  1. I think a dog's name should be only it's offical name and it's official titles as per the pedigree and titles won. Brags are brags they are not a recognized title. Each to their own.
  2. Slightly off topic - I am looking at getting a couple of suits made. Does anyone know of any good sites to look for patterns/designs?
  3. I caught this picture of Beagle puppy zoomies - very cute too
  4. If you go to www.showmanager.com.au you can sign up and use their service for free if it's only one dog. Some people find it confusing but I love it. Once signed up go the Community Area and find the event you are entering, or you can create it if it's not there (rarely is it not there and I live in a small place) and add it your events. Go back to your main page and add your membership details, then your dogs details (you only have to do this the first time) and then you can click on the event you have added and add your baby as an entry. This will print with the fees as you have put them in etc so once all set up it's only a matter of adding the event to your list and adding the entry. If you need any help feel free to ask :)
  5. Hey there all, Annual thread time. So who is coming? Thinking of coming? PM if it's a secret you're coming Remember to like the Facebook page for up to date details once the judge is confirmed. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Darwin-Royal-Dog-Section/189063314492056?sk=wall
  6. That's exactly what I meant Tris! If I was down there Slater would show her ass off because she is used to the Darwin heat now. I show in anything lol
  7. Before tarnishing everyone with the same brush, perhaps consider that not all dogs feel heat the same way. I live in a very hot, humid and tropical climate and have everything I need at home and for shows if necessary. That said there are always some that aren't prepared, that are only there for points or whatever but it's the well prepared and organised ones that get tarnished when we throw around generic comments like some above.
  8. Wen you say re-install what program are you actually talking about?? Showmanager.com is very much all online and no download needed last I checked. I always add the shows I want if they aren't available yet on Showmanager but I usually find someone has beat me to it.
  9. I've decided to holiday earlier in Melbourne this year. Wishing all travellers and locals the best of luck
  10. Ahhh so it's possible that at this time in Vic that those rare "outstanding" dogs have been found. This can happen in many breeds, numerically the odds are better in the bigger breeds but the phenomenon on Victoria is exactly what the Grand Champion title is all about to me. You should have to beat the best, those outstanding specimens of their breed, before being able to call your dog a Grand Champion.
  11. you know they are going to come out of the woodwork, no matter what they look like , the good, the bad and the ugly. They'll get their CC and disappear again This is why Bonnie the Pug will not be out to get this. She is not in her trim, taut and terrific shape so she can stay on the couch with the other oldies!
  12. I'm a mainlander and I have the same amount of shows as you, there are many mainland places that have even less than you have. I see no point what so ever in even applying for the Grand Champion Title. I wish I could bring my old Pug (10 years 2 day ago) out and get one more CC so I could change her title to Supreme.
  13. I don't know what clubs to contact etc but I'm sure someone in the area can assist with this. Attending shows and volunteering in person is possible, or contacting the clubs before hand and offering. I can't see a club openly rejecting help unless they are overrun with volunteers. If they have a fair few volunteers ask if you can perhaps shadow someone to improve your skills and knowledge of what is involved? I highly recommend taking any steward courses on offer as well, these give a great deal of insight and help gain confidence in new skills. No one will yell and those that get involved in politics generally allow themselves to get involved. Stay above it.
  14. Firstly, it is not impossible in any breed to obtain the title of Grand Champion. Many rare breeds and those low in numbers prove this. I have had the privilege of being entrusted with a dog that obtained it's Grand Championship and am friends with others who have achieved the same. I contained to show my girl because she was a lovely example of her breed. She was not unbeatable as proven by those that did beat her but I saw no point in pulling a dog out for absolutely no reason. I compare this to saying, oh that Child Handler has already won one State Final why should she compete in another? Because she is eligible, capable and it's all within the rules. Why shouldn't I show my Grand Champion?

    Savlon

The part you quoted is significantly different to 1 tablespoon in a cup of water

    Savlon

In full this article goes on to say to rinse the salt water completely away and then use hydrogen peroxide on it. Hardly seems like a source that actually knows the benefits of cleaning with salt water
  17. The word "Grand" says it all to me. What is Grand about attending 167 shows and gaining 1,000 points. In a competitive world there should be more than that to strive for. The Supreme Champion, just seems to be the old, new, old well whatever... Grand Champion award that was the harder to obtain one.
  18. Awesome! The return of petrol Grand Champions....
  19. I reckon by 8pm Monday it may actually be sorted, it's a ballsy move but they've given everyone 48hours to sort it out
  20. Sheesh one of the biggest weekends in Melbourne in particular and no QANTAS flights.... EEK!
  21. Well that's disappointing to hear Megz, you mean someone told me a porker???? Considering the rationale around why it was changed in the first place my suspicions are that they oinked.....
  22. It wasn't in the ANKC Conference notes I read
  23. Thinking of coming down again for a holiday!! Schedule has been released. http://www.sydneyroyal.com.au/2012_Dog_Breed_Judging_Timetable_schedule.pdf
  24. Pav lova. I guess we should not be surprised at your comments, it makes me wonder what else you might have to do to assure yourself of a win.A very disapointing attitude towards participtating in our sport. assure myself of a win I train my dogs, put a lot of time and effort into them, socialise them well and have them focused on me, that's how I assure my dogs of doing well. Exhibitors will complain about anything when their dogs play up, from the side show rides, to the wood chop, generators, sheep and roo poo on the grass, mud, prickles, the heat, the cold, bitches in season, tents flapping in the wind, anything and everything they'll complain about and blame everything but their own training or lack there of. The judge was too rough, the judge had a hat on, the person behind ran up my butt, the person in front went to slow....
  25. Pav lova. I guess we should not be surprised at your comments, it makes me wonder what else you might have to do to assure yourself of a win.A very disapointing attitude towards participtating in our sport. My mother always taught me if I had nothing nice to say to keep my mouth (fingers) shut. You add nothing to the topic except to try to belittle someone giving an opinion. We rarely show a bitch in season but when you are entering between 10-12 per show, leaving one at home is a relief sometimes. We have bought a bitch in season to the Hound Club specialty before but she remained in the trailer except when it was her turn and was returned there after she was finished.
