I can understand why they had added the word "english" I do microchipping and many of the puppies I have been asked to chip were described as Bull Terrier's, but were in fact pit bulls. Honestly who could mistake the difference in their faces? soon as bsl came in those with pittys deleted the pit from their description to avoid problems with council registration. there is a lot of slight of hand in names these days. saw a brindle blue frenchie and it has full blue main registration papers. they know it cant be shown because blue is not an accepted colour and they do know it couldnt be main registered if its papers said it was blue, so on the registration papers it simply says brindle is the colour, there is no mention that it is blue, they also have a chocolate, also main registered. wonder how long before the colours are accepted? I remember as a kid no one admitted their border collie had ever produced a blue, chocolate or gold, now they are everywhere and winning as well

They're not a dog that float my boat but Jones sure is lucky to have landed on his paws with the owners he got! a member of my family has bought a cute little one, he isnt 3 months old and is going to need surgery to shorten his palette he has such difficulty breathing, another friends mum lost their's during the heat wave he died before they could get him to the vet, breathing difficulty too. he was only 7 months old. I gather if you want to get one, pet insurance is certainly a very good idea

Cannot remember who put up this link http://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/images/stories/committees/SCEI/Domestic_Animals_/EIC_58-06_Report_Text_only.pdf this from the AVA is gold, has been said so often by so many but no one in government or other breeder for that matter seem to understand this? found on page 17 The AVA stated to the Committee: If the code of practice was being adhered to now, we would have no problems. But councils just do not have the resources to monitor and enforce the code of practice now. The only thing that this legislation is going to do, with the capping, is drive out professionals. You are going to get more micro backyard breeders, who are going to be harder to detect. 43 Dated 6/12/16 doesn't look promising http://www.premier.vic.gov.au/statement-on-puppy-farms/

posted on fb http://www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/video/815846467724/the-feed-december-6 Perfect summation of the problem "animals are not ours to use, not ours to use for financial gain" so unless you give your puppies away, you will never be under Peta, AR or OL radar. How many think that bleating they do not sell their puppies for financial gain makes them a better person? Cracks me up, who is prepared to go to work for nothing, the person who wants a pet , be it an office worker, a plumber, a doctor, a nurse, a laborer every single one of them expects a fair days pay for a fair days work. yet thanks to Peta, the breeder of the puppy they want is pond scum if they think they may receive a profit from the sale. Listening to a group at a show, it amazed me how many feel they need to prove they spend more raising their puppies than they get for them. How sad they are falling for this, the hours you put in to raise a litter you should be entitled to a decent return, instead of apologising for asking a fair price for your work. It takes a lot of work to raise a litter of puppies. As the one who put up the link, said, "This needs to be watched by anyone that has livestock, pets or an interest in animals. Also people who think they have a right to tell other HOW to live/eat etc."

not time for laughing. they have learned a lesson, it will be back to stealth mode again for AR, OL n co. Remember that. How long will it be remembered the attack was not just against dog breeders? Those with cats and birds were going to go down as well. Will all three be legislated against in one hit in future? I doubt that mistake will be made a second time. future legislation will be divided in their targets so only one will rise to defend itself and the AR, PETA(and its clones, and OL lot will hope none of the other potential targets will rally to the defense of the sole target.

