Vetmedin - Loss Of Appetite?
cavalier_resue_QLD replied to Jedi-77's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have a Cavalier on Vetmedin (as well as fluid tablets), he has two in the morning and one at night with dinner. I can honestly say that since he has been on it, he has a ridiculous amount of energy and appears to be a little bottomless pitt when it comes to food Its been a miracle drug for my little guy I suggest you have a chat to your vet about the loss of appetite for certain. -

Chicken Mince From Leonards Chicken
cavalier_resue_QLD replied to a topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
As a few people have mentioned, the quality does seem to differ significantly between various Lenards stores. Going back a few months now I was running late to get home after work, and had forgotten to get the kids BARF patties out of the freezer. I grabbed a kilo of lenards mice (they had never had it before, my dogs that is). It smelt fine, but was pale in colour, to which I was told was due the bone content. The kids loved it with biccies, but I only fed them probably 2 tablespoons of it each. About 12 hours later my eldest had horrendous vommitting and was diagnosed with severe Pancreatitis, and we expected the absolute worse. Several days later, and well over $1500 worth of vet bills he did come through. My specialist insists it was due to the terribly high fat content of the mince, and after ringing the lenards store and speaking to management, we were informed that over 50% of the mince mix is pure fat and skin. Having said that, I know several people who use the lenards mince and think its great. Probably just the store I went to, and maybe even just the batch I got? I would absolutely never use it again though, and I have gone off ALL premade foods now, inc BARF, for the very reason of having no bloomin idea whats actually in it! -
If its an amazin smell your after (and assuming the doggy odour isnt health related) I recommend Pet Esthe, and the Charcoal Mud range specifically for a white dog. I have just moved from Isle of Dog to Pet Esthe and when I open the door to come into the house, the gorgeous fragrance just hits you. Its really, REALLY gorgeous stuff A small bottle of Shampoo and a Small Conditioner will leave you with a few dollars change from a $50

Poodles' Coat Poor On Nutro
cavalier_resue_QLD replied to poodle proud's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My MIL has a mini poo, 13 years old and pretty much never been ill in her life. About 6 months ago MIL suddenly stopped buying Royal Canin and started a supermarket brand, proplan or something similar. I think things were a bit tough with loosing her job etc. Poor Poodles coat went from soft and thick and lucsious to sparse and wirey in a matter of weeks. Infact it was so sparse you could see through it to her skin in patches and suddenly, she looked, and acted, her age! She has since changed to Natural Balance, the Australian version though with some sardines once a week and Poody has gone back to normal. Happier dog, MUCH happier coat! -
Absolutely without a doubt Animal Options ar Ormeau. Rowan is a BRILLIANT vet, and as mentioned by the poster above, he practises both conventional and holistic medicine. The other vets are lovely too and my dogs thoroughly enjoy visits for accupuncture etc

cavalier_resue_QLD replied to poochiemama's topic in General Dog Discussion
Pet Pavillion in Elwood is brilliant. Estel, the spanish groomer is fabulous with the dogs. All the best brands, plus the owners parents own the original Pet Pavillion in London, and regularly bring over gorgeous english made beds and blankets etc Whenever we are in Melbourne, we go there, and when im not in Melbourne, they courier everything for me to Brisbane ;) -

Evening Jed! Just letting you know your ponies laughed at me today. I fell through your front fence and face planted into your muddy driveway They miss their mum, but they are both doing well, and enjoying all sorts of nice yummy things. I let them know that your starting to feel a wee bit better too. I have learnt that dinner time needs to be carried out at as faster pace as is possible if I wish to avoid a nudge up the butt, or a not so gentle 'toothy' reminder to my mid section Anyhoo, take all the time in the world, iv grown rather fond of them now, and Ill make sure they are all good until your back
