5 ks.. ohh i didnt see tht part. definatley to much for a young pup. id cocentrate on very short walks 5 mins even and getting his lead manners right.
-
exactly shoey, also try the find heel excersise, remys getting to know it real well. most times..lol as i said use food/treats to lure him back into position thats the best place to be !!..
-
great post,, sometimes you forget the little things . great for new puppy parents.
-
imo you should start him NOW why wait till he is older and it just becomes a habit to him , i know time is hard , i have 4 kids myself try using food as a lure hold it at his nose height by yourside, continue feeding him while he is at your side lure him there, stop when he moves ahead lure him back there. he will soon learn that it is a good place to be, i have used with success the infin8 halter type. more like a martingale collar with great success. i know it dosnt fix it , but sure makes it a lot easier and you can work them off it. you can get all the advice here and very good advice from experienced trainers etc,, but IMO you need to get to an obedience club, they are there to help and show you, he will pick it up quickly , i wish you would come down to the club,, your not to far away and we could catch up on that drink hahaha joking, otherwise how is he going does he love his kennel? how is everything else with him, id love to meet him..
-
ahhh thats a good one ,might try that, mystafford doesnt really chew things , like milk bottles etc.. he loves his nylabone and his tug toy,, hes a weird one..
-
suz can just see it now..lol mine have never had a problem either and my breeder said the same , i think they would think im ripping them off if i only gave them half of it..lol
-
another question,,,,, regarding eggs,, how many is to many,, my dogs love them and would eat thm every day if i let them.lol on the weekends they sometimes have soft boiled and toast, noooo not spolied at all..

went down to watch was great night very successfull for the club, i think 9 or 10 of our members got passes.. -
thats fair enough kayangel. go with what your dogs do best on, like everyone else does,.. i have always fed the whole egg shell and all,, and none of them have ever been sick or had any problems from it..
-
i feed mine whole raw eggs shell too, about 2 or 3 times a week, they love it crack the egg then crunch it up and mix thru rest of food, shell gets crushed that way have given all my dogs whole raw eggs for years none have ever had a problem, i had heard that its only if you fed the white by itself thats when its not good, but would have to feed a lot of egg white

Chicken Necks, Frames, Ribs Etc
ReXy replied to carousel266's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
safeway, some butchers will have chicken necks, im in melbourne and i get all my chicken for dogs at Leonards chicken shops. IGA/ Ritchies also has frames usually 2 or 3 on a tray for $1.99 with necks attached and good meat on them. some wholesale meat places will also have chicken frames etc,. i went to one once and they couldnt find a price/code for the box of frames, so he gave me the whole box, there was aprox 40 frames in the box, with a good amount of meat on them too.. all for FREE my dogs loveeeee frames. -
its to protect against kennel cough...i think yep it is for KC. but there is a risk as with all vacines that they will develop very mild symptoms of it as well, which remy did.. he wa just more misserable and lethargic than anything with slight cough.. BUT a few months later he did get KC again,, he also developed a chest infection and had antibiotics for it
-
i dunno, its new thing i guess, i thought originally that would be good that he would be covered at an earlier age, i didnt let him mix with other dogs untill probly nearly 2 weeks after the vaccs ( vets advise ) and he still had a mild dose of Kc. wasnt untill maybe 2 days afyer he had the vaccs just keep an eye on your baby. not a lot you can do...
-
Cayenne just got her 12 week vac, the vet swears to me thats all she needs - as long as it is given at 12 weeks and not at 11 etc... he said the 12 week mark is important when doing it this way because of the mothers anti bodies.... He said not many vets in our area do the 3 step option any more... when i got remys vaccs, he only had the 2 at 12 weeks, vet also said it had to be done at 12 weeks exactly. and it was the nasal spray one, he was sick and got KC after it, poor thig i felt so terrible.. think when the next pup comes ill do the 3 at 16 weeks..
-
great advice i agree.. i did same with my dogs as pups,, markets schools shops etc,, socialisation is so important

Group Stay At The Dagboy Residence

lol thats a classic i love it.. the 2 on the end are a bit cheeky tho lol -
another thing that an instructor told me for back end awareness is just to shuffle around and ask them to find "heel" position.. do a step forward and then a 90 deg turn get the dog to swing bum around back in the heel position,, keep doing it so you kind of walk in a square shape, if you get what i mean..lol apart from practising the heel position, it makes them aware of their back end.. good vid they are so cute

Ahh We have worked out the couch ting now. As you suggested, we showed him what we wanted him to be and praised him, and never let him up, when he jumps up we say "no, Down" and he now he does. I have shortened his daily walk, by half. Now its just a few hundred metres. For the first half is cocky and confident. Seems like each noise chips away at his confidence - i have just been encouraging and distracting and now he walks this route very happily. Sorry if i was clear, he didnt growl. His kinda slinked down and his heckles came up - aside from that day it has only happened onece since when he was obviously frightened of a dog barking that he couldnt see. I think now that he was pulling on the lead out of fear - because the last time he was scared and his heckles came up he pulled on the lead, he just wanted to get home i think. Either way, whever he does it i stop and wait for him to relax then we walk - now i trots along with us nicely I was probably a little bit to eager with some of this stuff an shoudl ahve let him settle in more - he doesnt sleeps as much as he did on the first weekend - probably exhausted and a litrtle scared after his big journey. I will call at end of the week with a few questions - thanks vry much for the offer :D Rexy - thnks for the offer re the school - hastings is a litle far, i am going to Karingal which i very close - am booked in for next thursday - cant wait :D awsome jimmy, let us know how u go..

the main source of my guys food is raw foods / bones veg and fruit which they loveeeeeee..lol they get a small amount of dry in the morning with egg or yoghurt.., thanks for your thoughts, i wasnt aware that purina had taken it over. as ive never brought it before.. ill be giving half to friends cocker whos not terribly fussed, 20 kilos of the stuff will take me forever to get rid of..lol as they only have a few small handfulls in the morning.
-
kool , thanks for your thoughts..
-
ok, i know its probly been done before, but i would like opinions if anyone has used it as the heading says,, purina bonnie puppy.. i was given a 20 kilo bag of bonnie puppy, altho it does list bran, meat and meat by products i think from memory bag is still in car.. it has a fair amount of protein etc obviously its not a prem brand food and there is better, but i was wondering if anyone has used it and with what results.?. i usually use nutrience i have almost ran out and was given this bag so will see how they do on it
