  1. This chap totally nailed it Alfonso Hurtado Guzman 92tS5u0po53 Aspfril at 00ce:43h3 ·
  2. Another equally misleading article actually. this writer advocates COI testing and only using unrelated parents where at all possible will reduce, perhaps eliminate the risk of creating homozygous puppies of the as yet unavailable dna testing for the thousands of recessive genes still to be found markers for. the writer is assuming unrelated parents will not be carrying deleterious recessives. the writer is assuming only related parents will be carrying deleterious recessives so is buying into the mantra that "inbreeding" is the cause of any emergence of such results in a litter. when will it become recognised that two patterns of a gene in a pup is not automatically caused by "inbreeding" related parents? anyway read and have a good think about the message because it does bring up how many conditions there still is no tests for yet. https://www.instituteofcaninebiology.org/blog/why-dna-tests-wont-make-dogs-healthier?fbclid=IwAR0HFMIh6D9cc8Ld54EVLcs8YBmCqUAfVPTxxZy0eaHb6n-0duib0t8IiMo .
  3. love cav's they are the eternal optimist. once you have had one its definitely addictive, but remember they aren't great on recall and utterly no traffic sense so never go out without being on a lead. you can be lucky and have no problems, my first made it to 17 as did many of his sons and daughters. but every time you use an outside male its a gamble that at times does not pay off. my last two I bred both developed MV at 7. one is still fine 4 years later on medication. the other died within weeks After two pups developed SM I called it quits. I so hope it can be eliminated from such adorable dogs. if you get one, keep an eye on their teeth too. great tarter collectors so need regular checks
  4. to edit a post you did, see the three dots at the top of it to the right. click on them and a box will drop down, click on edit and it will open for you to change or delete what you want. cheers
  5. thanks, so good news for the cavalier component in the pup and 9% joint issues in early done poodles. be interesting to know which breed contributed the merle gene to her pup. As for the $7,000 price tag. shows x breeds are fetching way more than most purebreds poodle puppies are listed here at "Boys $3,500.00 and girls $3,900.00" and cavalier at "The cost of the puppies is $4000" " $4500 - limited register (pet only)" very few actually give a price. But others I have met paid $5,000 for their pet, so it seems obvious puppy farmed x breds are commanding better prices. Met a lady at our local vet and she had paid $7,000 and 8,000 for her two cavoodles and they were the usual colours expected of the x
  6. my niece paid $7,000 for a so called Blue Merle Cavoodle. as any ankc breeders knows, there is no merle gene in either the poodle or cavalier breeds. last I looked the only place oodels come from is puppy farms? it was only 8 weeks old and already been desexed male so will not grow normally as it should as it will never experience puberty google explains how high the vet problems that occur with puppies done too young.
  7. when I was a kid in the 50's hardly anyone vaccinated their dogs, I know my dads were the only ones in our street. I am amazed how many unfortunate puppies are neither vaccinated or microchipped now even though it is supposed to be law that you cannot sell or rehome an unvaccinated or not chipped dog or puppy. this has been law for some 30 years now? yet is not enforced. yet there are more and more laws being passed to eliminate anyone breeding a litter. if they have their way its not the puppy farms being shut down, its is everyone that is not a licensed puppy farm.
