The Bichon is probably enjoying its short back and sides  ive seen some poodles with such dreadful "pet" clips i can see the dog is cringing and begging mummy to take me home im embarrassed... Yep... I know those people, with their weird requests. Ive asked for photos to compare to to make sure they reeeeaaallly want their dog groomed in what strange way they ask... then i usually end with... "please dont tell people *I* did that..."

'dog Killer' Had 'killing Person In Bucket List'
Maxiewolf replied to whiskedaway's topic in Dog Cruelty and Abuse News
Sick. Sick. Sick. And its the DOGS that are the dangerous ones? I feel so sorry for anyone missing a dog in this area now... -
Cross posted from the News thread in case you don't go there, since this thread is to do with the sunshine coast initially - Here is what your up against here with the problem with roaming/offlead dogs. Here you go Classic example of what's wrong with the Sunshine coast council - I rang them to report a problem dog, this dog lies in the middle of the street, wanders up and down the road, considers the whole street to be its territory, stalks, growls etc. I rang to explain to the council that I want to see this dog confined in its yard, that its not a stray and I've seen it walked on a leash before. They wanted the exact address where the dog lived, and would not do any ground work on an approximate address (aka too hard for them to send a ranger to door knock a couple of houses in the area.) They wanted my exact name and address, and would not take it as an anonymous complaint (even though I am concerned the owner will know its me that has reported him, because he knows my car and has seen me fend his dog off my dogs before so I'm sure he has a good idea who will have reported him.) I gave my work address since that's what they had on file from where I fruitlessly complained about a savage dog breaking into my yard from a neighbours... I said my husband is at home during the day and can call you when he sees the dog out "We don't have the resources to follow up on that" was the answer I got, I was also told if they happen to do a drive by, or call in to see the owner if the dog doesn't happen to be out at the time... Guess what.. they can/will do nothing but say that the dog has been seen out, and "advise" him on what to do. They say they cant do anything unless they "Catch" the dog out. (She also asked if I could catch it and I said I wouldn't.) - BUT they wont/cant come at the time you report the dog IS OUT NOW??? So there you have it in a nutshell, thats the attitude of the sunshine coast council and their resources... and they want MORE laws they cant enforce? Yep good one.

Dogs don't "Need" to be let off leash on their walks, they don't "Need" to go to off lead parks for socialisation. A dog can get all the physical and mental stimuli he needs at home with proper training, and an onlead relaxed walk is fine for the dog to get his "Update" on whats going on in the neighborhood. Yes, it is nice to be able to let your dog offleash for a run, but in this day and age it seems that while there are too many dogs out of control and on the loose, I personally cant remember the last time I met a well behaved dog that was off leash, the rules are the rules and yes it has been spoilt for those of us with well trained and well behaved dogs. But Id rather know that I can take my dog for a walk in peace, anywhere and know that neither I or my dogs are going to be rushed by some uncontrolled possibly vicious dog who's owner has no control and will take no responsibility. Sad state of affairs but its the truth.

http://www.sunshinecoastdaily.com.au/story/2012/02/20/review-flags-changes-dog-laws/ A council that cant enforce its current dog laws shouldn't be given MORE power to cover up the products of their lack of management in my opinion. I never see a ranger in the parks, I never see a ranger just walking around being seen... I never see a ranger handing out fines for dogs off lead in places where the law tells people they should be on leads. Start Fining people big money when their dogs escape from their yards the FIRST time, that way people might start securing their dogs out of fear of having their pockets punished since most of these people obviously don't care about the safety of their dog, other people or other dogs because they think its okay for their dogs to be out. Off lead dog parks should have a full time ranger there to ensure people who obviously have no control over their unsocialised/untrained dogs - are asked to leave or be fined for not having control over their dogs. There wouldn't BE this many dog attacks if people where AFRAID of the Laws. The council then needs to use the money obtained from fining ignorant owners to hire dog trainers and provide free or cold coin donation obedience schools/ puppy classes for registered dogs. Give more people a REASON to register their dogs, Cos Right now.. I dont see the council doing very much to warrent me givng them my money, And I worry about them having more power to abuse.

