Whats The Worst Your Dog Has Done To Hurt You
Maxiewolf replied to Primedogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh yes... had a few of those injuries... they are the worst. And I cant belive I forgot about this one.... this would be the worst! - We had a guy come round to mow our acre of jungle and he was affraid of Brutus, so I put him (Dog not the guy...) on the steel cable while our lawn was being mowed... This was a really long cable and almost 1/3" thick plastic coated wire.... that I was unaware of standing in the loop of... when Brutus spotted one of his toys in the long grass and took off to get it.. RIGHT NOW. 1/3" thick cable 'rope burn' around my bare ankle. I ended up with this wide 'gash' all the way around my ankle... OMG it STUNG.. and bled and argh... took weeks to go away... I did have pics of it.. Ill see if i can find em. I cant belive I forgot that injury! -
Whats The Worst Your Dog Has Done To Hurt You

Several Holes and Blood on the hand from an outta control pommerainian (sp) that was either... grab him or watch him get squished by a car... he showed his grattitude by chomping on my hand. Split lip from an unexpected Dachshund leap from a garden retaining wall, (wall started out at ground level.... dog climbs up... walks along.. *sees mum* MUM CATCH!! *CLANG* ... blood... yes i did catch him eventually... ) ... this dachshund thought it was a bloody mountain goat... he would climb on everything, rocks, furnature, walls ANYTHING he could get a toehold on.. Fearless Idiot. Sprained ankle from a Shetland Sheepdog Zoomie..... classic case of.. move.. or stand still.... i moved... he moved... I fell into a gutter. He Continued his Zoomie. Plenty of Doberman impacts, bitten tounges from headbutts, bruises etc. Since Brutus is unaware of anything else besides the tip of his nose when he runs. Though I must admit I missed Dad's full... legs removed from underneath him, defy gravity for a second then fall impact... i tried not to laugh at him describing it... i failed. -
Pet Incineration Plant Proposed For Telarah
Maxiewolf replied to spoilt lab lives here's topic in In The News
No one would even know it was there unless someone told them. If they used words with mer decorum such as "Crematorium" (sp?) No one would care or say a thing but when you use big "oh ah" nasty words like "Incinerator" people freak. Its a nessisary service, we dont see these same services for people stuck out in the middle of nowhere. More often than not they are right in the middle of a town. no one says anything about any 'smoke' or 'smell' because there isnt any. -
Very sad situation all Round. I see from the neighbours point of view a little.. and I woudlnt take their rant with too much to heart cos Im sure that Id react the same way and alot of people would. But.. they where warned.. and they did nothing about it im affraid. Your dog was not out, your dog did not pick up their cat roaming around outside its yard... their cat... was uncontained, and on your property. And a Small furry animal is VERY different to a child.. but of course this is the same argument that everyone brings up in this situation. I know that Brutus is virtually harmless to children, I watch the neighbours girl feed him bacon rinds (under supervision from both sides of the fence of course) and he licks them out of her hand like she where made of glass.... but... If a cat or any other thing came in the yard with no one around to tell him to drop what he was doing.. Brutus would merely see it as a stuffed toy which is to be shaken and have its stuffing ripped out as soon as possible... as stuffed toys are the greatest things ever invented (course i dont think so when i gotta pick up all this stuffing). And there would be nothing "vicious" about it. He has seen cats before... and when he was a puppy im sure he thought they where strange dogs that hissed at him... infact this hurts his feelings. Hah. But I know if some random cat/animal jumped in the back yard he would probly kill it.. and not intentionally... but when a small animal meets 40kilos of playfull Doberman... and your silly enough not to contain your cat...animal.. etc... that is what happens. ( Should we ban stuffed dog toys? I think we should.. i mean we are obviously encouraging this killer dog behaviour). If my cat got out of the house, and went into someones yard and got killed... there would be noone to blame except us for not keeping her in. If she was killed by a loose dog then two parties are at fault, me and the owner of the loose dog. I really hope that it doesnt escalate into something very nasty.. you dont need that kind of stress! Definatly talk to the ranger, stop any of this "Dangerous Dog" accusations dead in their tracks before it gets out of hand for you and your neighbours. Good Luck with it all! RiP Poor Kitty

Dogs in general seem to be pretty in tune to your movements.... so as sound asleep as they might seem when you move even the slightest... they seem to get it. I think it would come from the 'dogpile' that is puppy hood hehe. Never 'squished' my mini dachshunds and I am not a still sleeper.

