Had a great time at Grong Grong, really enjoyed the weekend. We got through no problems, I think the Caravan park was the one evacuated, the motel we stayed at was great, even allowed dogs inside in crates!!

Hi kja, I found the test stip thing and printed it out, have been at shows all weekend so haven't had a chance to try it yet, but will hopefully do it in the next couple of days, thanks heaps for your help
-
Thanks guys. Will do that now KJA, yes I realised that I should have set the focus point off the left, on the eye, or course I realize this after I got home from taking pics Will find the test strip now.

I took some pics of a friends Bull Terrier at a show today, this is how it came out, obviously the dog is not sharp but if you zoom in and go to the very bottom edge of the pics, the grass is very sharp, which is probably about 6 inches this side of the dog toward the camera. I had the middle focus point selected, the focus point is just in front of the flank on the dogs last few ribs. It was taken on a Canon 50 D, f/ 2, Shutter 1/4000 sec, AF mode was AI Servo. Have I done something wrong? I am finding this is happening a bit with this lens, don't get any probs with my 18 - 200 mm lense, I did some googleing and some said it has a "front focus" problem? If I bump the f/stop up I find its fine to, but I was trying to get nice bokeh today and its annoying as it could be very sharp at f/2 if it was focusing where it says it is.

I agree to, I am so amazed that some of those made it to the finals!! I entered, don't know if I will bother next year or not.
-
I have one more to upload, some of mine have been rush jobs so are not great, but anyway, at least I have had a go!!
-
Shell, Dad had a go and couldn't do it anyway, so I will have another go at getting a photo if the rain stops, otherwise its the creased sheet pic LOL. Carebear, I thought the same, then i thought bugger it, I will enter anyway, I have learned quite a bit all ready from doing it.
-
I had trouble finding more confetti too. Can you iron out the backdrop in photoshop? I have had to do that maaaaaany times! Why don't you enter it and then post it? I have asked my Dad if he can have a go at it in Photoshop, are you allowed to phototshop pics for this comp? I don't know if I should attempt it again, with an ironed sheet, or enter the original one with the creased sheet, will see what Dad comes up with it, I have no idea how to use photoshop
-
Can I post the confetti pic or should I not until I have entered it?
-
Just did my confetti one, i am pretty happy with it, except I used a sheet as a backdrop and its all creased, and I think it detracts from the photo.
-
Just went into town to buy incense sticks and confetti, the confetti was very hard to find!!
-
How are you all going with this? I have done my first two (Close Up and Bubble Gum) but am stuck on the next three.

Just wanted some input on what to ask people if they ring enquiring about puppy's. Hopefully, some time next year I will have my first litter. It is OK to ask for a reference from them? If so, would you ask for one from their vet?
-
Woops, sorry Shell, I must have deleted you when I took out the quote thingy

I haven't had any trouble shooting moving things with my 50D either, I have taken heaps of pics at dog shows of dogs moving, some of my lot just running about the yard and its seems to be pretty good.