  8. WE ARE SO LUCKY distemper is almost unkown devastating way to lose your dog or puppy
  9. spot on, along with on in particular doesnt even bother to work with what is legislated, way prefer to "form the opinion" and act on that, knowing no matter how the targets protest the pollies will back them. regardless of what is actually legislated, those who have been given the powers to "form the opinion" and strike where they like, just use whatever contributes most to the income stream. considering their portfolio is now over a billion in assets and investments been pretty successful, all the figures are available in the agm reports but the pollies never question the sacred cow let alone put anything in place to hold them accountable or an avenue of appeal for the targets robbed of all rights trouble is joe public think only the guilty attract the punishment no one else can be subjected to trial by media? even pedophiles have more rights than a pet owner
  10. THE CHANGE.ORG PETITION NEEDS MILLIONS SIGNING. HOPE ITS BEING SPREAD FAR AND WIDE. INTERESTINGLY i TRIED TO POST A COPY ON A FB ANKC GROUP AND LINKS NOT ALLOWED? Tuesday, 1 March 2022 Reminder: Submissions due on the Companion Animals Amendment Puppy Farming Bill This is an urgent reminder to all Members to complete their own submissions on the Companion Animals Amendment Puppy Farming Bill as soon as possible. We ALL need to read the AJP Bill as it affects us ALL! Click here for the link to read the Bill. We ALL need to make submissions! Please click here to make your submission. It is important to write to your Parliamentary members to state that you are against this Bill because of the reasons that are listed below: 1) That this Bill potentially means that rarely will you be able to purchase a family companion, rather you will have to re-home from an animal shelter, if there are any dogs up for re-homing. 2) There is no definition of what a "Puppy Farm" is. In your own words describe the difference between yourself, as a responsible breeder, and what you would call a "puppy farmewr 3) If you are a DOGS NSW registered breeder, who breeds in your own home, you are non-compliant. Please click here to sign DOGS NSW Petition now on Change.org. It will be headed 'Pets In Our Life' opposing The Companion Animals Amendment Puppy Farming Bill. ____________________________________________________________________________
  11. They are still deciding on a name apparently as was planned to be Companion Animal Party, but apprently animal justice party owns the word animal so they cant use it. interesting times. Was sent a copy of this. apparently it can be shared but only as a copy and paste which is how I came by this. think the closing date to fight the new bill has already passed as have so many opportunities to save our pets. Interesting times ahead. if the bill goes though peta believe it can be amended in future without going to the vote and their vision of extinction is soon to be realised. Hi Everyone, CAP is making a submission regarding the NSW Companion Animals Amendment Bill proposed by Emma Hurst of the Animal Justice Party. Our submission is listed below. YOU CAN SUPPORT THIS EFFORT BY DOING THE FOLLOWING:- Copy the submission Email this to the following 4 email addresses [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] These addresses belong to the Minister for Agriculture, Premier, Opposition Leader and Shadow Minister for Agriculture. ______________________________________________________ This submission is made for and on behalf of the Companion And Pets Party in response to the proposed bill Companion Animals Amendment (Puppy Farms) Bill 2021 as introduced by the Hon. Emma Hurst, MLC. OUR FREEDOM - OUR RIGHT Executive Summary The community has a fundamental right to the ownership of animals, and the freedoms that our nation provides allows the quiet enjoyment of these animals. No government in Australia has EVER been granted a mandate by the electorate to revoke that freedom or that right. That right and that freedom are fundamental rights that citizens of Australia believe are naturally theirs. This Bill seeks to greatly diminish the rights of people to own animals, and the rights people have to quiet enjoyment of their animals. THE COMPANIONS AND PETS PARTY (CAP) WILL VIGOROUSLY DEFEND THE RIGHTS OF THE PEOPLE OF NSW AND AUSTRALIA TO OWN ANIMALS, AND ENJOY WHATEVER LEGAL PURSUITS THEY UNDERTAKE WITH THEIR ANIMALS. CAP calls on the NSW Government to immediately abandon this bill. HISTORY OF FREEDOM AND RIGHTS Whilst Australia does not have a Bill of Rights, the USA does, and an analogy can be drawn from this bill as to the fundamental rights that Australian citizens would believe naturally belong to them. The American Civil Liberties Union makes a detailed commentary on the history of the Bill of Rights as it relates to the U.S.A. It outlines the following:- The nation's founders believed that containing the government's power and protecting liberty was their most important task, and declared a new purpose for government: the protection of individual rights. It goes on to detail the separate meaning of Democracy and Liberty (Freedom). Democracy means that people ought to be able to vote for public officials in fair elections, and make most political decisions by majority rule. Liberty, on the other hand, means that even in a democracy, individuals have rights that no majority should be able to take away. These rights