To those who contributed to its existence, they do not see that its poorly written, thank goodness they put what they did, so finally the scales were ripped off the sheep being led to the slaughter and they finally realised, that to OL, AR and RSPCA they are all considered to be puppy farmers. Until then everyone was happy to eliminate puppy farmers never thinking they would be considered to be just that. They have been amendment by amendment forced to comply to changes that in effect make them fit the parameters of a puppy farm, why? because to AR, OL and the RSPCA if you breed a female, even JUST ONE female, to them, YOU! ARE A PUPPY FARM. Finally because they were so close to realising the dream they put exactly that in their proposed legislation, one female alone made you a puppy farm, as the commission found the max of 10 was picked because it had "the vibe". nothing else to justify the figure. FINALLY they had their eyes opened, here's hoping they remember the lesson. As for the chances of them remembering and staying alert, and actually working together to prevent being ambushed again, I sure hope it is better than it has been until now. You are not dealing with reasonable people, you are dealing with fanatic's, very smart, very cunning and VERY DEDICATED. FANATICS. Their brief? the elimination of domestic pets. As the inquiry into the RSPCA proved they are a PETA clone now, PETA was infiltrating them in the 19990's obviously this has been accomplished we even have one now sitting as the Minister for Agriculture, make no mistake about that, read her words if you doubt this, don't read them with rose coloured glasses or you will miss understanding her. This work began in the 1970's, its been slow by generation standards but they are so close to winning now, this setback must have them seething with frustration. She certainly let it slip during the inquiry commission.

my, never seen that model before, I think im converted now neat is that. although as said, think I would be making an elastic sided part cover around the bottom to keep in any accidents, awesome ventilation and fit our vehicle much better. thanks for that

Frenchie cross Pug My Frenchie on left, Frug on right. Same price mine Mains registered, all health tests imaginable performed, delivered by breeders from Victoria to SA and incredible nature. Frug purchased online from Interstate, no history, no health testing. Sweet girl and lovely owners Gratuitous Fozzie photos :D 7th down is my favorite. priceless, stacks on the mill and then some. I saw the cutest Mini Schnauzer x mini poodle at a pet shop, cost only 2,000 and they had all been snapped up so fast I only got to see the last as he was purchased, really makes me understand why people breed them, if your out to make money why bother with a purebred, none the associated extra costs to eat out the bottom line I don't even let myself add up the costs of the dna profiling and hearing tests I do on mine to make sure they are as sound and healthy as possible. Sure don't get that, only the knowledge they are descended from a girl my hubby had over 50 years ago and love the temprement and family connection just proves my stupidity in sticking with sentiment. But couldnt do it. others can and are

thats the best way, but I was dropping off a pup and was so impressed by the crate they put him in I bought one. then thought, hey I need 2 so chuffed. received this today, this is why so many prefer to breed or buy their own instead of a rescue. time will tell how long before freedom of choice no longer survives in the nanny states of australia now. "Hello This is Jodie from Mount Gambier SA I purchased a Blue bitch pup off you a couple of years ago and had her flown to Adelaide her registed name is " Callie" out of Princess by Lightning (we call her Ellie) Just thought I would just let you know she is going GREAT I couldn't be happier with her, a lot of people call her small or think she is still a puppy but I think she is the perfect size and has a perfect temperament she is a fine example of how great the breed is and we are turning heeler haters around where ever we go the usual comment I get is "I don't like heelers but I do love yours she is beautiful" half the time it feels like I am defending the entire breed because someone had a bad run in with a heeler and now don't like or trust heelers even when their owner is standing their with them on a lead?? We have been attending Obedience classes since June as I wanted a bit of me time away from the kids and I LOVE it we have moved up 2 classes already and are now in grade 2. I remember our first club competition to see if we would pass to go up to the next grade I still wasn't sure how it all worked anyway we entered and Ellie had be playing up a bit that day not behaving as she usually did in training/class, anyway I told the judge on the way in she's being a bitch but we will see how we go, and well we came out with a score of 195 out of 200 and took out first place won a ribbon and all I was so excited to show my husband when I got home, we are now into our 3rd week of Agility training and she is doing great as well, at home she climbs the ladder up into the kids cubby house which is quite high but she taught herself that just by following the kids up and down. " Um yeah asal, I just read through my original post and seriously don't understand how the rude comment about rescuing fits in. I don't really care about such and such's brilliant heeler... I wanted to know what crates people liked for a lower price. Yes my dogs are both rescues, as that is our family's choice. I was nearly going to buy a purebred Shetland sheepdog or Papillon, but then we met our rescue pup that we have now. In my opinion there should be that choice to get either a rescue or a pedigree if you wish. I love both!! Yes rescues sometimes have behavioural problems, but if you aren't up for the task then don't get one! Sorry but I don't really like someone being nasty when I was asking a completely unrelated question... it was in my head as I had just been reading that 20 pages of the http://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/ima...ember_2016.pdf and Pulford couldn't seem to see if pet shops are so unsuitable for puppies from a breeder, how on earth are they suitable for rescues, they are dogs as well too, last I looked. it wasn't meant as a dig actually, well not at the dogs, but the stupidity of Pulford who I just cant believe has the Agriculture portfolio. But I see now that's how it came out. then to receive that totally unexpected email made me realise why Ive stuck it out now that to breed your own is to be perceived to be no better than being a prostitute these days. have a bad habit of writing what im thinking. I tend to like the plastic crates because, no rust and as I mostly transport puppies in a crate, the adults share a seat and seatbelt. Puppies can throw up when you least expect it or decide they just HAVE to go and the sight of a doo, even worse a sloppy doo shooting (travelling seems to upset some just like kids) out the side of a wire crate onto the seat or seat or boot cover takes my mind totally off driving and the urge to clean up is too distracting if in traffic and cant pull over

