I fly pups & dogs out from Lismore NSW. They do go in the luggage compartment at the back of the plane. Luckily you can watch them loaded, as small planes only fly out from Lismore, so if they were loaded roughly or cruelly everyone sitting in the airport lounge would see. Also you must stay until the plane is loaded because if there is too much luggage the dogs are loaded last, so if it is full, they can't fly!!! Not sure what happens with dogs/pups on larger planes. I imagine they go in the luggage area as well!

It could be she has mixed you up with another puppy buyer, or like others have said, simply added the wrong picture. Definitely give her a call.

I am glad I didn't read this thread a little earlier, as I would have been very worried!! I flew 2 puppies on Wednesday, one from Lismore NSW to Tasmania and the other to Sydney. When the puppy owners picked up the one in Sydney they said he seemed a bit hot and was very glad to be out of the crate, so I was really worried then about the guy going to Tasmania as he had a stop over of 1 hour 15 minutes in Sydney and then another 2 hour flight after that! However the new owners rang as soon as they picked him up and he was perfectly fine, they said he didn't seem hot or stressed at all and hadn't stopped wagging his tail, so all was well. It is a worry though especially in this heat. I have never sent pups at this time of the year before. Also where live I don't get much choice in flights or times of flights! I feel so sorry for the puppy, breeder and new owners of the little pup that passed away from heat stress after his flight. So sad!

I put them all in my name when they are chipped and then get the new owners to fill out the CA3 (Change of Ownership) form when they pick up pup, then I take it into my local council. I also keep a copy for myself. For puppies that are being transported to their new owners. I send the form in the puppy pack along with an addressed, stamped envelope and instructions to fill in their bit on the form and send it back to me. All have so far.

I include a CD as well.... Although most of the really good photos of the puppies that I took, I have previously emailed through the new owners anyway. They often say they have a photo of their new puppy on their fridge or on their desk at work, or as their desktop image on their computer, so they can look at him/her until they arrive.

same as above Me as well! Willow - I want puppy buyers to tell me what they are looking for in a pup, as far as temperament, colour, sex etc. I want the new owner to be happy with the pup they get, so I do my best to match up pups with new owners as much as possible. With the litter I have here now, one buyer didn't care what sex or colour (labs), but specifically wanted a pup who was a bit more 'laid back' & placid. I knew in this mating I potentially could get pups like this as it is a repeat mating and a few of the pups from the last litter were very placid, and really easy to train and live with. I have one here (not so great for the showring, but a joy to live with.) So I have been watching the pups to pick which is the most placid, and one little boy just stands out! I only breed when I know I want to keep something, so am looking for my pick and then after that I match them up to new owners depending on their requests. If there are 2 or 3 so similar, like others have said I let the first on the list pick which one they would like, but would advise them if I thought they were not making the best choice for their requirements.

That is just gorgeous! It sure makes things easier doesn't it? Does the other one toilet the pups as well? With a litter I had a while ago, the mum didn't take to mothering all that well to begin with, so the pups grandmother jumped in the box and let them suckle and began to make milk immediately. She toileted them and gave the affection the mum wasn't doing for the first few days. On about the 5th day though, the mum 'came good', and decided she liked her babies after all, so Grandma was relieved of her motherly duties and went back to being a grandmother again. The photo is amazing!

I am just getting my puppy packs ready now...pups are 6 weeks. I give a folder with: Registration certificate Microchip details & Change of ownership form (with self addressed stamped envelope for them to send it back to me) Details of mum & dad + paperwork required (copy of their hip/elbow scores & tests etc & a copy of their pedigree certificate.) Vaccination certificate Heaps of info on feeding/worming/flea & heartworm prevention, with when they all need to be done. Some info about settling in! Training tips Info on the breed & general care of the dog. As well as a bag of food, a bowl, a collar & lead for a little pup, a blanket, a soft toy and a chew toy. A CD with all the photos I have taken of the litter since birth. I think that's all.

Quote "As all puppies are active it's difficult to get them to rest and not jump. We did our research on breeders and purchased her from a highly respected and sought after breeder. I would be very concerned if she develops joint problems as a result. Hip and elbow scores of parents were excellent." I would be looking at confining her much more than just the back yard. A crate is the ideal thing to confine a young dog in. If not a much smaller area, such as the laundry or bathroom, and the only exercise for minimum of a few days would be best. The pads will take a while to heal, as for the sore elbow, rest and see if it improves, maybe it is just a strain, if it continues you will need to investigate further. Also you should be aware, that even though you bought the puppy through a respected breeder and even though hip/elbow scores of parents were good, joint problems can just occur. Sometimes it just happens, you can minimise he problems by controlling the amount of exercise you puppy has while growing and also keeping your puppy on the lean side, rather than overweight. Good luck.

Congratulations on your big litter, good sized pups as well! Hope all goes well from here on.

I can't help you Trisven13, I have a litter of labs here who are 4 weeks old and I have just spent the first night back in my own bed! I don't sleep beside them because I need to, but because I want to for my own peace of mind and also because I don't like to miss out on anything. I find the mum ( who is doing a great job) seems more at ease when I am close. I haven't had to intervene at all, but am just there to make sure all goes well. I am sure if I wasn't there the mum would be fine, she is very, very careful, I don't think she would ever squash a pup. I invest a lot of my energy and time into these pups and they are very friendly, social little things now at 4 weeks, because I have handled them a lot from birth. I only breed a litter, although this year 2 litters a year, so spending the 8 weeks with these babies is a joy.

I plan to just enjoy showing. I had a break as I didn't have anything to show for a while and went through a pretty tough time with some of my dogs. Hopefully coming out the other side of it all now. I have a 6 month girl to show, she has had a few shows in baby, so plan to take her on and hopefully gain some points for her. Also have a 4 week old litter so have a few to choose from possibly will keep 2 girls a black & yellow to run on with. I am starting afresh with my own homebred girls so quite excited. Also may have a new addition from an outside kennel in the future! My main objective this year is to have fun in the ring with my dogs. Be sportsmanlike, polite & genuine, which is what I like others to be, and hopefully have some success with some points, fringies, etc.

Good luck with your litter. I hope you have an uncomplicated whelping. My little lab bubs are almost 4 weeks now. Keep us posted.

So sorry to hear about your little girl MM. 313g is tiny for a lab puppy. One of mine in this litter was 350gm, which is the smallest I have ever had, he is doing well though and has almost caught up to the others of almost 2kgs at 3 weeks tomorrow. Hope the rest of the litter are doing really well, and you can get some rest and recover from such an emotional & exhausting 3 weeks.

You sure have had a tough time of it! Does the little girl drink from mum at all? Hope all continues to improve and the little one starts feeding normally. Mine must be a similar age to yours, they are now all up on their legs and starting to play and respond! It is a very cute age! Good luck! Very cute pic of the puppy...looks just like mine

This is fantastic! So very true, could relate to it.

So sorry Yarrowfell, hope the little girl is doing well.

Well from a breeders perspective. I just received the lovliest email from someone I rehomed an adult dog to. Just to let me know how much they love her and how well she has adapted into their family and how if I ever wanted her back there is no way I could have her because they love her so much. Also they added a few photos, she looks healthy & happy. I don't know about others, but it makes all the sleepless nights looking after mum & puppies after birth and all the heartache when things do occasionally not turn out like we would like them to, worthwhile. A simple email & photos if possible is all it takes to put me at ease and make me see finding good homes for my babies is worth it!
