Must say I'm very disappointed with the lack of photo's for this challenge - composition to me, is what makes a pic a great pic, rather then an ok (or crap) pic. So I would have thought lots of people would have been keen to learn and experiment. Anyhoo I hope it soesn't put Ash off creating more challenges.. Here's a couple more from me. the usual ho hum and view across the road at the end of the big storm we had last week (I got my slippers wet for this one).

My favourite too - lovely!

Sunday we went to the 2010 Integrated Indian Festival of Australia held at Sandown Racecourse. It was magnificant. Unfortunately I only took my 17-70 lens (not the far away one), so had to do a fair bit of cropping. They had a huge stage set up indoors where they had traditional music And outdoors - the Bollywood set this fellow was my favourite

thanks kirislin - he does a lot of standing in the sea after his big zoomie - it helps cool his aging "racing" toes which aren't real good. I try to stick to GSN dogs in the calendar, but I might put it on redbubble so I can buy a card :D

just keeping this thread bumped - these were taken this morning with the 1.8 it's the only lens i can cope with at the beach as the others are too bulky to deal with when i have the dogs flying around! hey - there's a toller up your bum

here's foster Cinnamon again! Oh and I'm keeping the best one for our 2011 calendar - you won't see it here ;)

WOW amazing - fantastic, Congrats to both. I too would love to see the pics you both entered.

Well I won't comment on your taste in cameras, but will say you have excellent taste in "viewing". We are watching the whole 7 series, bit by bite - currently half way thorugh season 6 Not sure what we'll do when it's all gone And it's "Tea, Earl Grey, hot".
-
WOOT WOOT - well done I do quite well on there, but only because it's a fundraiser for the greys, and our adopters like to buy cards things with their grey on it

I guess you need to find out what "they" want as a group photo. I took pics at SIL 40th a couple of months ago, and although I took lots of natural pics, she wanted lots of posed ones with her friends. And then a big family posed one. So I would suggest you do both

I have a couple of her prints - they are fantastic.

Here she is

I actually prefer the original. It's the wonky horizon that bugs me when I look at it.

I know - I'm picking up a new foster this afternoon, so will have a new subject She's a very pretty blue fawn - they look amazing in the late afternoon sun - so get ready! Kirislin - love those shots - the colours and depth are great.

right or wrong - it's the funniest thing I've seen in awhile

http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/teen-tha...00408-rt6u.html Teen that stabbed attacking dog fears charges MEGAN LEVY April 8, 2010 - 10:41AM A boy who stabbed a pit bull cross dog that was mauling his pet labrador says police had told him he could now be charged with animal cruelty. Kurt, 13, said he stabbed the dog three times with a carving knife after it entered his backyard in Melton and launched a vicious attack on his pet dog named Cougar. Cougar died from injuries sustained in the attack, which Kurt estimated lasted for up to 1.5 hours. But now he claims he is facing a possible animal cruelty charge on top of the loss of his beloved pet, which he had owned for three years. Kurt's grandfather Ron Russell said Kurt was extremely worried at the prospect of being charged. "Apparently the police did tell him that there is a chance he could be charged, mainly depending on the owner next door," Mr Russell told radio station 3AW. "Kurt's a bit sort of concerned about that. That hasn't happened, and hopefully it doesn't," Kurt said he was playing in the backyard with a friend when the pit bull cross broke into the yard and ran for Cougar. "It went straight for the neck, just immediately for the neck and attacked. Cougar went on the ground then the pit bull next door went for Cougar's legs after that," he said. "I hit the pit bull with wood, metal and then at the end I turned to knives." Kurt said he ran into the kitchen and grabbed a carving knife before heading to the laundry door, where the dogs were fighting. "I opened up the laundry door a few centimetres and got the dog twice in the back and one in the stomach," he said. "It tried to go for me but I shut the door quickly. It was still attacking Cougar." The pit bull was injured but continued the attack, only stopping when Cougar lay lifeless on the ground, Kurt said. Cougar was taken to the vet however he died soon after, while the pit bull was put down with its owner's permission. A Victoria Police spokeswoman said she was seeking more information about the incident. Tough new laws cracking down on dangerous dogs are expected to be introduced in Victoria by mid-year following a vicious pit bull attack in Portland last month, in which a woman nearly lost an arm. The woman was mauled for up to two minutes, sustaining injuries to both arms and her face, before her neighbours intervened, throwing a wheelie bin to scare the male dog away from its victim. Following that incident, Premier John Brumby said the new legislation would involve tougher penalties, some curtailment of dangerous dog owners' rights and extended powers for council officers to apprehend and destroy unidentified dangerous dogs found "roaming the streets". A 2005 Victorian ban on breeding and importing American pit bull terriers had seen their numbers decline.

the tide was right out, so they had lots of interesting rock pools to sniff in and shallow water to zoom through! and in the midst of the zoomies - one of these trotted past

just googled and found this ...... FIXED MY "CARD LOCKED" problem, where the camera said that the card was locked when the switch for the SD card was set to unlocked. This "card locked" message was displayed for more than one card for me, so I knew it had to do with the camera itself. This rendered my camera useless since I could not take any pictures, no matter what SD card I used. SOLUTION: The solution to my problem had to do with the card locked sensor mechanism in the SD card slot. For my camera (Canon SD600), it has a spring sensor (on the left wall of the SD Slot) that detects the whether the SD card lever is set to locked or unlocked. If the SD Card is set to locked, the position of the SD Card lever presses against the sensor mechanism and pushes it in, and when the SD card is set to unlocked, the mechanism is allowed to stick out. The problem with my camera was that the sensor spring somehow got pushed in further than it was supposed to and a piece of the sensor was stuck in one of the groves in the SD card slot. To fix this, I took a small paper clip, unbent one of the sides and bent the tip of it to make a mini hook, and carefully prodded what I thought was the sensor. The sensor mechanism had a bit of bounce to it (which confirmed my guess that it was the part that was pushed in when the sd card is set to locked), so I proceeded to "hook" the furthest part of the sensor and gently pulled it out until it "sprung" out of the little grove that it was stuck under. After that I put in my SD card in and it worked like new!!
