  1. Yes, Ingrid's shots of Po are lovely. And the "Schutzhund" Daxie you saw would have been Dee Dee Murry's little girl Hallie. I think Hallie's shots are taken off the website now, but here is a red cattle dog doing weight-pull. Not a pretty look but a good image. If you up-arrow from the Pit Bull - Weightpull page here there are quite a few pages of Dee Dee's schutzhund shots incl Mals and Dutch Shepherds. http://www.murryphotography.com/events/iwp...ch_06/index.htm
  2. http://www.pbase.com/mplonsky/protection Although I don't much like schutzhund m'self, have to admit there are some great USA images (various breeds) by a GSD owner on this site.
  3. Agreed Leopuppy. Whilst not an OP (Obedience Person) I was the other kind of OP with the cameras yesterday. I try not to post on our website if a dog is showing itself or handler in a bad light, and even in that ten minutes or so yesterday morning most of the shots I got showed dogs not moving freely, hanging back and showing their less-than-total enthusiasm in the body language. What a shame though, with that lovely table of trophies and sashes as well as the sponsor's products. Those smart large canisters are unavailable now, would have been a nice win. The rules were followed. It was not the decision of "Croydon" or the organisers. And Staffy13, whilst there could be a better mouse-trap, it's a bit tough asking one person, the VCA Rep, to take responsibiity for a decision that obviously will not suit everyone. But the rules state that if the temperature is as it was, it is the duty of the Judges to instruct the Organisers to stop, which is how it was done. A consensus of Judges. I think that's still a little better than loading the decision onto one person. Disappointing for all of us, just hope it doesn't happen again with any of the comps in the New Year.
  4. They still enjoyed their day. There are some shots of Beagles and Other Hounds on the website now - and a couple of ring-ins!! Now where did they come from??
  5. Yes we'll be going (received Darren and Trish's kind welcome) just to take photos. Looking forward to seeing the sighthounds in their element again.
  6. It's difficult isn't it. Our vets are quite against flyball and lure coursing both, they say they see a lot of dogs with bone/joint damage from box-slamming in flyball: and with tendon/ligament/joint damage from the lure coursing fast turns not to mention falls. Our dogs do both for now, but I guess it's something you have to accept for some dogs it could turn a small problem into a nasty one. All the buzz on lure coursing is on the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club's website: http://members.optusnet.com.au/ashtar1/ It lists the upcoming events, and there is a link there to ask them to put your email address onto their circular-advice when open days are being held. Come to Croydon - we have coffee and sausage sizzles!!
  7. Peri, there should in a few minutes be some extras loaded into the "Rejected" gallery - and there are more Canberra team dogs on the main gallery than you listed, if you go further down the thumbnails there is another race or two included, I'm sure some more of your pups are in there with them. Could you let the others know maybe, as we're not leaving them there for long.
  8. Thanks that's great, I'll find and move the others tomorrow, bit too late t'nite.
  9. Okay two questions that'll help - what are the D numbers of the ones you found - and - do any of your team dogs wear partly yellow harnesses, yellow surcingle with white shoulder straps, if that's them it will help me locate the others, there should be a few more than I thought. And is the JRT the one with the green harness?
  10. Hi, here's the link to the Wodonga page - it does not look like any Canberra dogs there. There's also a separate gallery of Wodonga Rejected - it is just shots that might not be suitable to print from but people wanted a quick look at them. Will add the shots that we have of Canberra teams tomorrow (they all have speed-fiend blur). If anyone can be bothered, there is a 'comments' area for each photo, where owners can put their dog's name (and/or their own, or the team). That helps us know which dog you are referring to as well as giving the D-number. http://www.sherbrookephotography.smugmug.com/gallery/1747755
  11. Hi Periau, probably nothing okay if they not on our website by now. Let's know colour of your uniform, describe the dogs in the team and I'll look at them again after work tonight. If we have any they will only be good for small prints, not sharp enough for larger prints (unless you call it an artistic motion blur for a speed effect: not the intention though). Anyway let's know which dogs and I'll get back to you tonight.
  12. So did we all, and your coffees and lunches were life-savers. Wish I'd got a photo of your group, didn't get out the door with a camera. Here are some of the Albury group indoors again, this was a bit out of place in the lure-coursing thread (just relevant to the photos chat there). Frodo was on his best behaviour for once and finally made his FDCh on the day. Thanks again for the good event, we'll be back next year.
  13. Darren thanks for the heads-up on Sale, good to know of the opportunity. And yes evenings would be lovely at KCC - I've missed the last two runs, and the later start would be great for us.