the two words dont necessarily go together. I bought a very well made and strong crate big enough to carry a medium sized border collie, kelpie or ACD in a car for $80 from Dogtainers at Mascot. even has bowls for feed and water attached inside. love it. That was brand new not second hand

So hope she is ok, it said later the bites were into the bone, that is a recipe for disaster if the bone becomes infected, awful thing to have happen when your just doing your job. shameful such dogs were on the loose.

If the dogs haven't been declared dangerous/menacing/restricted previously the council does not have the power to destroy them if the owners don't surrender them. I'd imagine they'd be working on that or preparing to prosecute if the owners were adamant, in order to request destruction from the Magistrate. The dogs should be destroyed, obviously, but it can take some work to get there if the owners don't surrender. Other articles described both owners being arrested, with the female abusing the neighbours and other pretty unsavoury stuff. Clearly not responsible and community minded dog owners. what fails me is the police woman attacked, used a taser, capsicum spray but not her gun? Considering the damage they did to her the excuse I don't want to fill out 7 lots of paperwork leaves me unbelieving, a dog around here attacking goats, sheep, cattle or horses don't get second chances, the guns come out in every house withing phone call and they are hunted by all once the alarm goes out. No second chances out here to maim again

 Now would that make to stop and take a second look?

a friend sent her australian cattledog off for a mating. except unknown to her, her darling son had been letting her out for a "run" each afternoon when he came home from work. she did have 4 purebred ACD puppies, the other 7 passed for purebred rotties, at least they sold like hot cakes, wonder what they looked like as adults? the purebred cattle pups grew up awesome so had no setbacks from their other littermates.
-
I had a chihuahua that I thought was in pup to a chihuahua, but when she was due the "pup" was so big both I and vet thought she had 3 pups all in a tangle. so Ceaser done and it was one ginormous pup. She grew to look like a purebred Tibetan and not surprisingly her name was Tibbie. No one picked she was an accident, finally tracked it down to the neighbours Cavalier King charles had nicked in for a visit after digging a hole under the fence, they spotted him when they came home and filled in the hole n forgot all about it n didn't tell me well not until I was saying my girl had produced one seriously weird pup, cute as paint though

the good side is she showed herself up. Bullying when its done to her. educating when she does it to others fascinating mind compartmentalising Just finished reading the article at the bottom, he broke his neck in a fall. Although to a degree im ambilavent about racing to a degree, I loath 2 yr old races, be happy if both 2 and 3 yr old racing was banned even though one on cyberhorse insists research has supposedly proven it is not bad for them. I know mine love to race even though they arent throughbreds, someone goes overtake when out for a ride and watch out, my old boy would take off like a scalded cat to keep his nose in front, could be a real pain. She would never sleep at night I suspect if she knew how many horses that never saw a racetrack and were not thoughbred manage to self destruct in any given year. enforced stint at one of the large vet clinics would unhinge her mind I suspect

consider the heading is "In the news" where is the problem?