are defined as “"unalienable rights" and are also called "natural" rights, and one writer stated they were "the great rights of mankind." One of these rights is listed as :- Privacy The right to be free of unwarranted and unwanted government intrusion into one's personal and private affairs, papers, and possessions. The community has a fundamental right to own animals, and as such they become possessions. This is the very issue at stake here in this Bill. With the privilege of owning an animal also comes the serious responsibility for the welfare and care of the animal. A responsibility this party will help ensure every owner complies with. THE PROMOTORS OF THE BILL The bill is introduced by the Hon. Emma Hurst of the Animal Justice Party. This party is inextricably linked with Animals Australia, providing links to Animal Australia’s site from its own website. PETA is linked to both these organisations through its policies and philosophies which are so aligned in many ways. These organisations have a goal of ending animal ownership of all types. Evidence of this is drawn from documents produced by these organisations, and those who run them. The Animal Justice Party, amongst other things have stated “to phase out the sale of companion animals, including birds, reptiles and fish….” and “…to phase out the breeding of companion animals…” Another comment by an AJP candidate “…how about we stop breeding of all sorts there’s no such thing as a good breeder……” Comments from Peta include “…pet ownership is an abysmal situation..” and, “...In the end, I think it would be lovely if we stopped this whole notion of pets altogether”. and, “...the cat, like the dog, must disappear…” There are volumes of reports about Peta in the USA, and in the other countries where Peta is represented (which includes Australia,) regarding behaviour, comments and actions, that any decent person would find reprehensible. These statement and beliefs strike at the very freedom and rights of Australians to be able to enjoy their companions and pets free of interference from those seeking to impose their will on others. There are numerous other reports surrounding this organisation that can be made available, or can be sourced via a simple search of internet. THE BILL This bill contains so many areas that seek to remove our freedoms and rights. This party does not intend to outline every weakness in this Bill, nor does it intend to try to amend this bill in any way. This Bill has no place in our society, and The Companions And Pets Party (CAP) opposes its introduction. CAP calls on the State Government to withdraw this Bill which denies Australians their right to the ownership of companion animals and pets. _____________________________________________________
  12. no names but one I know well everything was LR and desexed, they paid for an outstanding import and all that progeny sold was LR and desexed. plenty of new genetics although if you wanted to access it, would have to have the desexed pups cloned to produce backyard pups
  13. explains my neighbours golden. she phoned me and asked for my help, she said he had brought home the head of a goat, and she was so sickened by the sight she could not touch it. asked me to come and put it in the bin. I had known that dog since he was a pup, I had no idea he was food proud, he would have been 10 months old at this time. so I went to her place, picked it up and threw it in the bin, except although he was wagging his tail he went for me and he wasnt kidding. the snarl was spine chilling and I spotted the tap and hose with seconds to spare turned it full on and into his gaping mouth choking him with the water going down is throat deflected his teeth from my arm. the bitch admitted she deliberately did not tell me he would attack if I touched it because she knew I would not have done it and she did not care if I was bitten, long as it was in the bin. She expected I would be bitten, was happy to pay the doctors bill as her hubby is a doctor. She was amazed I managed to deflect him. thanks for nothing very ex friend neighbour. I kid you not. for obvious reasons i wrote her off the "friend" list and never "helped" her again.
  14. That was the reason I was given for the opening of the "development register" I know many who submitted dogs. I looked after one of the last Rokeglen girl's for the remainder of her life. So many decades ago. I met the only kennel left with MR stumpy tailed cattle dogs at sydney royal her dogs were beside mine. They were the only exhibits
  15. there is an ironic twist here surely? only the dogs bred by the backyarders and these genetic's preserved by the very backyarders so despised by the ankc members? Are the ones to end up in the "development register" but not those of the dead end ankc kennels. (they were either already desexed prior to sale, or with desexing contracts.) Yet, once these "development register" dogs belong to ankc members they too will be probably only sold on LR only, so back into dead end kennels, anyway
  16. yes the most often heard is No one is getting my lines I worked so hard to improve. so LR all the way and those supposedly ever so precious "lines" die with the breeder. best example is the stumpy tailed cattledog. not a single MR owned by anyone other than Iris. the good news is once its down to that point, then a "development register" will be finally allowed and dogs submitted for assessment and into the grading up register.
