  1. I use the Melrose Flaxseed oil from the Health store. I keep it in the fridge, even the largest bottle dosnt usually last long enough for it to go off.
  2. Have never bought the Pet mince before, if Im feeding chicken I also prefer to give carcasses, necks or wings. I do give them human grade beef, lamb and pork mince though in the BARF mix. As for a bad batch, it may well be, it can happen in the supermarket meat aswell. A number of years ago I bought some beef mince for my cat and he turned his nose up at it. On a closer look, the mince was moving so I couldnt blame him really!! Supposedly freshly packed that day Hmmm, makes you wonder how much of it ended up on dinner tables that night! No word of a lie I have only started eating mince again myself this past year it put me off that much!
  3. I dont know anything about making coats darker but you can really use just about any pulped vegetables in a BARF mix (except onions). No wastage in our house anymore! Obviously the outer dark green leaves are best on green vegies and all the brightly coloured ones!! Basically the same as for us!
  4. I try not to buy too much at pet shops (or vets for that matter) most things are way way overpriced. I often buy online (like worming or fleas stuff) or at the shows for show gear. Today I just bought two dog leads and matching collars online. For most treats I get fresh meaty bones from our butcher or make them myself. The only treats I buy at pet suppliers are pigs ears. However recently after surfing the net for a reasonably priced xtra xtra large raised dog bed I am resorting to buying one from a local pet supplier as it is surprisingly cheaper and we did recently buy an 18 kg bag of dried food as it was $30 off the usual price. So really it depends on what we need and who has the best deal!! Certainly pays to shop around.
