well maybe you and I need to go first - and practice , then put up our pics. Then "they" might think we're worthy Trouble is, the zoo is a huge day for me - it will take a half hour drive, then a 1 hr train ride just to get to the city - then of course I dread to think how much it costs to actually get in. So I won't be able to go very often Hubby is off to Sydney for a few days late next week for work, so I could use his train ticket I guess while he's away. That would save a few dollars.

there used to be some "stuff" you could buy from optometrists to stop spectacles from fogging up when opening the oven door - it came in a tub and was pink I think. I don't have any, but do you think it would be ok to use on the lens? Annie

oh lovely - I'm excited - when are we going

Photography Field Trip To Melbourne Zoo?
anniek replied to Kirislin's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Bugger - weekends I am usually either doing adoptions or promotions so not sure what I can squeeze in. Any day during the week is fine for me though. Please - just organise amongst yourselves, post the date, and I will see what I can do, although first Sunday of each month we have a promotion at Bittern Market so that date is always out. Annie eta Kirislin - if you want to go one weekday next week I would love to go. Any day suits me. -
bugger Kirislin - I'm too slow - I was going to ask if i could meet you there. We have the same camera (except for your new lens), and although I don't post much and don't usually venture much past "sports", I do try to at least read the posts! Would be interested in a trip. Annie

Our local IGA sometimes has "half sides of veal" on special for $2.99 a kilo. So yes we feed it to the greys, chops, ribs, whatever is in the pack

I've seen pig heads for sale at the supermarket and I just can't quite screw up the courage to bring one home for the dogs! *grimaces at the thought of my dogs eating pig eyes!* I'm sure if I did buy one Luka would give it a good go but I'm sure Molly would be horrified! She's a bit of a princess when it comes to food. I love all the fishy ideas...I really had no idea what fish to feed beyond sardines. Off to the fish market this weekend I think. Maybe I'll even pick up something for myself! just for you!
-
I have lots here with LOOOOOOOOONG pointy noses if you want to borow some!
-
Yes well, after watching them pick the eyes and nose hairs out of pigs heads I figure fish tails are quite tame entertainment
-
Mine get the lot - the whole fish - bones, head, scales, fins whatever. I buy the cheapest, so usually whole sardines, sometimes salmon head with the frame attached - chomp chomp chomp

Allergy/intolerance - Update 28.4.09 Post # 106
anniek replied to Erny's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
:p sorry shouldn't laugh - hope he continues to improve Erny If we can't laugh at ourselves for the intense interest we take over our dog's poo, then we have a bigger problem than we already think, Anniek. So go ahead and laugh ..... I do ;). I guess you just had to "be here" last night as we'd just had a lovely beef vindaloo for dinner I couldn't mention it at the time or I would have myself! -

Don't know where "south eastish" you are, but when I'm up that way, I call in at Parkmorw shopping centre. There's an asian butcher next to the chicken shop, and I buy pork bones for $3kg - meaty ribs chopped into 3. brisket bones - $2 each, chopped into 4. and whole ox tongues. Tasman wholesale meats in Berwick have a few boney bargains too. Other than that, you can get "H bones" from most of the poultry places - around Cranbourne/Devon Meadows - they're the chickens chopped up, but in the wrong size/shape etc for selling. Usually about $6 for 10kg. Have a ring around. annieK edited to answer the original question. Around $1 per day per greyhound to feed
-
We often take in greyhounds with teeth like that. Suprisingly not all of them have extractions - most of the time just a deep clean is enough! annieK

Yes - thats from salmon from the Pacific Northwest of the USA The salmon we get here is fine

Long-lasting "chew" Treat For Toothless Dog?
anniek replied to Kitt's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Have you tried giving her a whole ox tongue? My greys get one each for dinner once a week, they are a really good chew without being a bone, and healthy. annieK -
I sometimes buy whole sardines - around $5 per kilo. Tthey're about 6 inches long - get around 10 in a kg. The greys get 2 or 3 each with other stuff for a meal, so a kg will last two meals (2 weeks). annieK
-
Yes, but not from a "package" - fresh from the fish man

the celebrity Dr Jack on 3AW was talking a while ago about how it is fine to feed cooked bones. He actually repeated it several times as he said a lot of people wouldn't agree. Maybe things were a bit slow at his surgery that week! annieK

When Cowboy had both of his top premolars out (the big prey teeth), I fed him just raw chopped meat for the first couple of days - beef & chicken. Then on day three he also had chicken necks and wings, then from day 5 back to normal - frames, brisket etc.. It seemed to take him forever to get through his first frame, and even now (months later) he has trouble with the first crunch, no longer having those teeth. He had disolvable stitches and everything healed up nicely and very quickly. annieK

oh lovely - I have picassa and I've just started using it for collages how did you do the bird thingy? annieK

Another Question... Best Cooling Mat?
anniek replied to Kelly_Louise's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I just fill soft drink bottles with water & freeze them - they can cuddle them and in winter they get them filled with not too hot water!
