  1. Hi I would also smear the lead with something that they hate the taste off this should also stop them attempting to chew on it. I can't remember what I was recommended sorry, tea tree oil and something else? Maybe other members can recommend something?
  2. Yes I am another Nutro convert I unfortunately spoilt my boy rotten so he is a really picky eater. I was finding it really hard to put weight on him. I tried Super Coat (caused the most hideous farts ever to come out of a dog!), Science Diet, Ekunuba, Eagle...... While he still wont eat it dry I am able to mix it with a little something and he will eat it. He is on Nutro Performance as he doesn't need to eat much to get the recommended amount. I noticed immediate improvement in the size of poo's and he is slowly building size. I got mine freighted from 4 Paws at Keilor Park (mind you I am on this side of them) it cost $9 extra but they threw in a frizbie and little squish toy, so I was excited! But I also think Nutrience would be a good brand too, although I haven't tried it.
  3. Do you mean barking while playing or as protecting? I don't know much about labs but I wouldn't be too concerned as the older he gets the more he will take on the responsibility of protector, he is still only a baby. And I probably wouldn't want to encourage barking while playing as I could imagine it being an annoying habit as an adult. I have a dogue de bordeaux and they are known to be excellent none aggressive guard dogs, as a puppy I never heard a peep out of him, and I was thinking 'yer right great guard dog' but the more settled and older he got the more he has taken on this role. He still hardly barks but if he does I will always check as he will never bark for no reason. So I would be happy if I was you as most people want to stop their dog from barking. BTW congrats on the new puppy! Post piccie please!
  4. Hi I too mixed wet and dry for my puppy. He wouldn't eat dry kibble by itself so I used to mix it other stuff, then he would just eat around the kibble. I tried every Premium Dog food, known to man. My advice is not so much what to feed everyones advice here is great, but don't keep on changing your puppies diet until you find something she loves. I have created a monster by doing this, my dog would hold out until he was served something he loved preferably BBQ chicken They are quick learners! I ended up with the pickest 1.5yo. imaginable! He is currently on Nutro Premium which is good as he doesn't need to eat alot to get his recommended dietary intake and I know he is getting all the nutrients he needs. This I still have to mix with something else though. Save yourself the stress! Don't start any bad habits!
  5. With Premium dry dog food, IMO they are all going to pretty good for your dog, just as long as its for Large Breed. Some people prefer Science Diet because the kibble is large and makes the dog chew its food. My 18 month old dogue de bordeaux was exactly the same I have tried Ekenuba, Science Diet, Eagle etc...... all mixed with something else unfortunately I kept on changing food trying to find something he loved so nows he knows to hold out and wait till he gets something he loves!!!!! I have created a monster and am in the process of trying to change this habit. I recommend you do a search on dry dog food, or even fussy eater and you should find heaps of information. I would take everyones advice on eating proceedures too as its been an 18 month headache!!!!!!!!!!!!
