  1. And she has judged huge numbers of Leos - so hopefully a good entry for my breed too :)
  2. Had a few scary moments with two breech puppies ended up with boy 253g, girl 261g and boy 244g all feeding and doing very well My girl is a great mum though trying to get her to eat not too worried at the moment as she did consume the placentas but making her up special meals today to encourage her Many congratulations !!!! Great to hear the pups arrived safely. Hopefully mum will have her appetite back soon. Heartfelt thanks to all who have sent thoughts to my girl Rose & I on the loss of her singleton pup. Rose is doing OK. I'm keeping a very close watch on her at the moment but she's doing well. Give all of those pups born in October a little hug from me. Cheers
  3. Hi Heidley (& everyone else following this thread). Our Leo girl delivered a gorgeous, healthy & strong boy pup by c-section just before 8am yesterday morning. All went OK with the surgery & he was active & latching onto his mum with ease for a feed. He was placed into a humidicrib to keep warm after his feed whilst we waited for his mum to recover. When it was time to head home I took our girl out to the van & my hubby went to get the puppy. Suddenly & with no warning the puppy went limp & his heart stopped beating. The team at our Vets worked for 45 minutes to try & save him. They got his heart going again on 2 occasions but he just kept crashing. There was no more they could do. My husband & I have arranged for a post mortem to be done to try & give us an answer as to what caused his death so suddenly. We can't understand how a strong & healthy pup at birth could die so suddenly. We are utterly heartbroken but focusing on our girl for now to help her recover & grieve the loss of her singleton pup.
  4. Here's a pic of my Leo girl checking out her whelping box for the first time. Only a week to go - vets still saying only 1 pup on board - I'm a bundle of nerves. PS the box isn't finished yet - we have crush rails to put in - my hubby will do that on the weekend.
  5. Many congratulations Heidley to you & your clever girl. Wonderful news to read. So glad that all went well for her & the 4 lovely pups. Look forward to seeing some pics when you get the time. Cheers
  6. Thanks Heidley & Mjosa for info on singleton litters & elective c-sections. Wishing you & your GSD girl all the best Heidley & the same good wishes to your friend Mjosa. Cheers
  7. Best wishes to you & your girl for a safe delivery. Same good wishes to all those awaiting the puppy stork this month. I'm getting nervous too & my Leo mum to be still has another 2 weeks to go. She had a 2nd ultrasound done & it still looks like a singleton litter. The repro vets are urging me to go with an elective c-section but friends with years of breeding experience are telling me to try for a natural whelp. It's a big decision - I've heard so many horror stories about singleton litters ending in disaster - I'm feeling really freaked out at the moment. Just want to do the best by my girl & her puppy. Cheers
  8. The Melbourne Royal results site is saying third was the Norwegian Elkhound - Graabine Cruize To The Top. I am not there,so am going off what people are telling me, apologies for the error. many FB pages say it was the Irish Wolfhound, you can edit later if it was the Elkhound Just speaking with a friend who watched the judging & 3rd in Group 4 was definitely the Irish Wolfhound. Cheers
  9. Thanks everyone for posting the results so quickly - much appreciated. Congrats to all the winners :D
  10. Hi - I have the pages scanned for you as PDF docs but I can't work out how to attach them to my reply as they are too large. Cheers
  11. WOW - Congratulations! Amazing result for you. Bet you can't stop smiling :D Cheers
  12. I seen one being groomed, but didn't see them in the ring to see how many were shown. Thank you :) My friends were entered with their Dandie but couldn't go today so wanted to know if any others made the trip into the Showgrounds. Cheers
  13. Hi - did anyone at the show today notice if there were any Dandie Dinmonts? I can't see that breed on the list of results. Cheers
  14. Thank you for sharing that link. It was so lovely to watch. I loved the way the Deerhound was jumping up for a pat & a cuddle. That put a big smile on my face to see both owner & dog so happy. Cheers
  15. Thank you to everyone posting results. Much appreciated by those of us stuck at home. Cheers
  16. Congratulations to everyone with litters on the way. My Leonberger has been confirmed pregnant by ultrasound. The Vet only found one puppy though - fingers crossed tightly that a couple more are hiding away in there. Her litter is due the 16th October. This is a first for my breed in Aus as I used imported Chilled Semen from New Zealand & had a TCI done. Cheers
  17. Totally agree with the no change out of 10K !! You also have to be prepared for the possibility of spending that small fortune on a dog that you may not even be able to breed on from for one reason or another. I'm a member of the 'expensive pets' club. To have the breed recognised here you will have to actually import one of the breed & obtain an FCI export pedigree for the dog. The ANKC won't even consider your application without AQIS proof that the dog has arrived in the Country. Cheers. .
  18. Congratulations. Like Brintey's Leo girl - another litter of 8 born ont the 8th of the 8th :)
  19. Well Done Singe !! Hope you can soon get some of this Cheers - L
  20. Chrissie Swan & her just as ignorant offsider Jane Hall should shut their mouths until they are actually prepared to do some research instead of hysterically calling for the eradication of breeds such as GSD's, Rottis & Rhodesians - amongst others. I've been listening to her unfounded rants yesterday morning & again today where she questions why anyone would want to own a dog that weighs more than 50 kilos - sitting in judgement of people like me as if we are some kind of child killing monsters. Ms Swan hasn't met me or my dogs yet she is of the clear belief that my beautiful dogs have no place in society simply because they weigh more than 50kgs. That appears to be her only criteria to declare large dogs a dangerous menace & a threat to all children. Strange that Ms Swan didn't have the same level of concern for her own unborn child when she made the decision to smoke cigarettes during the later stages of pregnancy, despite the undisputed FACTUAL evidence that smoking whilst pregnant can have serious long term effects on the health of the foetus. And don't even start me on how she sent her 'rescue cat' back to the shelter because she found it sleeping in the babies cot. Wonder if her Bondi Vet buddy Chris Brown shares her extreme views regarding large dogs & dog ownership in general.
  21. I'd say that's pretty normal. You will need to be careful that she doesn't do herself or someone an injury if she's become more vigil. They can also injury pups if they fly out of the box to investigate. Totally agree. My Leo girl was a shocker for bolting out of the whelping box if she heard a noise. I had to put a notice at the front door asking visitors to be extra quiet & not bang on the door or tap on the window. She settled down once the pups had been weaned. Really excited for you Brintey. Not long to wait now. Re the number of pups - Saffy's vet saw 6 at the 2nd ultrasound & she had 10 in there!! Good luck to you & Singe for a safe delivery. Cheers - L
  22. CONGRATULATIONS !!! How lovely - 3 of each. Wishing you all well. Cheers
  23. Hhhmmm.... I'm just wondering then how willing the DPI will be to permit members of the 'Applicable Organisation' to keep & breed dogs contrary to the codes mandatory for a 'Breeding & Rearing Establishment'. For example if 'Commercial Breeders' are no longer permitted to breed a Giant Breed bitch after the age of 5 years how will the DPI be able to ignore a Dogs Vic member with less than 10 fertile bitches breeding a Giant Breed bitch at say 8 or older ??? (Not that I personally condone that BTW). Or will Dogs Vic have to amend their code of practice to comply with the DPI requirements ???? or face losing 'Applicable Organisation' status ??? In all honesty - I'm worried.
  24. Congratulations !!! How exciting for you. I hope Grace has an easy whelp - with loads of lovely Pyr pups for you. Always great to hear about AI success for the giant fluffy breeds :D Cheers
  25. Double Ditto :D Really appreciate the effort you have all gone to with posting the results & photos! Cheers
