  1. We're big believers in the BARF diet for dogs - but since we buy the meat quantities in bulk and keep it in a huge freezer, its difficult to calculate exactly how much the per day cost would be... but whatever it is its worth it for the wellbeing and longevity of our beloved pet.
  2. Thanks Rachelle, no doubt there will be future opportunities to persue more training and canine fun!
  3. Hi Brooke, let me see what I can do. Most pics were a bit dodgy due to light conditions, but I think I have a couple of Ben which would look OK with a bit of tweaking.
  4. Hi Gang! Thanks to Steve for an interesting and informative evening of K9 Force training. I learned some new stuff and cosoloditated previous information and I feel I can progress with Flame - especially with the E-collar. It was nice to see you all and have chat - I was sorry that Rubeedoo and her friend Kellie had to leave a bit early, and that Karma was not on centre stage - but there is always "next time" Special mention to Diva's debut as the puppyish centre of attention. How cute was she???? And my compliments to Bear for his friendly licks and hugs and to Ben for his skillz. Myszka thank you for making such a yummy dinner! I'm sure everyone would agree it was very TASTY
  5. Its MYSZKA here again After I posted the subject last night I went home and wanted to feed the dogs, Was carrying the food for baby and both dog were following me to the door. I needed extra hand to hold one back (well sort of) so I said to Rex heal down stay. He did it perfectly. Diva looked at me wit the food, looked at Rex looked at me and did a perfect drop in drive, wacking the front paws on the floor hard What a clever dog!
  6. well this isnt FD, its me myszka, just using his computer atm. Re "kicking" and touching. It is VERY important to me that the dog has no problems with being touched all over, weather its by hands or feet or whatever. If that means that I loose out on something - so be it, Im not going to go into explanations here, its jst very important hence I do it. Anyone wanting to know the reason feel free to ask me privatelly. Rag I "used" was accidental we just played near some washing on the line and it fell on her.
  7. Yes indeed! There's gonna be some super freaky fun with Karma - the ultimate pint sized canine dynamo!!!
  8. OK so who's getting excited!?? It should be a fascinating and informative training session, and its pleasing to see some varied canine representation. I'm looking forward to seeing you all there!
  9. JBBB has been a bit unwell recently, so I am not sure we'll make it today... I'll see how she's feeling when she wakes up. But I hope all you guys going have a great time and maybe grab some pics for those who can't make it - please? Flame sends her sincere regards in the form of a "high five" paw wave!
  10. Wowzers Rachelle, that inflammation effect was dramatic. I imagine in the case of a multiple bee-sting it would be imperative to get immediate medical attention because it would possibly be a life threatening scenario. On a lighter note, I was thinking that if Ellie was transformed into a Sharpei with a beesting reaction, then my Flame would probably metamorph into a Rotty! Thankfully Flame seems to be able to "get" the insects before they "get" her... like stamping on cockies and crickets with her paws. I hope this doesn't happen again but a least we've all learnt something.
  11. I hope it won't be long before this cute little "Devil-Dog" starts thinking of me as Uncle FD!!
  12. Such a cute puppy deserves to have a little diary kept of her experiences! How snuggle-licious can you get??
  13. Hey Megs, I would be more than happy to have a play with Nitro... as you know I have no problem at all with him leaping up at me enthusiastically! I kinda felt a bit guilty because I kind of egged him on to jump up on me, and then you had to correct him... I guess I'm a bit of "bad boy" for encouraging the natural leaping tendency of Dobies...
  14. Hi Myszka - I am really enjoying Divani's eloquent updates. I wonder if she will inherit more personitly traits from her human mum or her Dobe mum???!!!
  15. Megs, would you agree that little Divani would be up for a "schnoogle" ???? ;)
  16. I'd say the black is the definitive colouration of the Dobermann breed, but there are certain browns I've seen which have such personality that they demand attention and adoration (Myszka knows who I mean!! ) Rachelle maybe Ellie would like a cute Dobie-licious playmate just like Diva??
  17. I acknowledge that sometimes a "correction" is required... but normally I am more of enthusiastic about positive re-enforcement and reward.
  18. Hi Brooke, nice to hear that your goals with Ben have something in common with those of Flame. And Ben may find his opinions echoed by Alibear's "Bear" Incidentally I am totally cranky that Inspector Rex has not be on lately... and Flame is not too happy about it either because she likes to get involved with the action with barking at the TV when things hot up in the plot...
  19. I'll be pondering the topic of which is cuter... Dobes or German Shepherds! Seriously though, I will asking some E-collar questions and querying how to establish reliable control of Flame ultimately offleash - in the context of drive training and continuance of on-leash work.
  20. Camo in the secret weapon in masking muddy paw prints from rampant Dobes!
  21. I'm looking forward to this training night! I will whip Flame up into a frenzy of anticipation! Can you feel the excitement????
  22. Good Luck Mojo! I liked your reference to Harley being like a "Cartoon Dog". It's like they have the full complement of Scooby-Doo style "acting" methods. Have you posted any pics of Harley? Hi Wynernblade - sometimes I think that if Flame actually said something, that it would not be all that surprising or seem all that wierd... a bit like in the movie Doctor Doolittle when the Guinea Pig first speaks and the guy starts talking back conversationally without realising "Hey, this is an ANIMAL talking!" :D
  23. Dobes are clever "problem solvers" and will try to pull stunts that faciliate their objectives - just like a child would. If whining works, then they will do that. Sometimes when Flame wants something bad enough, she'll try every trick in the book in sequence. Sitting in front of you "Hey look at me I'm being SO good!" or barking sporadically, or "growly-talk" or whining or putting a paw on your shoulder as a reminder or notification that she wants something. Overall whining is not huge in her bag of tricks, because we made a conscious decision to ignore it so she knows its ineffective.
