It's great, loads of good idea's to get around disguising the collar. Think I'll try the bandana (although that may just want to make people approach), and that's not really the aim of it......hmmm.......something inconspicuous (sp) sock sounds better and better Erny, but I also want groovy faux fur :-) When you've mastered the design Kelpie can I see it........then I can I buy one :p sigh sometimes I wish sewing interested me :D I think Erny and Kelpie were able to describe best how the sock would work. It was just an idea I had, but without any artistic flair however they both seem to be able to add on and improve the idea, so I'm not even going to try and be clever :p it's easier for them to run with it and explain it way better than I ever could ;) Prong collars can cost $50 to $120 depending on the brand (then postage approx $15). Hope that's of some help

Now I'll really need a picture of the finished cover Kelpie :D Ribbing?? Remember I'm no seamstress I was thinking material to cover top of collar, with sort of flaps just hanging down of that (but still the same piece of material) that would hide the prongs, but in no way cover the prongs. The prongs still make contact with the dogs neck ;) Can you design something like that??

Ahhhhh very clever Erny ;) and they make some pretty funky looking socks these days too :D Now that sort of thing I could probably manage.

Yes that's the stuff Kelpie, I had actually typed in faux (then thought nah that's not how you spell it), so went with the long winded description of fake animal print Let me know how you go with making one and how it turns out ;)

If your dog is a long haired breed it probably would not be noticable. I however have a Dobe, so it will stick out like....well um....dogs balls I've ordered one (it's not here yet). My daughter said she wouldn't come out walking with me if I was going to use it, not because she thinks it's cruel, she just thinks people will be ignorant and possibly abusive, so I came up with the idea of the bandana or a cover for the collar. Heck I can't sew, I'm hopeless, but I figured how hard could it be to make a cover for it Some iron on velcro (easy), and if I wanted to be really neat and tidy, I could just do a simple stitch around the fabric ;) However..........maybe Kelpie would like to do a test one for me, fancy a trip to Tassi

Nic you can purchase a prong collar from (user name) K-9 force Steve will help in assisting you on how to measure your dog so you can get the correct fitting collar. Link to web site for you http://www.k9force.net/tcollars.html I'm unsure if they are legal in WA (Steve should be able to advise you on that also). I know about 10 years ago a friend brought one back with her from the US, and customs took it off her at the airport as it was illegal. Ways to get around it, not that I'm suggesting for a moment you should break the law put a bandana around the dog's neck (over the collar), or make a cover for it with material and velcro, perhaps out of funky material, whatever your into, like fake fur animal print Failing that you could also move states (probably a bit extreme) ;)