muggins me had offered to come catch a dog threatening her cat, but it disappeared before I could get there and then this happens two days later, n yep its one of the three mentioned. gee I'm so lucky, she told me it was a staffy. obviously not, I keep forgetting there are English staffys and then there's the other staffy http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-11-24/three-people-injured-in-dog-attack-at-penrith/8052634

Vic Abattoir Under Investigation For Animal Cruelty - Again.
asal replied to westiemum's topic in In The News
so is this one http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-10-14/tasmanian-abattoir-accused-of-animal-cruelty/7924804 both would have more credence with me if their own inspectors didnt do the same but label their efforts, euthanasia. any abattoir running the stock through a paddock gate and shooting them on the run would have both in court and probably out of business. yet! we have these photos of Inspector Ashton in action freely available on the net. ACCOUNTABILITY needs to be for all, not just some -
how cute is that, looks like a big bambi type chihuahua https://www.google.com.au/search?q=bambi+type+chihuahua&client=firefox-b&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjVw62ZsKnQAhWBHZQKHRV-CTwQsAQIHg&biw=1920&bih=971#imgdii=TGudzSUQ4WgU3M%3A%3BTGudzSUQ4WgU3M%3A%3BbFATbYm9Blvx2M%3A&imgrc=TGudzSUQ4WgU3M%3A check out this link. my favorites are 1, 5, 14, 20 and 21, although 37 might be a ring in as a litter mate for yours. a few ring ins though 15 is too domey to classify as bambi type, as for 23 hilarous somehow I dont think a wolfhound look qualifies, 24 head too domed, 25 hilarious just to mention a few The wolfoundish dog. My vet refers to him as a little deer. :D I didn't realise they were a specific type, the last I read about Bambi or deer type Chihuahuas was pedigree breeders saying that they weren't true Chihuahuas and not to be fooled! It seems this isn't the case and they've always been around but just weren't chosen for the standard? I actually prefer to the look so would probably only ever have a rescue Chihuahua type dog. I wonder if both types are accepted elsewhere in the world, do you know? Or is this something that shouldn't be discussed on a purebred dog site. Ridiculous isn't it, the Bambi type is the original type. Frankly if they had stuck to the real dog of the Incas then cesareans would be a thing of the past, but show breeders have a bad habit of taking a part of the standard and morphing it, it says Apple Dome head but no where does is say to aspire to the full apple instead of a slice. got myself in hotwater many a time with members of the Chi club. got the last laugh when the sentance "in the case of equal merit the more diminuative preferred" was deleted quick smart after the doco "Pedigree dogs exposed" went to air. Had spotted as early as 1978 too many judges were skipping the "equal merit" bit and just selecting from the smallest in the lineup. yes they are a toy breed but El Pis, the male Dorothy Harmer brought back from Chile was twice the height of the modern Chihuahua, did they stick to the standard of thousands of years? nope they "improved" them out of almost recognition. The Russian Toy Terrier looks more like Hilarys original dogs. Its not just dogs, cats suffer the same fate. My uncle Claude bred champion Persian cats in the 1940's and 50's, they had faces, eyes half as big as todays Gargoyles and a muzzle. Modern breeders call my Uncles cats, "chocolate box Persians" because by 1970 that was the only place you could see a photo of them anymore. they even removed from the Persian standard "pleasant expression" so the gargoyles taking over could win. I know because my friend Brenda tried desperately to stop it.

Registered breeders cannot argue restriction of trade in one breath and argue they should not be treated like a commercial enterprise in the next. the pet shops can in spades pretty rich to tell us that selling a puppy bred by a breeder will have poor outcome for the puppy and the buyer. BUT its fine for rescue pups and dogs? thats like telling Harvey Norman you can only stock Westinghouse and no other brand, THAT certainly is restriction of trade
