  1. No real advise, other than to say this is what my old boy does at 9:05pm at night if he hasn't had his walk. He gets up close, growls and barks into my face, clacking his teeth while his tail does helicopters. Then he slowly backs away. I just tell him to shut up and he goes and lies down. It does sound similar except for it going on for hours. Annie
  2. I guess it's a bit like why buy a V8 that can do 250kph when the speed limit is 100, or why shop at David Jones when you can get a "nice" frock at the op shop If you want something and can afforsd it - why not
  3. Whilst my two dogs found it quite palatable, the kibble is way way too small for them. We are now using grrain free Canidae - and love it so much, we managed to get them to sponsor us
  4. still under/around $100 on ebay with free postage
  5. I think you will find in the "time" thead that although a lot of posters said that their dogs whined at certain times of the day when they expected food, very few if any actually fed the dogs because/when they whined - I sure don't. Like most posters in that thread they get fed when they get fed
  6. We do not have a daily doggy routine - I work some days, and don't others. OH gets home anytime between 6pm and 9pm. Weekends he is home. Some days the dogs get a quick oval walk in the morning and have an early breakfast - around 9am. Some days they do not get a morning walk and have breakfast around 8am. Some days, like today, they get to go to the beach for an hour early morning and have breakfast after their long snooze around 11am or even noon. Some days they (or one of them) get another walk in the afternoon. Despite all of this, they will start pacing and whining at 6:30 wanting their dinner. I have even fed them breakfast at 3pm and still, they expect dinner by 6:30. Sometimes they get it then, sometimes not. We live in a very quiet area - no real passing traffic, so I don't know what this 6:30pm thing is all about.
  7. good grief - I am so glad I have greyhounds and a greyhound specialist vet!
  8. I pay $41.20 for a greyhound x-ray, but then they don't need any sedation. Recently had three versions of the same wrist on one "sheet" $41.20
  9. Week 11 of Greyhounds a quick snap, but because my guys do not ever ever play together, this is a special moment
  10. Week 11 of Cowboy - nothing special just the usual regal greyhound pose
  11. it is possibly greyhounds rooing
  12. Normal people (not doggy DOL people) would just drive away, probably saying stupid bloody dog, and/or feeling shaken by the near miss. They would not have given you or the dog a second thoought.
  13. Week 10 of Greyhounds -- missed opportunity -- I was "wearing" the 100mm - he got too close - then I slipped
  14. Cowboy week 10 - early morning activities!
  15. Unlesss they are bringing down whole prey, they are not tearing at the meat with their front toofers. I give mine turkey drumsticks to tear at. Having said that, my two are fed mostly raw - meaty bones every night, lots of large slabs of stewing steak they have to tear at, but have shocking teeth. Mouth bacteria is different from dog to dog, and sometimes raw food makes no difference. I inspect every night, and brush when needed - usually every couple of days.
  16. So very sorry CM - I felt as though Texas was part of my family too - he loved the beach just like my old soldier does. How wonderful that he was so happy right up intil the end. You did the right thing by him, no doubt about that. You will miss him so much I know, but it will get a little better over time, and you have such wonderful photographic memories. Run fast over the dunes sweet Texas.
  17. IF it were me and I had my time again - ie if I had bought the 30mm first - I wouldn't have bothered with most of my other lenses. 30mm and crop if needed.
  18. Canon 7D here with a Sigma 17 - 70 - IMO it is a nice take to the beach lens in good light, but becaue it is 4.5 at the pointy end it is of little use in very low light situations Sigma 30mm 1.4 IS THE BEST in almost no light, then I like my Canon 100mm 2.8 Canon 70-200 - harly ever use as it is too heavy for me, and for me shooting dogs, I prefer a small sized lens that can easily be gotten out of the way of a jumping dog!
  19. no dog is allowed off-lead in NSW except in designated council off-leash areas. yes - that is offlead!
