Cocker Grooming Advice Sought
Becky in Oz replied to Becky in Oz's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
This is a HUGE help. Thanks Toohey and KW! I can see the lines quite clearly. I like the short legs, it looks smart. If I grow skirts like that I won't have to sweep the wooden floor anymore! Aha! Good point about the grass seed catching area. Thanks, Toohey. i'll print this all out in colour at work. Thank you! -

What have you got already???? SInce Maverick and Gomez are sleepers and not showies, they dont require as much attention. I'm sure the breeders etc can tell you that :D I bought a Mars Coat King but I haven't had to use it as much as I thought I would. Professionals would do handstripping instead. I mainly use for my sleeper Cockers are: clippers with #10 blade scissors - straight, curved and thinning (I dont use all of them all the time) wide tooth comb slicker brush nail clippers I pretty much have what you have minus some of the differning scissors... clippers with #10 blade scissors - straight, wide tooth comb slicker brush - I have metal toothed combs and a brush nail clippers I don't know how to handstrip, sound slike plucking or pulling the hair out. Is that about right? Or am I just a saddest? -

Bottom picture please. I like the show look, yes, but I know my limits. The boys I have, had always been kept short (mum before me had them this way). I kept the clipping short but after looking at DOLer cockers, I want to give a longer coat a try. Toohey's bubs are very cute, as Mag the Dags, well- actually they're all cute. The bottom pic is something more achievable for me. -
Have a look at my post with the pictures http://forums.dogzonline.com.au/index.php?...p;#entry1565468 I am trying to become a good mommy and groom them meself. trouble is I am not sure how 'thick' I let their legs become. And where exactly is the line off the lower body for the hair to grow long (feathers i belive they can be referred as)? Thank you in advace for your suggestions. By the way, I have a dvd that shows me how to groom the cocker but I am not really getting the answers from that and I have books, too, but they don't seem to go into this detail.

That was hilarious! I had tears, as well. But I thinl it was the laughter in the backgrounds as well as the guy's expressions and reluctance yet sheer determination to go through with what he set out to do- to demonstrate the 6 levels of shock the dogs feel when wearing the shock collar. His little, 'whoop,' sounds while being shocked were funny, too. At the same time, I wouldn't do it (wear it or put it on a dog). Wouldn't have done it before seeing it and definitely not after.

Better link, thanks! The dog has its tail between it's legs, but the dancing part gave me a big giggle.

Someone said peppermint keeps dogs away. Pepperment spray (essential oil diluted in water) or plant some mint (or put in pots in the area). ????? -

Rip Kuta, We Beat The Bsl To Lose You To Ill Health.
Becky in Oz replied to Tia's topic in Rainbow Bridge
She was the catalyst to help you win. She's not lost, she won. You won and she won. Now she is just resting after starting something good. RIP Kuta, watch your footprints, many others will follow your lead and beat the council, too. -
I am so saddened to hear this kind of news. Finally she was given the love and home she so much deserved only to go to the bridge. Words can not express. Big hugs to you and the new foster home. RIP Alecia.

A Poem For Christmas For Those Who Lost This Year
Becky in Oz replied to mgeyer's topic in Rainbow Bridge
I've copied that and will send that to my sister who lost her only son at age 21 just before Easter this year. She's religious, so this is fitting for her. Thanks.
