  1. We also have to consider the ethics that we have to abide by when breeding. I shall breed only for the purpose of improving the standard of the breed, and not for the pet market or any other commercial purpose. Unfortunatly there are many registered breeders not breeding for the right reasons, and breeding for the pet market.
  2. I got the blue pyramid matting at Bunnings last week it was about $22 per meter. I'm using bondcrete to attach it to the wood.
  3. Did the AGM go ahead tonight? I heard that a decision might have been made not to proceed with the meeting, because of the controversy as to whether it has been convened according to the Constitution.
  4. Does any one know if there are new sites for Vic Obedience and Vic Agility?
  5. I second the Sards. My maremma always comes up beautiful, even when she has had lots of fun rolling in horse poo.
  6. Early last year, I heard that a NSW vet was docking in WA. There are vets that still dock in WA though.
  7. No, he was from a registered breeder.
  8. I'm a local too as of this year, I must join the kennel clubs. It will be a great way too meet some of the local doggy people. But unless I have a new pup, I wont be entered. I have retired my old boy and because of the bloody grass seeds the girl I have been showing has a very large shaved patch on her neck. Show side of course. I think it will be a year untill the coat grows back through. I'm sure the clubs could use an extra helper.
  9. I found the floor slippery last year. Especiallly showing the GSDs. I wonder why the council is letting the clubs use the shed. They normally charge $5,000 for a weekend of hire. The clubs couldn't be paying the hire fee. I hate Rochester being on the same day as Bendigo. Years ago when they use to have them on the same day, I had a dog in Aust breed in show the last general specials class at the show. I arrived at Bendigo just in time for my breed, no time to set up or groom. I had five dogs by myself which were just shoved from trailer to trollies and rushed ring side. Actually(brain storm) I wonder if the clubs are allowed to use the shed because of the VAS Saddle Horse Championship which are on the oval in late Jan.
  10. I'm wanting purchase a wooden dumbbell, ideally made from one-piece wood turned on a lathe. Does anyone know where I can purchase one in Australia? I found some nice ones in the USA, but as it is wood quarantine may want to chemically treat it. Thanks for any suggestions.
  11. I add white vinegar to their water to stop burn marks. It neutralises the urine. There is also a product called dog’s rocks (mineralised rocks) that you put in the water. Vinegar is also great for cleaning up accidents.
  12. There was a Portuguese water dog at a tracking clinic I did last year in Melb her owner was explaining to me how she was desexed differently. I try and 'track' down who she is.
  13. I have GSD my boy was very picky until he got a sister, he'll still turn his nose up at things like veges and pasta unless I put liver sprinkles on it. (Brought from Coles) I have found that lamb flaps but weight on and Bonnie Working Dog dry food My friend feeds satin balls to her dogs to put on weight and swears by them I found this reipie below. They must be avaliable commercially she can't cook. Good Luck SATIN BALLS This recipe is one for putting weight on an animal quickly, as some use it for putting a couple extra pounds on a show animal prior to the big day, or an animal that may have been ill and needs a weight gain program. It has also been reported that this recipe will help with some forms of hair loss, such as when your dog(s) blow their coat, to keep the coat healthy and shiny. This recipe is entended to be fed raw. 10# hamburger meat 1 jar wheat germ 1 lg box of oatmeal (uncooked) 1 1/4 Cup vegetable oil 10 eggs 10 sm pkgs unflavored gelatin 1 1/4 Cup unflavored molasses A pinch of salt 1 lg box Total cereal (2lb's) (You may also add a pinch of garlic powder to add flavor) Mix all ingredients together well, much like a meatloaf....put into separate freezer bags and freeze, thawing out as needed. It puts weight on in a very short time, not to mention the gloss in their coat. You can use it every day when they have a show to do and it does not produce diarrhea. It can be fed alone or with kibble.
