  1. Never thought of FEET !! My guys have frames, wings & necks as treats .. hmmmm will have to go them some feet - I'll bet they love it.
  2. Depending on what State you live in - in Queensland (well SEQ at least) it is not compulsary to Microchip and therefore no discounts are offered which is pretty sad. Ipswich City Council charge a yearly fee & only offer discounts on desexed animals. How's this for revenue raising ... Entire Dogs Per Annum $84 (get a discount of $14 if you pay early) Desexed Dogs Per Annum $44 (get a discount of $14 if you pay early) With our 6 (officially 4 live here, 2 desexed & 2 entire & 2 entire at Mums) we pay $340 PER ANNUM on Council Registrations ... ETA: That's paying early with the discounts When we lived in Sydney we had a once only Lifetime Council Registration fee of around $120 provided we stayed in NSW.... esbo_8150 : everything else I was going to say has more or less been covered ... Good Luck with your little one & enjoy !!
  3. hydropooch - if you PM your email address to me I can send you a copy of the current information kits for the Autofill & Fixed Rinsing hydrobaths from HA (I also pitched in when Jose` was taking over & still have these on file here at home). That way you'll have the information on hand when you go to make your enquiries
  4. Petbarn - Penrith stock the HA Baths as do several other Petbarns. Jose` is the owner of Hydrobaths Australia and he'd be happy to help you out. Sorry - don't know anyone with a plastic bath.
  5. Ours is also a 5yr old fibreglass Conmurra bath and has never missed a beat (been used for personal use with 5 dogs PLUS mobile grooming). Granted it cost us alittle more but to me it was money well spent on a quality product. The company was sold earlier this year to a friend of ours and is now known has Hydrobaths Australia - still in Salisbury (Brisbane) ETA: Just checked out the BARF shop website - they are selling Liberty Fibreglass baths which are more expensive than the Fibreglass baths sold at HA.
  6. And rather than taking dougies advice onboard and moving on (no-one is saying you have to agree with that advice) you're arguing with him over & over again like a broken record. Delivery?? yeah it's abit abrupt at times but if you take the time go back through this persons' previous posts you will see through the abruptness and realise that this person has alot of experience & alot of fantastic advice to offer. My guess (as I don't know 'dougie' personally) is that they are the kind of person who calls a spade a spade and there is certainly nothing wrong with that - wish I had the courage to say what I really think sometimes ..... Now that I've said my 2cents worth I'll leave you all to your 'conversation'
  7. I am but speechless and sitting here shaking my head
  8. Fidos Shampoo Range This link is direct to the supplier of Fido's products - they also list Technical & MSDS fact sheets which are always helpful when choosing different products.
  9. Ditto for general everyday bathing I have found Fido's shampoo range to be pretty good. Perfume Bouquet is also a lovely concentrate cologne but I buy mine from a friend so couldnt' tell you where else it is available.
  10. My guys were fed exclusively on Royal Canin until we discovered Nutro a few years back and changed HOWEVER Royal Canin remains our 2nd choice and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it !! The Royal Canine Rep in Brisbane is a friend of ours and if you PM me your contact details I can put you in contact with her for more details??? (Troy, am I allowed to do that??? if not please edit my post accordingly !! thanks )
  11. 40kg = 88lbs Suggested Feeding guideline : 66-90lbs is 4.25 to 5.25 cups a day Guidelines are for adult dogs with moderate activity levels. These guidelines should be adjusted as needed to maintain optimum weight. Serve dry or lightly moistened. Keep fresh drinking water available at all times. 335kcals/per cup. Use a standard 8 oz. measuring cup. Nutritional Adequacy Statement Animal feeding tests using *AAFCO procedures substantiate that Natural Choice Large Breed Adult provides complete and balanced nutrition for all life stages. ETA : My Hamilton males are 32kg and eat 2 sometimes 3 cups aday of the Adult Maintenance depending on exercise levels etc.
  12. OMG 46kgs?? That's shocking - glad they contacted you for assistance and guidance here as that poor old man needs to loose some weight !!!
  13. We have been feeding our Siberians & HamiltonStovare NUTRO for the past 4yrs - wouldn't feed them anything else. Coats have never looked better, weight is easily controlled, poos are small & really non offensive .. would highly recommend it. Where are you located??? Depending on where you are located if you contact 'Hesapandabear' here on DOL she should be able to sort something out for you with regard to purchasing NUTRO
  14. As someone mentioned earlier - there are good and bad operators everywhere. We used to be involved in the industry (on several levels) and I have seen first hand groomers in salons/vets & mobile using the same water for several clients. ;) I have also witnessed those like us who cleaned out the bath & disinfected in front of their clients after EVERY use Good Word travels fast and if you continue doing the right thing it will be your name and not 'jo blow down the road' who will soon be getting all the business. Luckily not everyone believes their Vet is god so trust in yourself and keep up the good work!
