  1. I pay about $113 for a 15kg bag of Eaglepack Holistic. I get mine freighted up from down south and the company are awesome!
  2. I love Eaglepack - have tried Nutro but for me and my kids, I found the Eaglepack much better!
  3. Midol - can you put a small adhesive bandage type thing over it? I had to resort to an Op-site plaster thing (which I had left over from my knee surgery) to stop Millie from licking her stitches. She couldn't have a buster collar on or she couldn't get out the dog door to toilet. I found it worked well and I would change it daily and give the area time to breathe under supervision. You can get the Op-site bandage thingys (which incidentally are water proof) from chemists. Without seeing the area that is pulling apart its hard to tell if you should go to ER or if without the licking interference it will knit back together on its own. Tough call. If you're worried though - maybe it would be worth the trip?
  4. Fidos is soap free and hypoallergenic so unlikely to usually cause skin irritation but then stranger things have happened and you might be unlucky to have an overly sensitive puppy. Is your puppy on any other kind of flea prevention other than the shampoo? My instincts are that he has fleas as you will find that the effects of a flea shampoo are only good for around 3 days tops. You may not be able to see fleas either as they are light sensitive as will duck away as you try to part fur. You can try the oatmeal shampoo and see how you go - it may provide some relief. If your pup is not on other flea prevention I would be getting him on some asap. Failing that - I would be off to your vet to check the cause - the possibilities are endless.
  5. RIP Georgie. May you run free at the bridge. She was beautiful and obviously very much loved. So sorry for your loss.
  6. Ditto! Those instructions are more of a precaution than gospel and it means that the company has covered their butts legally. Use it as you would any normal shampoo.
  7. You could use Advantix spot on monthly and Interceptor spectrum tablet monthly. Advantix will do fleas & ticks and the Interceptor will do heartworm and gut worms. My kids get advantix monthly and drontal all wormers 3 monthly and they are on the yearly heartworm injection. There are so many different products that it might be good for you to speak to your vet and see what is likely to suit you and your puppy best
  8. Great advice! Your puppy is in control at the moment and he knows it! Dogs are smart and if you do as persephone has suggested, he will soon get the idea. Persistence and consistency is the key! Good luck! :D
  9. Has nothing to do with diet Gut worming is every 2 weeks until 4 months of age then every month until 6 months of age then every 3 months for life. Make sure you use a good all wormer like drontal.
  10. Awww - she's gorgeous!! The second photo is just priceless!
  11. Thanks Hazz! I didn't know that......I wonder whether that might be worth a go? Might try it once they run out of the Nutro
  12. I bought EP Holistic Lamb & Rice for my boy and fed both the kids on it. I thought it was excellent - the output was small, George scratched less (he has skin problems which was the main reason to buy it in the first place) and his coat was the best it had been in years. BUT he is also prone to putting on weight easily (typical Cavalier!) and unfortunately chunked up a bit on it. So we had to switch to Nutro light which is still very good but I think George did better on EP and I think they prefer the EP too. I just wish they had a light formula. Oh and George will be 3 in March and Millie 1 in April.
  13. He got it out to keep drying himself - here's the video of that Beagsy Drying Himself With The Towel Thanks for everyone comments...I have quite a few videos I will be able to add to the "mental dog thread" hehe Funny boy! Although I don't know how successful he was :p
  14. thats cute! Yep - my 2 do the same thing - I call it their psycho dog routine! We had a showing of that yesterday as they blatted up and down the house after their baths! Question though - what was your boy doing with that towel??
  15. :D to Bayer - they are excellent! Give the Capstar a try for some instant relief for you girl if you think the fleas are driving her (and you) nuts. Hope your plan of attack works quickly!
  16. Advantix is imidicloprid and permethrin - I have come across one client whose dog had a reaction to Advantix. I contacted Bayer on her behalf and there is a condition known as parasthesia (sp?) which is basically a reaction to permerthroids ie. permethrin. It generally only affects smaller dogs but is not only restricted to them. That being said - I have also had clients whose animals have had reactions to various other products as well so I guess all you can do is try another product and wait and see. They all have different active ingredients. Give her a bath in a flea shampoo but be aware that flea shampoos are only designed to last about 4 days max. There is a product called Capstar whch you can get from your vet. It is a tablet and is designed to kill the adult fleas on the animal within 30mins of having been given. It will only last 7 - 8 hours and is not designed as a long term fix and only give 1 every 24 hours. They are very good - I always have a pack on hand just in case. Use this in conjunction with a monthly spot (you need to kill the larvae) on product - maybe try Frontline or Advantage. Flea bombs aren't that effective - personally I find them a waste of money cos you want the spray to be going into the carpet not up and then supposedly down into the carpet and then they only do a limited area. I would be getting a professional pest company in to spray. Fleas are a pain in the butt - hope you get them under control soon :D
  17. Wonderful news! So pleased to hear your boy is doing so well. Shame he has to be away from you but the end result is all that matters. Lots of hugs to you both.
  18. Poor Bailey - hope that the surgery goes well. Thinking of you.
  19. I worm myself every few months just as a precautionary and because I work with animals. I have been using Vermox as it does Hookworm and I was told by the people at the pharmacy that Combantrim doesn't do hookworm. I figure its better to be safe than sorry - one of the nurses at work got Hookworm and was quite sick from it so I definately don't want to go there!!
  20. For dogs Revolution only does Heartworm and fleas - hence the reason you would also need to gut worm with a product like Drontal or similar. Puppies should be wormed fortnightly until 16 weeks old then monthly until 6 months old and then every 3 months for life as adults. Personally I don't like Revolution for dogs as I find it expensive and it doesn't "do" a lot for that expense. Using Frontline and Heartguard monthly will be fine - the other tablet your vet probably gave you was a tapewormer as Heartguard doesn't do tapeworm. Give your vets a call - the nurses will be able to explain everything to you so you are less confused.
  21. Nothing is going to protect against Kennel cough 100% and yes I'm sure that some dogs do react to the intranasal like the injection - everything is a risk. It was simply a suggestion to give the OP some further information to allow them to make an informed decision.
  22. Why not ask for the intranasal bordatella component for C5 rather than the injectable? The intranasal will still protect - providing you give it at least 2 weeks prior to boarding.
  23. My 2 get Eaglepack Holistic and Nutro Choice - they are worth the expense IMO. My boy has always had a rough fly away coat and after a few months on the above food - his coat is glossy & has no fluffy bits! Both my kids are doing really well on my chosen food - I also chose it due to having no preservatives, additives or corn. My boys breath has become nice again too. I will be sticking to this food for good.
  24. Oh he is a mighty, mighty hunter!! Couches & 1 legged teddies everywhere BEWARE!!
