  1. I took my dog to see Barbara Fougere last year. She was very good. The first visit was a bit of a  as the total bill was well over $300. One thing though, I trust them as the last thing they want is putting more chemicals in your dog's body.
  2. Hi Jake's mum, How much is the Hills's can? If you are in Sydney, take a look at this website http://www.naturalpetstore.com.au/products.php?cat=14 They carry Eagle Pack and another super premium brand Ziwi Peak. My dog lovesss Ziwi Peak both dry and canned. Ziwi Peak canned is $3.50 each or Buy 12 and SAVE 5%! ZiwiPeak ingredients are ranch-raised (free of antibiotics and hormones) with no colours, preservatives, fillers or grains.
  3. Hill's is owned by Colgate, Iams/Eukanuba is owned by Proctor & Gamble. Some of you might find this link to be informative. http://www.rateitall.com/i-24995-science-diet.aspx Especially reviewer named puppyloverkb (18)
  4. I'll second that eeek.. I am always feeding my guys broccoli if there is left overs My dog loves raw broccoli. He comes around to the kitchen real quick when he hears me cutting up broccoli. I always give him a few pieces.
  5. All you need is a good dog brush and some baking soda! Baking soda is a great cleaning agent, so when it comes to keeping your dog clean, baking soda can really do the trick and go a long way. If you really want to give your dog a good dry bath, you'll need a good amount of baking soda, so don't skimp. (The baking soda is non-toxic and safe for use around your dog. It is a quick way to a fresh dog!). All you have to do is sprinkle baking soda all over your dog's fur, and you might want to rub it into the coat a bit. Then you just need to use a good dog brush to brush it all out. This could take a few times brushing your dog all over, because you really want to brush out all the baking soda. It's not that the baking soda will hurt the dog, you just don't want your dog tracking it in all over the place! Another thing to keep in mind with this technique is to do it outside, where it won't matter where the baking soda goes. You don't want to be left sweeping up baking soda from your porch or vacuuming it up from your carpet. So, there actually is a way to keep your dog fresh in between regular baths. (You definitely still need to give your dog wet baths because baking soda just freshens, it doesn't "deep clean.") The method is simple and the results satisfying—here's to a fresh and clean dog all the time! Step 1: Rub in baking soda into your pet's coat. Step 2: Brush the coat with a pet brush or comb. Step 3: Keep brushing until the baking soda looks as though it has disappeared. The baking soda will take the dirt and "refresh" your pet's coat.
  6. I took my dog to see Barbara Fougere several times last year. She's great.
  7. I was in the same situation as you Dorothyn. I called the company and got a 1kg tub instead of the 250g tub. I was told that the expiry date of the 1kg is March 2009 and you can put half in a separate container and store it in the fridge without opening it till you are ready to use it again, he said that you can add another year to it. My dog only needs 2g a day. If it's giving him sloppy poo I'd be changing the kibble completely, especially seeing as it's been going on for so long. It's obviously not agreeing with him Clyde, I've just ordered protexin last week. I'll give protexin a go and see how things turn out. Hopefully it will firm up his stools.
  8. I just ordered protexin powder 1kg. Hopefully this will bulk up my dog's stool.
  9. I'm thinking of ordering protexin powder for my dog. Since he's been on ZiwiPeak, his stool is quite mushy hard to pick up. I've been feeding him ZiwiPeak for a year now and he loves it. Does anyone know if protexin will help him to firm up his stool? How much should I give him? He's about 12kg. Thanks
  10. ZiwiPeak and Innova. I bought Innova from Pets R fun the other week.
  11. TLP, I don't know if you've seen this article before http://www.whole-dog-journal.com/sample/food.html It's quite interesting.
  12. Thanks TPL..if you are able to find the 2008 list, please let us know.
  13. Hesapandabear It appears to me that you want to make this a big deal. You are right, there is no point why I post those brands that are not available in Australia. As I already gave you my honest answer that I copied from what I found which also listed what's available in Australia. That whole list came from the Whole Dog Journal. I apologise for not making it easier, but there's no need to bash me about this. I hope you are not upset and taking it out on me, because what you feed your dog rate as a 2 star according to http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_re...=1&si=nutro and worst Dry Dog Foods according to Whole Dog Journal. Regarding the criteria, Tpl has already answered that "To understand the criteria you would have to subscribe" which I'm not. The information I posted WORST DOG FOOD/ BEST DOG FOOD came from the Whole Dog Journal. If you need further information please subscribe. It is clear to me that you are upset no matter what I have to say (which is hardly). I see no point in responding to you any further.
  14. Hesapandabear, To be honest, I didn't want to go through and delete one by one. It's easier to just copy and paste. I hope that helps.
  15. Hi Tpl, Yes, I think I got the 2007 for best dry dog food and a combination of a few years on the others. I would think that what's already listed do remain the same in 2008 with more brands added.
  16. I got the information from searching and that's how they listed so I wanted to share with members here. You can skip those foods that are unavailable in Australia if they are not of your concern
  17. Artemis also have a full range of puppy, adult, senior and diet foods for different size breeds that do have a lot less protein. Artemis Fresh Mix Adult contain 23% protein which is around the same as Eagle Pack Holistic, Innova, Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance etc...
  18. I sent an e-mail to http://k9katzkitchen.com.au/store/index.php I put in a request for a sample. They are located in Melbourne. Delivery to Sydney is only $6.95 for a 6.8kg bag. I'm going to give it a go if my dog likes the sample. I'll still feed him ZiwiPeak for breakfast though. He really loves that stuff.
  19. Artemis Pet Food Company, Inc. is a manufacturer and supplier of holistic pet foods. Established in 1998, and based in North Hollywood, California on the premise that an animal's health starts with its diet. 21. Hi SeaMonkey, Dog food analysis for Nutro rate as 2 star dry dog food http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_re...=1&si=Nutro Orijen is 6 star premium dry dog food http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_re...915&cat=all Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance Organic 4 star dry dog food http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_re...168&cat=all Please read the reviews..they are pretty useful information.
  22. http://www.naturalpetstore.com.au/index.php have them. They are in Sydney.
  23. Hey Panda! good dog! but the photo is deceiving..........a German Spitz or a Jap Spitz??? I have 4 Germans!!! He's a Japanese Spitz. Japanese Spitz only come in white. Wow! 4 German spitzs..I'm so jealous, we used to see a black German Spitz, but he's now living in Queensland. He was really cute. Btw, not only I feed my dog sardine in spring water, I feed myself, too  I don't like it on its own so I turn it in to sardine salad with balsamic vinegar. The reason I choose sardine is because smaller fish, such as sardines and herring, are most likely to be free from mercury accumulation. When buying them canned, look for ones packed in their own oil, olive oil, or water rather than in soybean or cottonseed oil, which are not as good for you. The whole fish offer the benefit of calcium because you eat their bones. They have the most omega-3s. I don't like them in oil because it's too fatty.
  24. I buy Brunswick brand in spring water, no salt added. I prefer to give my dog without the added flavour and he loves it. They come in 106g can.
