  3. im trying the nothing in life is free concept with dodge as he is sometimes little over bearing like bowl the kids over for a kiss and cuddle..lol which they dont mind of course but not particually good maners for a dog i think... so he is slowly learning sit nicely and u will get lots of pats and cuddles and maybe even a biscuit if ur a goood boy...
  4. just wondering if any of u local to me people (hastings... westernport) or anyone else.. have heard of hastings obedience club and have any sugestions opinions as im new to this area i dont know of anyone... here thats heard of it ,they train 10 o clock sundays and have puppy preeschool tuesday nights i rang and the lady i spoke to was lovely and very helpfull and i will go and check it out on tuesday and sunday as i am having issues with dodge pulling i brought the black dog halter. which has proved to be sucessfull...tho still trying to get it off..lol but as we have finaly settled here i can finally get into obedience more with my babies he loves being out is a very social dog and id like to have a bit more controll over him thanks in advance simone
  5. i found that my cat altho only 7 was doing this as well but she was obviously stressed due to moving a few times... i used nil odour and also a product i brought from the pet shop and cant for the life of me think of the name but it is a deterant spray which smells quite nice to us but dogs and cats hate it i used it to toilet train a pup as well if they wee or poo on carpet clean it as bets u can then spray a little on the area it is supposed to deter them and mask the smell as u kno once they have marked in 1 spot they will keep going back to that spot ... strangly enough it was behind the tv cabinet my cat was doing it too. from memory i think it is citronella based...

  8. i have followed this thread with interest as my pup is nor almost 11 weeks old and i have taken him to a range of places that u have all mentioned he loves the car and comes everywhere with me... i took him to see his brother who has not been as socialised as toby and what a huge difference...toby has almost no fears or worries doesnt mind the vacume cleaner the lawnmower kids noises bikes anything really i am so glad and thankfull for all the info given here.. when i frst started i wasnt sure how much was to much but have since learnt that i can and will encourage toby to many new situations without overwhelming him he has been in a bus seen a trian been to bus depot... etc my husband is a bus driver so that wasnt a problem..lol. nail clippers tooth brushes plastic bags u name it. balloons balls.. he still thanks as small as he is that my gym ball (the excersise ones) is his ball to play with..lol even tho its 5 times his size..also he has even sat on a motorbike with me turned on but obviously not riding anywhere.. this little boy imo... is a little champ and a gutsy little boy... anyone who ever said little fluffy dogs are wimpy should come meet toby....... here he is walking on the tredmill..lol
  9. mine get bathed about every 3 weeks or so more if needed shih tzu x gets smelly more often and has terrible coat... lab is pretty clean and loves to swim... baby pup has had 2 baths since i have had him due to being muddy..lol discovered the sand pit and had some bones which made him quite smelly...

  13. great advise thanks guys my lab boy is a puller no matter what ive tried chocker chains stop start and with a bad shoulder its very hard to walk 2 dogs with i pulling and a bad shoulder.... was going to try the halti but local pet suplies shop told me to keep trying choker chain with short lead and smack him on nose with newspaper.!!! i didnt try this of course.... so will look at halti or some type of harness ... i have heard tho with harness the dogs tend to pull more and can use all of their body weight to pull u with...lol with that i have mental pictures of me and doge skateing down the park.!!!lol any mpre sugestions would be appreciated dodge loves his walks but i simply can not go on my own and would love to be out walking more to benefit both me and dodge helpppp pleaseeeeee thanks in anticipation....
  14. aww hope hes ok... doesnt sound to bad if hes not in any pain or discomfort... sounds like what horses get if they are overworked on hard surfaces called shin splints.? dont know if dogs can get them just sounds familiar either hard work sharp turns unintentionally.... dont know good luck and let us know how he goes

  18. i think its a great idea i used to go to one similar in hallam when i loved in hampton park.. vic..... i usually bath dogs at home but everynow and then a hydro bath is great for them ... i had a shih tzu x and a border collie then and they both loved it... good luck in your buisness venture id love to do something like that....where abouts are u vic???? id come visit... lol
  19. i am of the opinion of the previous 2... 6 weeks for a chi is very young to be left alone.. i recently got a cav x pup but waited till 7 weeks to pick him up even then i was a little concerned... but considering mum wouldnt have anything to do with them feed etc... i took the pup knowing i could be there for him 24/7 as i dont work and am able to feed him 4 .-5 times a day of when ever he requires feeding. not just for the feeding aspect but be there for him.i dont hink 6 week old pups should be left to entertain themselfs for long amounts of time my pup is now nearly 9 weeks old and he goes everywhere with me and is never left alone.. just my opinion.. and good luck with your pups.
  20. i used to show horses and i did the rug thing for the horses... also had miniature horses their rugs were easier.. ... but also a wall hanging sewn on to material.. and framed pics and also frame ribbons with photos of horses/dogs