  15. Just another plug for Nutro My guys have been fed Nutro for just over 3.5yrs now and haven't looked better, we have a customer who moved from England to Perth (WA) and we send her food every couple of months - she also wouldn't feed anything else & her dog has been eating Nutro for all of his 9yrs. The freight costs aren't all that bad and in my opinion worth it if you getting a good quality food. Good Luck
  16. My 2 Hamiltons stopped 'growing' at around the 18mth mark but they are 3 this year and even though have had a litter (Mum & Dad) they both still carry on like big babies (30kg babies) !!! Our Siberians settled down around 3-4yr old mark but being now 6 they still have their moments when you look at them think 'OMG - you daggy little puppy'
  17. YIKES !! Will have do some more research on those things ... only just got some samples in for the puppies but will look into it more now before handing them out. Cheers
  18. ;) Ditto t-time .. our guys get bathd weekly in Fidos' NEVER had a sick dog ... but then again they don't eat or drink the stuff
  19. My guys are classed as Medium to Large and now that they are fully grown they are fed once a day - generally at Breakfast. Although, having said that I do have 1 dog who likes to 'lean out' on me everyso often so she either gets her meal split in half (half morning/half night) OR we feed her at night so that she 'sleeps on it' instead of running it off all day ... IF that makes sense?? Too early in the morning to be thinking about how to word something ..
  20. Chicken (22%) Meat or Meat Based - Meat is the clean flesh of slaughtered cattle, swine, sheep or goats. The flesh can include striated skeletal muscle, tongue, diaphragm, heskeletal muscle, tongue, diaphragm, heart or esophagus, overlying fat, and the portions of skin, sinew, nerves, and blood vessels normally found with that flesh. This is what some people would call on the hoof or "wet - state". This applies equal to all livestock whether it be Beef, Chicken, Lamb, etc.,,,. After processing these meats can loose up to 80% of their weight. Thus when looking at the ingredients list you might find it as number one but in truly reality after processing it will fall between 4, 5 or even 6 on a true ingredients list. I would recommend checking out this site - it BASICALLY covers the ingredients in dog foods for you and can arm you with enough knowledge to make an educated decision on your own. http://www.doberdogs.com/menu.html The big thing you want to stay away from is "By-Product" and then check your preservatives. Natural over Synthethic (sp?) ETA: Canine Nutrition is a 'hot' subject - as mentioned by many people find a food that works for you and stick to it IF you are happy with it. IF not then look for alternatives
  21. I would offer them their food at the same time you do now - if they don't eat it then take it away ... chuck some gladwrap on it, put it in the fridge and offer it for brekkie in the morning .. again if they don't eat it take it away for dinner. 24hrs in the fridge wont' hurt the food any. ETA: Perhaps also try alittle TRIPE ..... all my dogs (4 adults & 5 puppies) LOVE it even though cutting it up makes me sick ;)
  22. Just a thought - have you perhaps tried Lamb Mince??? it's tasty and contains alittle fat - I just mixed a small amount in with Puppy Kibble for one of my little ones who doesn't really like Dry Food (10wks old so they can be forgiven) and she gobbled it down !!
  23. Without wanting to offend - which method of feeding is going to suit you best? My 2 Siberians & my Hamiltons hoover their food down (Super Premium) but we did have a Sibe a few years ago who sounds exactly like yours!! She was terribly frustrating ;) :D ;) Perhaps try a mix of both BARF & Kibble as others have suggested - will leave comments about BARF preparation to those experienced with it. Just make sure you cover all your nutritional requirements. Also, maybe switch to a more palatable Super Premium?? I'm a big fan of Nutro & Royal Canin so I guess am alittle biased but Eagle Pack, Natural Balance & California Natural also get the on paper. I wouldn't be leaving their food out overnight for them - put it down, give them say 20 mins?? then remove it. The 'theroy' is that the BF is right and they won't starve themselves to death but it is very worrying I know when they get really thin from not eating. Offering them a thousand different things will make them FUSSY!! Most dogs will do well no matter if you feed BARF or Super Premium or mix of both. You just need to decide what it is you're going to feed them and slowly introduce it. PM me if you want some more specific help on how to wean them over to just a kibble diet alternatively, some of the BARF people may be able to give you some really good advice in that direction ;) ETA: Either way - it's entirely your decision - just hope we all can offer you some alternatives