  17. so the sacred cow remains sacred
  18. Encouraging new members went out the window a few decades ago. main reason so many steer clear of ankc breeders now,
  19. LR now its the same cost as main now to register them yet you cant show them you cant breed from them no matter how high their quality. Limit isnt for the pet quality puppies anymore. its for every pup you want to ensure cant be used to continue their heritage
  20. it is very effecting in limiting any competition. but the breeder speak is they are ethical, only register what you keep for yourself has been the gold standard for decades now
  21. I just totall crack up when they started bleating, "a responsible , ethical, breeder will life guarantee their puppies". like yea, so I can life guarantee my child's health? FOR LIFE? IF WE CANT EVEN DO THAT FOR OUR CHILD, how on earth can you be so stupid to think you can for a dog, cat, u name it anything that wasnt manufactured like whitgoodes which are never guaranteed for more than 3 year, 1year being the norm. As my vet said, breeding is a lottery of unseen unknown genes, the dna profiles only pick up a miniscule percentage of the deletrious genes to be found. Sanity, common sense? out the window these days. LIFE IS A LOTTERY. yet we are expected to know more about our pets genetic makup than our selves or our children??? no wonder so few want their necks on the chopping block by breeding a litter As for the limit register. back in the olden days, main registered puppies comprised any puppies the breeder was proud to put their prefix too. Even when it wasn't a flyer that would go Australian champion, all the puppies that were a credit to the kennel and could produce good sound puppies went on main register; Believe it or not breeding quality puppies outnumber show quality puppies by 10 to 1, even 30 to 1. but those breeding quality puppies often produced better consistency in their litters than the show winning champions. I saw this often. champion to champion mating's with some 25% of puppies that would be pet quality only and never registered, but sold as pets with a written pedigree instead. But those puppies were dead money to the register. fast forward to the ankc bowing to the AR nutters and all bitches were restricted to how many litters they are allowed, how often a year they can have a litter and all of a sudden income has halved for the ANKC. Solution. ALL live puppies MUST be registered. the once pet puppies must be Limit registered. income restored. Except all of a sudden its the Ethical, Responsible who will never sell a puppy on main. "you cant let your bloodline out of your control" "you never breed except to replace the parents" "you never breed to supply pets to joe public! or your a puppy farmer to be hounded ouf the the ankc" so dead end kennels is the epitime of Ethical and responsible? I have other names for them but they are not repeatable in public. something about ego, over control etc ................................................................... well the mess is escalated to the point many, including vets I know who see the ankc ending up irrelevant to purebred dogs and they began saying that almost ten years ago now. I noticed when RNSWCC decided to become more relevant to the dog owning public and registering x breds and unregistered purebreds for companion dog events changed the name to DOGS NSW. I believe they have spotted the writing on the wall and its now to be changed to DOGS AUSTRALIA. to appeal to more pet people as the purebreds born continue to fall towards endangered levels now. I do think they will intervene in the end and open breed development registers to bring the numbers back up again as they did for the Australian Stumpy Tailed Cattledog. Fortunately there are millions of invisible purebreds being born independently of the ankc members for classification when needed. I well remember how many magnificant stumpies turned up for classification when the development register was opened and dogs asked to be brought for classification. not bad for a breed that had for many many decades only one registered breeder who would not sell on main register
  22. that was sure brought home to me recently, had a litter attacked by, oops forget the name, but they needed Baycox, except my vet had only 10 mils in stock left. all warehouses out of stock due to shipping shortages. with 7 pups to dose it wasn't enough and all 7 died. that was a heartbreaker. ordered a bottle just in case it occurred in another litter down the track. was told earliest delivery the warehouse could send would be December , price $240. fast forward to February and stepson's bosses calves had same problem and baycox desperately needed to save them, was picking up feed from local produce store and there in his fridge was TWO! 250 ML bottles? Bought both at believe it or not $130 each? one for his bosses calves and one for any future puppies might need it. then this week vet rings, 3 months after the one I had ordered last year was supposed to arrive in Australia and yep, still $240 for the same size bottle? Thanked the vet profusely but explained had managed to find one in a produce store who kept it in stock for clients for calves and piglets. (same is used for puppies) I daren't tell him what price they are selling it for. was I a coward? or being tactful? meanwhile produce store had restocked and has 10 in the fridge for clients and yep, still the same price? Interestingly its privately owned produce store. not part of a chain with the buying power like the pet barn ones.
  23. not alone, had a mare with at least 6 broken ribs, the pain she was in she had to be put down. I sure didn't want to as she was only months off foaling so why would I want to lose the foal if the suffering of the mare wasn't my concern? The idiot vet argued with me for over an hour with alternatives. Get a tractor and hip lift her then Sling her so she cant lay down etc she was in so much pain she was down with no intertest in getting up, odema of legs and body, internal bleeding u name it she had to be put down. She finally gave up and did as I had requested in the first place. BUT the bill certainly reflected the time dragged out by her, Pardon me if i suspected that was exactly the plan frankly. scratch that one off ever letting through the gate. Too many come out with so little hands on knowledge it is very concerning only after being put down and her laboured breathing ended and the area collapsed inwards would she finally concede how massive the trauma was???????
  24. my vet told me over 20 years ago booster closer than every 5 years is over vaccinating and most dogs never need boosters after their one year booster. ditto for cats
