That is a "water baby",Millie had one in her last litter and was desexed during the c-section.I also know of someone else in a different breed who had 3 of them.It is not genetic as far as i know, some think bacterial in origin,or something going wrong at conception.

I had to send the pup to NZ,she has gone over to do trailing. It was an extra $1000 + to use Dogtainers, but after all the running around on my side,i wont be doing it again From now on, people have to use a transport company. It is easier to bring a dog to australia from NZ than it is to send one from here to there. She got over there safely ,and has settled in well.

Sorry ,to me the breeder is just plain rude.I too am very busy,work,4 teenage kids and all THAT entails SES and the dogs, and i still managed nearly weekly pics. They were just casual pics, not stacked or anything as some i didnt choose for them till 5-6 weeks depending on the pups personality. Phone calls, emails(even the ones who send you constant ones) sending pics are all part of being a breeder-if you cant make time-then dont breed, pretty simple. What sort of relationship will the breeder have with you in the future-I think you have your answer. Can take your money but cant send a pic

so has the new girl arrived as yet...would love to know that she has landed safely & she has been visited in quarantine & all is OK. Importing is such a big worry...so I hope all is fine so far? As far as i know all is well, she comes out next week i think. Havent heard anything this week, been organising a bloodhound pup to NZ-what a bloody pain when its not through a dog courier. She should be arriving there now.

If mine get out(hope they never do) and they attack /"play" with someones stock,i would fully expect them not to come home.Because all dogs possess to some degree prey drive,is not an excuse dogs to kill stock, often repeatedly .YOU are responsible if your stock /dogs get out, whether intentionally or not.And of course all dogs have the capability to kill,it is up to YOU as a responsible owner to ensure they never have the opportunity if you live in an area with stock. I am paying a heap this year to do more fencing on a rental property as we are bordered by small farms with a lot of alpacas, but i have to do it to make sure my dogs,if they do ever get out, cant get to them.

Results From A Dual Sired Litter ?
centitout replied to Stolzseinrotts's topic in Breeders Community
Because in a rare breed esp,and you have a large/giant breed, you cant mate before 18 mths, and by 5/6 they are more than middle aged.To increase the gene pool quickly, this is a great way to do it.I only breed a bitch twice, maybe a third time if they only have small litters. I will certainly be planning dual sired litters for the 2 young girls down the track, and may even be doing one at the end of this year. -
i have dogs, birds, chooks, guinea pigs and rabbits for the kids,as well as fish-i am not going to do an annual licence for each one. What about people/breeders with multiple animals, stud farms etc.The laws just need ENFORCING,not more stupid legislation. You cant licence peoples stupidity. And too me,animals that are too fat etc come under welfare issues too-not just the malnourished ones. I had a horse in the paddock next to me,that was starving, the girl came every 2-3 days to feed him a biscuit of hay(17 hh TB)she was a uni student ,her parents well educated and had gone to pony club for years. The horse ended up eating a gutful of acacia pods and getting colic, which i happened to notice early luckily,i informed them, they came down and said he was fine.He was sweating, restless, kicking at his gut, pawing, looking anxious-ALL THE CLASSIC SIGNS.I argued with them and they finally let me call the vet who treated him for colic ,she also told them he was severely underweight,bu tagain, they said he was fine and they would not increase his feed. What do you do with people like that???? All the licences in the world wont do any good-and she got accepted into the police force

Earls not ugly :p hope he wasnt there when you typed that-he may never regain his self esteem -
9-12 mths for USA,if everything goes to plan.Pup needs to be rabies vacc at 12 weeks ,then titre tested 150 days BEFORE FLYING OUT,then 30 days quarantine here. Uk is a lot simpler-pup needs to be 12 weeks? then 30 days here, not sure of the testing requirements though for UK. The ones i know from the usa have been around $10,000+ for a big dog

Thats another problem- idiots who know there way around the court system. If fined,or made to pay the vet bills-its just "cry poor" and they get to pay it off at $5 week for the next umpteen years. Not good enough to someone who may have to pay thousands in vet fees to save their ripped up animal.

