it Riles, I was so sad when the workshop ended Lynn had so many great training ideas to try out, but then she has been doing herding for 20 years with many different breeds. We had an interesting mix of breeds at our workshop, a Bearded Collie, Old English Sheepdog, Finnish Laphund (spelling???), Briard, Aussie, and my girl Indi (Border Collie). If you have a camcorder, take it along :p I hope Lynn comes back to Australia soon.
  24. I like Vergil Hollands "Herding Dogs: Progressive Dog Training" Nice and easy to read and get into.
