I paid $60 for 3 x 1hr lessons (1 a week). Orson was little and I had never heard or been to puppy classes. It was conducted by my dogs' (I have 2 now) vet hospital. Orson enjoyed it and OH and I did too. But now that I think about it, I wish I had enrolled into the dog club I'm in now (for beginner's obedience) and I would have paid less and got more for value. I enrolled in the dog club and I went through puppy classes and I learnt more in puppy classes at the dog club than at the vet hospital (we still had fun at the vet hospital one tho)

OH chucked them into the shower with me this morning so I tried Aloveen. They smell wonderful and their fur is very smooth and soft!!! They were tossing around quite a lot after the shower tho. I dont think they like the smell so much but it makes them very soft and more cuddly  I only bought the sample pack incase it didn't work out but now I think i'll buy some more!!!!

I've just bought a sample pack of Aloveen so I will try it on my 2 naughty furkids and let you know

Buying Flea And Tick Treatments Online
kaywoman68 replied to Natashja's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I'm going to be ordering my second batch soon. I've noticed the price has gone up a little but I suppose that's to be expected. PP is still the cheapest I've come across. I usually buy them in advance so I dont have a problem with it being a few days late. They've been pretty good with service tho. It only took 5 days to get my first order (weekend included) -
I'm sorry for your loss RIP little one

I agree!!! Maybe if we cut the things from the list adults do eat from then we would all be healthier

I feed my 2 cooked chicken breast mince cooked beef mince raw chicken wings and necks - I dont feed them carcass that often cos I think of them too big and i dont want to take the risk of them choking at all eggs - they seem to like boiled ones better sardines in oil and salmon (canned) - they do get fresh fish every now and then rice and pasta and dry food (royal canin) I have recently introduced fish oil capsules into their diets for shiny coats I do buy the small packets of Pal Puppy Food (chicken and lamb) just to give them a little bit of variety. I keep a small bag of Pal Adult Dry Food in my pantry when I have my mum's dogs over (they're fed on Pal and I rather now change their diet since they've had it for so long. They do get raw chicken wings and cooked mince). Orson always pops his head in the bag and grab a few everytime I have the pantry open. I think he likes it because it's different from what he gets to eat. I feed my 2 heaps of treats. I can only hope they wont turn into tubby cockers! (I do weigh them regularly and they are in the recommended weight range for male and female (I have 1 of each)

I'm sorry you had to let her go but it was for the best. She was a gorgeous girl

He's soooo cute. I would never be able to scold him. Would it help if I tell you when Orson was younger, he chewed a hole in the wall? OH didn't find it very funny. Good luck! What's the little fella's name?>

Thank you, I will try all these suggestions

Puppy obedience has helped Orson. He used to nip me all the time because he thought he could trample all over me cos I'm a big softie. He still bites when things dont go his way but it's a lot less. I'm going back with obedience training with him starting next week so hopefully it'll help us more. My goal is to get him to bring the ball back to me cos he balls (he lets me have it instead of growling now which is a good start)

Hi, I just fed my 2 their dinner - boiled egg, a little bit of olive oil and dry food. I remembered the vet telling me to feed egg and oil when our collie was having bad coat (her coat is better now ). What oil do you recommend? I've noticed a lot of people from previous threads using fish oil capsules. What are the advantages of fish oil capsules for dogs? Is normal ( ie. olive, sunflower) oil alright instead of fish oil capsules? ETA: 'normal (ie. olive, sunflower)' so it doesnt see to make people think i'm talking about buying fish oil

I've got a ceramic bowl. I've had to buy several because i'm a bit of a klutz and i lose my balance when my 2 just jump on me!!!! I got my mum's dogs a big plastic bowl (there's 3 of them plus my stepbro's one). They've got a small bucket too as a second water source. It's only small cos otherwise their heads can't reach over the top. :D I've had no problems with algae whatsoever even after a few days but they are in the shade. I try to change their water everyday but sometimes I get too busy to do it and feed them (my mum does feed them). INcase you're wondering why i'm too busy, it's because they go to work with my mum and it's very hard when phone calls keep coming in and I just can't get out of the office.

I gave my 2 an egg each when they were outside while I was having my dinner. They were jumping up and down cos they saw it was an egg but as soon as i put it down, they sniffed it, bit it, let go and gave me the strangest looks!!!! They must have thought it strange that mummy would give them something they can't just gobble up I can't find any remains so Im assuming they ate it (I put a little hole in both eggs). I'll try giving them another one next week and see how they go. If not, i'll just go back to giving them boiled eggs
-
I've been told to be careful about the wishbone of the carcass (little v shape bone) cos it's very hard. I'm afraid it might choke them. I've been happy feeding them chicken wings!!!
-
I currently boil my eggs and peel the shell off for my 2. Aren't they spoilt? One of the cocker breeders I met at the Canberra Show said it was alright to feed raw eggs (not on regular basis) so I might start doing that and see how it goes. I was reluctant to feed them raw egg up until talking to this breeder because some people have suggested egg white isn't very good for dogs....dont remember what reason now.

My sister's on holidays atm but she used to be in charge of clipping Tissue's dew claws cos it's her dog. I forgot to ask the vet if his dew claw was attached by bone or tendon.
-
My mum paid about 270 for one of her dog's back dew claws removal. The cost of removal, anaesthetic, bandages etc.
-
Don't worry, I dont feed mine carcasses either. I fed them like twice and got freaked out incase they choked so now it's nice little half wings for them. I hope Indi gets better soon! Keep us posted on her progress!!!!!
-
Try feeding her some cooked chicken and see how that goes. Orson had diarrhea when he was little so I fed him some chicken. It cleared up after a while and now he's a happy puppy having chicken every day (my mum owns a wholesale chicken meat business so I have access to chicken wings, meat and carcasses!!! )

Try doing a search. I considered getting pet insurance myself after I had to pay a hefty bill for my girl (she had an abscess). I decided not to get insurance in the end. Most people say they put away a little bit of money each week/month into a separate account (the doggie expenses account) and that goes towards anything the doggie/s may need in times of emergency (injuries, short of cash etc).

I ordered 2 regular Black Dog Training pouches from The Vet Shed on Sunday. They're currently processing my order so I should get it soon. I also ordered the two little pouches you can put inside those training ones so you can take it out and wash them after you put treats in. Vet Shed has the cheapest I've found so far. Even the manufacturers (Black Dog) sells them for more than Vet Shed. the website is www.thevetshed.com.au if anyone is interested. They do charge $5 for postage for orders under 3kg but i reckon it's worth it. ;) I can't wait to get my training pouches so I dont have to use plastic bags!

Flea, Heartworm, All Wormer For Puppies
kaywoman68 replied to caesar's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I'm currently giving my 2 Sentinel Spectrum. It an all wormer and hearwormer too. It treats fleas too (It doesnt kill the ones already on the dog but it'll prevent the flea cycle). I've been advised to Use a flea treatment as well as sentinel spectrum. I haven't had any problems with fleas so far. Maybe I've just been lucky.
