I am looking at getting the Canon EF 50 mm f/1.4 USM lens. I found it on Ebay for $449 from an Australian seller, here is the link EBAY I just rang up my local camera shop, they have it for $650 but will do it for $599 for me, I told them about the ones on Ebay but he said that they wouldn't come with an Australian Warranty, I said that it says it does, but he said it wouldn't be a Canon warranty and if it had to be fixed it would have to be sent back overseas where it was imported from. He said also they could be "rebuilt" lenses. Has anyone else bought from Ebay? If so do you know what sort of warranty it has and weather or not it was a rebuild? I am thinking there has to be some sort of a catch if it is $150 cheaper.

Thanks so much for explaining that kja!! My camera allows you to shoot both in JPEG and RAW at the same time, maybe I should try that so I can see the difference in the image? I will do a search now and find some threads on it. Thanks heaps again!!

I have had my Canon 50D for about 5 weeks now. I have always shot in JPEG, I was reading about RAW, that it is best to shoot in RAW as you can manipulate the photos more, I haven't tried it yet but might take have a go at shooing in RAW on the weekend. Does anyone else shoot in RAW and is better than in JPEG?

Thanks Justice Shades, I think it was on Auto for that one, I will try that tomorrow, when I was out in the paddock with Elka, I was going to try out the continuous shoot thingy to, but forgot how to find it, found it when I got back to the house and looked at the instruction book LOL

I know what you mean I took a couple of snap shots inside last night, I just got home so too late again for me to have a play, but tomorrow I will be home at 4pm so will take some then!! I saw one in the Camera Shop today, it was about $160, (I went in to get a UV filter to protect the lense) would this be the lense you were talking about, it said good for portraits to I think.

Yes I have been slack in posting the Morsha team did well with my young boy Eski BOB both days and Tazma was Aust Bred in group on Sat and Eski went Best in Group on Sunday .Eski has now got all his needs now to get his Grand but still needs 400 points. Thats great Morsha

Congrats for your wins on Saturday, Tibbiemax. Were you there yesterday too? It did turn into a mud pit again ;) It poured but not constantly, just in bursts. Sorry kja, its the 50D that they told me doesn't have the live view, I was really tired when I posted last night Tess32, you have the 50D and it has live view, does the live view only work on Manual focus and not auto though??