  14. It would have to be an AFA registered person, otherwise not allowed in the Ring (I think). Croydon Rockets have two teams going, so you'd probably find one of us can help out on the day. Bribery (?) coffee and a donut: or even get someone to ball-shag for your team to free up your ball-shagger more to hold a dog, that might work better(?). Something will work out, it's great that you have a team going. Have you entered for Tara Valley and Geelong?
  15. We'll miss out again - bummer. Same day as the Albury-Wodonga Flyball Competition. Can't do everything: hope we all have good weather.
  16. Great, thanks Darren. We'll plan to be there again with our three - hope they'll still remember how to turn corners after their straight run with the Deerhounds.
  17. Not really, it was bucketing rain here too, we thought we might be the only ones going. Not rubbing salt, here is one for a memory-jogger. There are a couple of shots from today in Photos topics. Linda, we're loading some from today on the smugmug site now but won't finish it off til tomorrow night probably.
  18. Hi Linda, not not just my guys, everyone there. Paul will have a camera on a tripod, will probably wear a red cap. I'll have the other camera between giving our dogs a run - a small Rottweiler cross, a black Poodle cross and a ginger Pom cross. Come say hi, we'll do our best to get the shot you'd like. Buy a raffle ticket too, you might win a shot of your dog.
  19. Try to make it, sounds like a good day. We will take one or three dogs for their first straight-line run, I'm sure they already know something special is on. Also we'll be taking photos, should get one of all of the dogs running.
  20. Pointers, seeing you are off to Brisbane, worth looking at the Fidos webpage - www.fidos.com - My hydro is Fidos and has "twin-tub", auto-fill, heater. Used it for dog-wash busines but now only use it for my own dogs. They also make the Fidos shampoos, and their hydrobath comes with a good supply of the full range. We also put a flexi-shower above it, with hot/cold water mixer, so can give an extra final rinse if useful, depending on conditioner used: it's also handy for a first wash-off if a dog is really muddy, or to be able to fill the tanks with warm water if you don't have time to wait for the heater. Not necessary, but a nice additional luxury/time-saver now and then. (You get a colour choice too for a few dollars more: I went for the black and red as a change from blue-green algae colours, to brighten up the salon). Dru that is a really great tip on channelling waste water to good use: I wouldn't put water to the ground that has anything like a flea-control in it because it poisons worms/grubs which can then kill birds. But it will be very easy to put a switch-tap in the outfall pipe so that it spills "mostly" to the garden, and just switch to waste-pipes when bad chemicals (like spa cleaner etc) would be in the pipes.
  21. Totally agree - my vets are very anti-flyball, they say it is okay "for fun" but should not be a competetive activity, as handlers then ask too much too often. The same vet is anti lure coursing, treats the "results" - unless it is straight-line like the Jack Russell lure racing. And on the subject of "frisbee" as a dog sport is livid and unforgiving. I'm just bringing Frodo back after a good spell away from racing on hard ground: we'll miss Ballarat but he'll be at Geelong.
  22. If in Dandenong Ranges area, Croydon Rockets could be your closest. Flyball beginners classes are at Croydon, Sunday mornings at Silcock Park. Then continuing training to join a team, and for team dogs, is Saturday mornings at Lilydale (or Wednesday evenings at Lilydale during daylight-saving). Rockets website is www.flyball.com/rockets -
  23. No agility, only flyball. Definitely Staffies. Cooper and Rowdy, at Croydon Rockets training
  24. There is a new (yet another) animal/pet show starting on TV tomorrow. Forget name of new show, it is on tomorrow (Saturday 1 April) 4.30pm, Channel 9. A feature segment was filmed at the Wonthaggi Show Flyball competition. Main reason for the segment is to show the relationship between Assistance Dogs and owners, and of course Wendy is a top flyball competitor with her great assistance dog. Don't know how much of the day's racing will be on the segment, but it should explain what flyball is about and show one of the top team competitors of the Croydon Rockets in action with some training component there I believe. Good viewing for anyone interested in flyball (or assistance dogs).
  25. Looks great, I misunderstood flygility, I thought they had to do an agility course then a flyball run separately. (Bit like a triatholon with separate swim-ride-run sections). This makes much more sense now. Is anyone in Australia doing it?? Is the course much longer - it looks like double length between obstacles, not single-stride. And looks like something dogs would love, especially the agility dogs that are obsessed with tunnels but don't enjoy the higher obstacles like walks and see-saw. Thanks that's a good link and congrats to you and Raven - she looks very keen and reliable. Do you have any video (or stills) of other dogs running?
