I use to use dried liver. Then polony and now I'm using schmakos. Only for the reasons the dogs love it and its easy to feed & carry.

Hey guys. I didn't go last night. And i wont be there next week Jacquel, what trainer did you have? Carly? Mitzy, search Perth Training and obedience club on google..

Spencer is allergic to dry-food. We've had him on rice mixed with veges & meat for the past week and he's doing MUCH better on it. Maddy has been getting the pedigree natural food. She's doing ok on it.

Brittany Spaniels The Potential
sandyl replied to baileykira's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Wow!! Congrats! That's awesome. If I were you I'd do most activities if i had the time. Atm I've only got time to do agility and obedience with two seperate dogs. I can start showing if i want but i realy dont know where i can fit that in. Kira sounds great. Do you have any pictures of her? Maybe weaving or so? Thanks You've got a v-e-r-y promising girl there. Most of all, have fun!! Sandra -
Pink Panther! They're adorable. I love the first one. Is that you?

What you could try while the dogs still learning the obsticale, maybe hold his collar lightly. I did this with Spencer when he was still learning it. Now he zooms up and over.

Spencer's been coughing the last week as well. It sounds like he has something stuck in his throat. When he barks or runs around, it gets worse. Maddy doesn't seem to have it though. She's coughed once or twice but thats it. If its contageous(sp?) then shouldn't she have it as well? Maybe its not kennel cough. But Spencer had it when he came back from the vets to get sterilied last year. ? Sandra

There's a few people that go there from DOL, Mitzy. There's Boxagirl and me. A few others go but i cant remember them from the tp of my head. Remember Mitzy, there's also the one in Carine. Ask Chelseas mum about that one. (She posted a bit further up..)

Meriment you betta be starting next term The training at Victoria Park starts at 7:15 on Wednesday nights. At the moment we're having a break for the school holiday break. We start again in the first week of term 2 which is the 3rd of May i think? It's at Raphael Park in Vic Park. The Perth Training & Obedience club also has agilty training at Ashfield Reserve of Friday nights. It starts at 6:30. It's with the same club as the obedience but at a different place. I think theres also agility training in Vic Park. Not sure. In Vic Park, it's $40 i'm pretty sure for a year then $2 for a lesson. (Lights, instructors) Last term we progressed through exercises at our own pace. We could ask all sorts of questions to the instructor. Then at the end of the term we had graduation. Maddy passed so now we're onto the next level. If you have any additional questions you can stay after and ask the instructor. I'm not sure about the Midland club as i've never been there. To get to the Swan Valley from here it takes us about 30 minutes. (Go to school out there..) To get to Vic Park it takes us 15-20 mins. Perth Training & Obedience Website seems down as Mitzy said. But on it is basically what I've said (dates, times). It's up to you..

Casually Walking Your Dog
sandyl replied to Purple Julie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Maddy is expected to stay on our left side, but she often zig-zags in-front of me. Spencer is off lead most of the time. Usually all we do is walk to the park and back. (2 minutes walk) At training Maddy heels where ever i go (Besides exercises ect) during the lesson. After and before she mingles and sniffs around. -
Yeah, GSD= German Shepherd dog. We live around the corner from Dianella. It takes us about 15 minutes to get to Obedience. We take the Great Eastern Hwy from Belmont, stay on it till you can go left onto shepherton or right to canning hwy. We go right, then at glouster we go left. Then there it is. Do you want a proper corse for your pup or just the basics like sit and drop? I found the RSPCA training is a bit basic.. Btw, the pics of Bobby are adorable (Sorry, cant be bothered spelling right.)
-
Wow.. Your 5 minutes away from me.. Anywaaay.. I havnt heard of PUPI. Think ive seen it in the phone book acually. Anyway, if you go to the Vic Park obedience club, its $2 a lesson plus registration which is $40 im pretty sure. Would love to see some pictures of your pup! Sandra

What part of WA are you in? If your in Perth, I recommend the Perth Training & Obedience club. They train on Wednesday nights at Raphael park in Victoria Park. They start at 7:15. Next week's graduation but we start again next term. I did the RSPCA obedience class level 1 with my German Shepherd. I didn't quite like it. Found it more of a socializing experience then training. But we did do things like sit, drop, stay, heel ect. Sandra

I know what you mean. Sometimes rescue might have a agility prospect pup. Maybe ask your questions in the rescue forum. Im sure they'll all give you lots of help there Sandra

Thanks mersonmalinois. I'll have a look. I'm planning on making a whole set of equipment If you want a copy Marica, just pm me your email address. I'll try and put together a paper on how we did it. Bloss, tell you OH that all you'll need him for is to cut the PVC. You can do the rest. I got my dad to cut the 'T's for me and the piping. I put it all together. Thanks Staff n toller. I'll have a look. I just got a job so thats something to look at Yep Boxa, I'll be there. Been training all week. But last week we had a different instructor and she taught us a lot of different things to what we usually do?!? We were all a lil confused. All well.. Burlof- What state are you in? Congrats on your new dog when you get one! For agility, its best to wait till the dog is atleast 12 months, if not more for the pups bones to fully grow. Once they're fully grown, you can get into it. While your waiting for the dog to mature get out there and do some obedience. It's great for agility, especially recall and stay. And to have the dog focused on you not everything else. You can always get a rescue dog which you can start off with. Thanks guys Sandra

Thanks SD Marica- We planned them ourselves. And were quite easy to make. Each jump cost us about $25 - $30. Including the spare bar. We could of made it cheaper but being me i wanted to spiff it up a little I'm writing down how we did it soon for someone else so ill send you a copy if you like It took us about 2 hours to plan and make them..

What Type Of Food Reward Do You Use?
sandyl replied to Embellish's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I usually use frankforts. But they're quite expensive. I've found the dogs would do anything for pancakes!?! So ive been using them.. -
Thanks Rastus. Might try that. Do you have a pic of what exactly you mean? I'm pretty sure I know what it is.

Yesterday we made two agility jumps. Worked out quite well. The sides are PVC pipe that I can pull apart and change the lengths ect depending on the dog jumping and exercise. Spencer's loving it so far and i'm sure Maddy will too when she's old enough to test them out. It's all made of PVC piping, with electrical, coloured tape to colour the bars. We also made some weavers. We got 3 broom handles and put them in the ground. It's working for now as the dogs still don't get the concept of weaving. So it's safe for them. Going to start saving for a tunnel next. Sandra

We Started Agility Last Night
sandyl replied to Tawnydal's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Thats awesome GM Spencers slowly getting use to the environment. He's focusing on me much more now instead of the other dogs.
