Ok now what you need to do is, hang the chicken breast fillet from the roof with the fishing line and skyhooks to entice your dog up and on to the bench so you can catch him in the act and effectively punish him, break the VB stubbies and stick them to the bench with bluetac (just like businesses do with glass bottles on top of there brick fences in areas such as redfern) this will no doubt be uncomfortable under your dogs feet. When you dog jumps up and on to the bench you have to immediately run out of the next room banging the old newspapers against the bucket whilst you yell at you dog with a whole new bunch of swear words that you have learned from the oxford dictionary. You should have created an appropriate tripod to hold the motion detecting camera in place to catch this priceless moment so you can post the video on dol, the left handed screw driver – bucket of sparks and thumbtacks are totally unnecessary and will no doubt offend many of the purely positive dog trainers who frequent dol. There are many more great methods of dog training similar to this mentioned in the Koehler Method of Dog Training which I suggest you purchase and read. Good luck and I look forward to the video. Oh dear...I know this is for all intents & purposes a thread for serious suggestions but this has to be one of the funniest threads I have read and this post in particular had me in stitches! Good luck Luke - I have nothing helpful to add - I'm just coming in for the giggles!

Recipes For Hard Dog Biscuits
Georgie-boy replied to InspectorRex's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Substitute the buttermilk for lactose free milk and instead of margarine why not use the nuttlex - dairy free stuff you can buy for us hoomans. I'd just have a play with stuff you know your kids can eat. -
It sounds like it is too tight. Have a look at where the lugs are - if they are on the first set then move them to the middle or if they are in the middle then move them to the last. If they are on the last the take the collar back and get a bigger one. The dog should be in no distress wearing the E-collar.

If they are attached by bone (which I have found most front dew claws are) then it will be a fairly decent operation. If they aren't attached by bone then it will be snip and stitch. That being said - I would also be inclined to leave well enough alone if there isn't a problem and if they aren't going to cause one.

Bayer don't make Preventic - Virbac do so you'll need to speak to Virbac. www.virbac.com.au. ETA website

Death During Routine Desexing
Georgie-boy replied to badboyz's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My apologies. I am well aware of what Domitor is and how it works. Perhaps I should have stated that Domitor is not a widely or commonly used premedicant. I certainly don't know of any vets who use it for anything other than sedation. But once again - I apologise - my statement, such as it was, was incorrect. -

Domitor is not a premedicant. -
I'd be cutting the corn off the cob. It's the cobs that cause obstructions.

Dematting rake - cost will depend on brand and where you buy it from. Have a look at some online pet stores. -

No need to panic - that amount will be fine. It she ate the entire bag...that may be a different story. -
Interceptor Spectrum

Do you mean Sentinel PS?? Interceptor covers Heartworm and gutworms - it does no other parasites. -

Kyla - Interceptor is a good product...will do what you want it to, has a wide safety margin. I would recommend it - have used it myself in the past. -
I do groom them both myself - the 2 times he went to the groomer (2 different groomers I might add) was when I had a knee operation and was out of action for a while. I much prefer doing them myself for the exact reason you mentioned. I have a Coat King and a Furminator (which I don't like) and at the moment I am using the CK every fortnight to get rid of some of the winter undercoat. My one problem with that is when do you stop? I can go for ages and still have more to come... I understand that each dog metabolises differently - I have done the no gluten, no carbs, protein specific etc etc diet - his diet was the first thing I looked at when the skin issues began. I appreciate your advice though.
-
Thanks! IMO his diet is not the issue - having a dog with ongoing skin issues, I am aware of his triggers and the need for supplements etc and he does get enough Omega 3, 6 & 9's plus raw food etc. I know diet can play a huge part but my girl, who is on the exact same diet has not got the same problems. Yep he has been clipped - at least twice and both times I specifically requested them NOT to clip him. I was not impressed and TBH I believe that it was after the 2nd clip that his coat really deteriorated. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions so far - much appreciated.

Hi all. My boy is 4 1/2 years old and has a rather difficult coat to maintain. It has, over the years, become a lot thicker and coarser than it used to be - he does naturally have a rather thick coat though. It also has flyaway bits and is just generally a bit of a mess. I have tried a few of the commercial brands of shampoos and conditioners in the hope that one might be suitable but unfortunately, to date, nothing has had much success. I have tried: * Aloveen both the shampoo and conditioner and the conditioner as both leave in and wash out. * Squirt sensitive skin shampoo & conditioner. * Squirt leave in detangler. * Dermcare Natural shampoo. * PAW sensitive skin shampoo. * PAW sensitive coat treatment. * Dermaleen. * Fidos - can't recall which one specifically. He also has seasonal skin issues which I manage without medication, so I try to buy only shampoos and conditioners that are suitable for sensitive skins. My question is - is there a particular shampoo, conditioner and/or leave in treatment/spray that you would recommend to help make his coat less harsh?? There are so many "show quality" ones around that I am loathe to just start buying them and experimenting and I get confused reading about them. Some advice from people who have actually used them would be nice. I am not expecting miracle results and nor do I think his coat will ever be as it was but I would like to be able to groom him without him hating it - he used to love it. Thanks in advance.

RIP brave Sophie.

I do...these were at about 9 weeks - they aren't the greatest and although it looks as though she has a full black nose - it is still quite pink around the outside. I wish I could find the one of her at 4 - 5 weeks as that was quite pink but I have no idea where it is - prob on my old computer!

Cleaning A Little Dog's Ears
Georgie-boy replied to Katdogs's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
DON'T use a cotton bud. I use a cotton ball on the end of my finger and use that to wipe around - after a good clean that is. -
Aimee's pup is a Cav. Aimee - Millie had pink pigmentation when she was a puppy too and it slowly filled in as she got older. She now has a completely black nose.

Get the Benadryl original formula and give the child dose. Antibiotics for KC are useless unless there is a secondary infection present so unless your boy is REALLY sick then riding it out will be fine. Just keep him well hydrated and isolated from other dogs. KC tends to sound a lot worse than it usually is. Hope your boy is feeling better soon.

Couldn't agree more.

We had a late run of it this year also.