Do Relatively Unprotective Dogs 'step Up' If Necessary?
Maxiewolf replied to Pete.the.dog's topic in General Dog Discussion
...Im sure Brutus would step up to the 'plate' should a cat attempt to break into the house... *rolls eyes* I had to buy the loveable fool a huge studded staffy collar for walks just to give *me* a bit of confidence. Though One hopes.. that deep down somewhere in that crazy doberman brain of his ... lurks that 'gaurding" instinct that I hope will never be needed. Cos all he has going for him right now are "looks". Though he has been known to plant the paws and stand still when strange people walk by. Once they are gone we may resume walking.... hmmm -
So glad you could actually get a snake man to come take it away.... no such luck for me when we had a python in the house, had to get it myself... put it ina box and take it for a drive to the national park... tell you its freaky driving around with a snake in a box... in your car..... course... id take a snake ANY DAY over a spider.

What Shampoo Will Make My Dog Smell Delicious?
Maxiewolf replied to Sally's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
;) Im glad im not the only one whos resorted to the dog shampoo when the human shampoo has all but evaporated!! My favorite is Nature's Specialties - "Plum Silky" its Soap and Chemical free.. and does semeel "delicious" (eating your dog is strongly not advised) You may have to get it overseas no one distributing it here any more. And its a 28:1 concentrate. Its FANTASTIC stuff IMO. -

This May be worth a mention - When Using Spot Ons, Use a SOAP FREE Shampoo on your dog between treatments. Soap in shampoos Removes oils from the dogs coat, as Many Spot ons work with the oils on a dogs coat, Washign with Soap Dramaticly Reduces if not Ceases the Usefulness of the Spot on. This is well worth knowing if you rely on something like Advantix to protect your dog from Paralisis Ticks. -
oh gosh i feel your pain! we where fostering a Curley coat x GSD till we found him a big farmy home.. the little buggar... he dug his way under the house and tate the phone cords right through, Course i didnt know this at the time When i rang the ophone company to come fix the phone cos it asuddenly stopped working. Well in the time the guy had come to fix the phone, and when i got home... he had chewed it again! so of course i didnt even know what was wrong with the phone till i blasted the phone company for not fixing it.. Cost me two lots of $180 for a telstra call out before we figured out what was happening to the phone line. Course then i took up watching the pup ever spare second with a water pistol.

Bonzai The Rat Had To Be Put To Sleep Today...
Maxiewolf replied to snarferama's topic in Rainbow Bridge
Why Rats Are Only With Us a Short While One day, some angels went to God and asked if they might spend some time on Earth, to learn and perhaps to teach. He answered that some of the people might be frightened of the angels, that His children's idea of beauty might not be His own. The angels replied that maybe those who could look past the differences deserved the blessings that they could give. But God was still concerned. The angels needed Heaven's air to breathe; they would suffocate down on Earth. The angels promised to hold their breath as long as possible, and would return when they could not hold it anymore. God agreed and sent down the angels. Many people were frightened of these creatures, despised them, and tried to kill them in large numbers. However, the few who recognized the angelic qualities in the beings took them in and sheltered and fed them. In return, they received more joy and laughter then they could possibly imagine. But alas, soon the angels could hold their breath no longer. After just a short Earth time, they left to go back to Heaven. But they were sure to tell the next group of angels exactly who to seek out when they went down. ~Author Unknown~ -