Oh Id love to help you there, because I know exactly how you feel! Off-Leash dogs has to be one of the poorest enforced "laws" the Sunshine Coast council has!! I'm tired of being rushed at, worried, stalked and other wise concerned about other people and their not having their dogs on leashes around here!! Every morning or afternoon when going to and from work you see people walking down the foot paths with their dogs 3 meters off in front of them or more no lead to be seen. Its always a worry is the dog gonna suddenly dart out across the road in front of me. And the council have the gall to bring in more laws such as dogs are to be kept on leads no longer than three metres, not permitted near the picnic tables (this to me is the stupidest law ever, its my food if i want my dog near it Its my problem... i don't see anyone disinfecting the seagull poo off the tables!)The law should be your dog needs to be on a lead and NOT permitted to worry or wander near OTHER people or the BBQ's Also one of my dogs is nervy, and growls and snaps at other dogs, I make her wear a muzzle when i think we may encounter other dogs cos I know its easier to know MY dog is under control and safe because noone else seems to care when your trying to control a nervous or scared dog while their dog is dancing around you "wanting to say Hi" Dogs belong on a Lead unless at home, or in an offlead park. Thats the law and too many people keep getting away with it and this is why there are so many "Incidents!!"

My Girl is a bit of a Klepto... she steals the weirdest frikking things too... no matter where you put them, and she is so sneaky and silent about it. Apart from things like shoes (big favorite those) she steals really weird things like the little metal stand that holds up the mosquito coils... (YES) - she picks the coil off it... and drops that on the ground then takes the metal thingy. Spray cans, like fly spray or deoderent.... she takes those. I mean these are the kinds of things you would think why the hell would a dog even go near this stuff!! Oh yes.. and anything that belongs to the cat.

Some of these are Classic Don't get a Dobermann if - You cant handle little black hairs on everything, and ever want to remove them. You want the postman to leave you parcels instead of throwing them over your fence. You can handle a 35kg + Velcro Dog that wants to be on you beside you, under you... generally in your clothes with you if possible. You don't want to ... throw the ball.... throw the ball..... THROW THE BALL!! Your not happy to cradle your emotionally fractured dog because he cant understand why people/cats/children/other dogs are afraid of him. (yours is docked) - Your not happy for people to drop what ever they are doing and come up to you and harass you in the street as to how/why your dog has a docked tail, with no concern for your personal space or your dogs. You have a European dobermann and are happy to be constantly asked what he is crossed with or be told he isn't a Dobermann because of his size. You don't want people to tell you off for having a "vicious" dog out in public - Yep it happens You don't want a dog that convinces you they are dumb as a post then cos you let your guard down suddenly comes up with some scary smart plan to get what they want.

Sue Worthy? Dont forget it is in the USA, Im sure there is a rule there saying anyone can be sued for everything ;) . I got confused there but when you re read it... it says that the lawyers dog had the tail snipped etc at the same place... surprising that they hadnt already sued over that... And tell me about the ears! I made the tinyiest little nic on a bedlingtons ear with a #30 and it bled so much I got into such a panic! it was gushing and the nic was so microscopic i could barely find out where to put the powder to stop it bleeding....

Sunshine Coast Woman Hurt Trying To Save Her Dog From Attack
Maxiewolf posted a topic in In The News
http://www.sunshinecoastdaily.com.au/story/2012/02/15/woman-hurt-in-bid-to-save-her-pet-woman-collapses/ ... Very very sad and Tragic, and the council is too busy bringing in more stupid useless dog laws here when they cant even police the SIMPLE ones they had such as keeping your dog confined, and ON A LEAD. ... I am surprised this doesnt happen more often around here, there are so many loose dogs, Im rushed by at least 3 every time i go walking no matter what route I take, Im stalked by an offlead unconfined staffy in my own street - reports to council never bring any fruit. How sad for that poor woman -
Brutus has had an ongoing problem with the ingrown hairs, he had a spot on his leg like that that comes an goes. Its an ongoing problem... hit it with the antibiotics for a while and it goes a away and then nearly heals then for some reason it will randomly flare up again. I also mix up a magnesium solution to draw the hairs out and the other gunk... that works wonders.

I think the owners made a big mistake walking away, I mean even if your afraid you will get reported, I'm sorry but if your dog bit me and it caused me to be left laying on the ground bleeding, and you stayed to be responsible for the situation and comfort me... Id be more likely to recommend your dog see a behaviorist or start wearing a muzzle in future, try to be helpful cos you took responsibility for your actions, But If you did what these people did... know their dog was dangerous, caused injury AND then did a runner... I'm sorry Id treat you like someone who hit me with their car and drove off... Id pursue you to the ends of the law, in every possible way and make you regret not taking responsibility for your dogs actions and your own. Your poor friend PP! Hope she is okay!