When will you be out showing again Centitout? Hopefully in the same region as Crookwell? i was going to do Boorowa, but pulled out as i have to muck around for 3 days in sydney to send the trailing pup to NZ,and i will have a new male as well next week,so flat out.Next one is Eugowra in march, and Yass Ag show at the end.I like the ag show ones because i can expose them to all the other different things like rides etc. -

I cant remember which one,it is the same weekend as the canberra royal  Yay maybe its the Bendigo show......see it does pay to stay local BB :D I will be the wierd stalker lady looking for Bloodhound babies now But we will have extra White Sheppie cuddles. Never know, it could be Berwick :p :p We have a winner Berwick it is -
I have seen 10 sheep killed by a JRT- it got a bout 50 head into a panic and they crushed into the corner of a paddock, but thats ok-it didnt actually rip into them i suppose
-
We also had 30 head of poultry-all my pets, from turkeys through to ducks and purebred chooks, killed one night after dogs (kelpies) dug under the 8 ft high fence which was electrified. Some were still alive but had to be euthanased due to extreme injury. These dogs were routinely out in a pack from a nearby farm,no action was taken to keep them contained,so when they were next seen on the property, they were shot as there were very valuable Tb foals on the ground at the time. I feel sorry for the dogs,it was the idiot farmer who was responsible for their deaths,my partner just carried out the penalty for his stupidity.
-
If there is irrefutable evidence it was those dogs-then yes,it should be automatically impounded and euthanased,no appeal. After seeing an old horse run into a fence by 2 german shepards and breaking two legs, staying with the old girl while they got the cops out and the sound of the old horse as she tried to get up,then her being shot-i have no compassion, sympathy for animals like these and they do not deserve to be around, whether contained or not.Sorry if that offends anyone with stock killing dogs.

The kids chi (3yrs) has just started stalking the dominant male bloodhound(11 mths) first thing in the morning to drink his pee while standing under him Like hes a bloody bubbler or something. Bloody disgusting,so i wait for him now and very actively discourage it .At least it isnt crap,if he was waiting for that he would be buried alive!

Revolution-fleas,Drontal for worming,or Canimex. I used Advocate for a while,as it is supposed to be an "all rounder" but it didnt work on worms, especially with pregnant bitches, pups all had very high worm burdens till i did them with Drontal puppy syrup. My vets wont even stock it anymore as they reckon its pretty useless. Ivermec off label for heartworm.

Well, i know infertility isnt true with close matings-someone should of told Bronte that BEFORE she had 18 Maybe though that was just her, although her daughter had 13 in her first litter as well, and she is from a brother /sister mating. -
Temp is right there with health for me.Most of mine go to family homes(i do prefer that) so it is a crucial thing with me.But they way they are trained/socialised by the new owner IMO has more of an impact than the 8 weeks at the breeders. I spend a lot of time socialising my pups, but if that isnt continued and the dog ends up sitiing in a back yard with no training/stimulation-what are you going to end up with? I would never use a dog that was HA,or very DA,no matter how well bred, how many champs etc.
-
Definately not my investment,i will be paying for the bitch that never was for the next year  It is a lot of money though,by the time you get semen,Surgical AI,all the tests etc,but something that needs to be done i suppose.

I Survived My First Show In 3 Years
centitout replied to centitout's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oooh which show??? I cant remember which one,it is the same weekend as the canberra royal, which she was originally going to,but they couldnt organise accom in time. I also had enquiries for pups to show within 10 mins of getting there,so hopefully next year there may be a few more in the ring.Surprising too,the amount of people that remebered Demon, and he was only shown sporadically.I hope Elaina doesnt mind me using this pic,he looks great in it (He is owned by her parents and was shown by Elaina when this pic was taken) -

More pedigree animals means more responsible homes to place them in. There are plenty of dogs in less than responible homes and plenty of ANKC breeders turn away buyers they consider unsuitable for the breed. Those buyers usually head straight for the Trading Post or a pet shop. Dog ownership is not a right. It is a responsibility for which self education is important. I have real issues with the idea of making more pedigree dogs available UNLESS programs are instituted to prepare appropriate homes for them. If you want an area where cooperation would make huge inroads, this is it. Vets, animal welfare organisations and responsible pedigree breeders can work together on this one. And this is starting to happen in small steps. Well,it was ,then we have puppy farmer vets lecturing us on animal welfare,so that avenue of education is going -
Its good the public is starting to question there motives, aims and how much they are making from this sort of rot.