Exactly, heck Its not like a landlord can even make a stipulation that teenagers or kids be kept outside in the backyard either >_> I really think that refusing tenants to have an animal should be viewed with the same type of discrimination that would be called out if you where to say "No Kids", there are many people who rent who either no longer have children, cant have children and their pets are what fills that void in their life, why should they be punished? I don't think even in my childhood home where I lived for 18 years did ANY of our pets (dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, parrots etc. etc.) ever damage our house, yet I had one ex-boyfriend break a window, bend a shower-head AND put a hole in the ceiling all in one week.... And what about the amount of damage that drunken people do? Do they say no drinking in houses as well? Seen many a hole in a wall there, or no people with nasty tempers? Really why are PETS vilified so much with rentals anyway?

I use a prong collar on brutus, Ive made my own cover for it cos I was tired of the abuse of people who cant be told, or wont even listen to your side of the argument. I'm so tired of it Ill be investing in a low profile flat one from k9 pro, and I bet theres not one word said about it because it doesn't "Look" horrible. Yet No one says anything about my bitch and her check chain, At least a prong collar is idiot proof. (maybe even for this woman) - unlike a check chain where anyone can buy one and 9/10 times put it on wrong and choke their dog. I would have been on the calmly stand there and say, go ahead call the police, actually you know what Ill save you the trouble. Ill call them for you. "Yes hello? There is a woman using aggressive language towards me, my husband and my dogs... I believe she may be intoxicated or on drugs... " there you go saved you the phone call they are on their way. Why cant people just ask "Arent those collars illegal?" or just ask "doesnt that hurt them?" give you a chance to explain / educate before going crazy off the handle and wrecking everyone's park experience...

Never ever ever say "Dash hound" infront of a German person thats all i can say and never say "Sausage dog" Infront of a Dachshund person :D When I had my shop years ago, someone saw my two dachies and called them "dash hounds".... the little old German lady in the shop gave them such a lesson on grammar I dont think they ever would have said it wrong again. And I didn't have to say nothin!

People get convictions over Minor traffic offences why the hell should this cruel lifeless woman get off just because it might affect her job?? She might think about how putting another life out with the trash might affect her LIFE. And on top of that she should spend at least TWO DAYS in Jail so she can see what its like to be trapped somewhere she doesnt want to be.

I cant beleive with all the puppy farm, byb stuff going on that people still think its OKAY to promote purposely breeding DD. There's nothing wrong with a crossbreed, remember once upon a time when a crossbreed was something that happened by accident and it was a case of "Oh here give your kids a free puppy... its just a sweet mongerel" Course said mongerel now gets a kibbled up stupid frikking name and a four figure price tag and voila! its a breed! I wholly agree - WHAT IS WRONG WITH A POODLE!?!? Seriously??? What??? - All these cross breeds STILL need hair cuts, STILL Shed, STILL have dander and allergens... and are STILL DOGS!! At least when you get a poodle you know EXACTLY what your getting, Some of these Oodles I groom have the most god awful coats, teeth, legs, etc. Hybrid Vigour? BAH. Dogs... ALL Dogs - Canis Lupis Familiaris. Since ALL purebreed dogs where created by Multigeneration crossings, I see NO problem with introducing other breeds into lines to make improvements, then breeding back to type.... How the heck does one think the breeds came about in the FIRST place??? I don't see a pack of wild Poodles or Boxers or any other "pedigree" recognised breed living anywhere in the world, that have been there since the dawn of mans tweaking nature for his own means. Guess that means I own a German Pinscher, Beauceron, Rottweiler, Greyhound, Great Dane, Weimaraner, GSP, Manchester Terrier and Old GSD Mix hmm Gepinbaurotgraner Pointing Shepherd Terrier? Guess Dobermann was easier to pronounce. The Ideal family dog, Is any dog that fits the crazy mould your family fits - no matter the breed.

Why did he have to "die" for 200 people to suddenly want to give him a home?
-
http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/99740-dobermann-thread/ All the Dobermann'ness you can handle. I myself think Dobe's make good farm dogs, but only based on my own Dobe who doesn't have any interest in chasing livestock or other little animals. Not sure how he would react to a horse though.. probably hide from it knowing Brutus. Whatever breed you choose, how they handle situations will of course largely depend on training and upbringing... of course I'm biased so I say go with a dobe. But you do need to keep ontop of their intelligence. they will start sussing you out for "loopholes" very quickly lol.
