  1. Tango does an inside left about turn - I taught him fairly early by dropping my shoulder 1 step before I turn...now I only have to drop my shoulder 1 cm and he instantly backs up one step and turns....a bit like dressage really.... I can get him to go and sit somewhere or go through a door using head and eye movements only.
  2. 2 Weet bix with breakfast and another 2 with tea - it's the only way I can keep any condition on Tango in winter because he runs everything off...but they worked a treat!!!!!
  3. Tango had an allergic reaction to I don't know what when he was between 9 months and about 2 years - the symptoms were slight redness between the toes first and then the ear flaps became slightly pink and the scratching started.....after trying antihistamines that didn't really seem to do anything, I started washing between his toes and his ear flaps in Phisohex...and BINGO!!! No idea - but it worked a treat - only took a week and hasn't had a recurrence since.....
  4. Live just out of Trentham, and was checking the level of the Upper Coliban...presence is an understatement now they have established the stud as well - I suspect they'll buy all the properties in between the stud and the racing facility ....and Tylden will be renamed you're right - beautiful country!!!
  5. I'm so delighted with how they have come out and I had an enormous amount of fun shooting them........I'd love to do more of this sort of thing.....wonder if Wadham Park TB stud needs some horses photographed......
  6. Wasn't in the paddock with them - it's great what a telephoto lens can do (part of the time I was standing in the middle of the road hoping that I didn't get so absorbed in their play that I didn't hear any cars coming ) I'm actually going to put the photos onto a CD and track the owners down and give them a copy of all the photos.
  7. There are 2 mules in the herd and both are allowed anywhere without being ticked off interestingly......but they show no signs of being anywere at all in the herd hierarchy...
  8. Drove home the long way round but didn't manage to fit any of them in the car, so I took another 187 shots of them...here are a few more...and there's more to come.....today, I was standing there with the muzzle of the herd leader planted firmly on top of my head (that's after he'd gone and pulled everything out of my pockets first) - do you know how hard it is to take photos when a horse is trying ever so carefully holding you down with his muzzle on which which a tonne of horse is leaning I had a ball!!!!! These 2 played for half an hour - amazingly gentle with each other.....lots more photos of them tomorrow Another inseparable pair..... 2nd in command Watching over the youngsters at play..... Brothers I reckon - like peas in a pod
  9. I've used cheese held tightly in my fingers so that it literally had to be licked, slurped, sucked out from between my fingers in small pieces to slow Tango down because he used ot be the same....
  10. Photo was taken in the central highlands of Victoria near Kyneton & Tylden......I love the Welsh cobby......also want to get some 'body parts' photos but wasn't close enough - that's next weekend's challenge
  11. spot on - it's mule - got a photo of him...will put it up tomorrow night...I'm delighted with the way the pics came out - first time I've photographed horses...might have to go back again this weekend.....
  12. Went for a drive this afternoon and tripped over this little very photogenic 'herd'....
  13. Boronia Veterinary Clinic!!!! or Pretson Vet Clinic in Bell Street (see Robin)
  14. Beautiful emotive photos!!!! Made me feel all relaxed!
  15. I use Polaramine for both me and Tango - and it will actually stop me going into anaphylactic shock - so they work pretty fast!! Wouldn't go anywhere without them in my pocket as Tango is highly allergic to Euro wasps. 1 tablet for either of us is enough.
  16. Brilliant - I love the photo series!!!!!
  17. when Cadence was desexed I collected him on the way home from work - still groggy.....it took me a long time to find a vet that I was happy with ....and I wouldn't leave a dog overnight if there was no-one there (but that's just me).....
  18. I've got to the stage that Tango greets mate with a lead on and it's still almost impossible to keep him glued to the ground till the obligatory pat has been given....I just know that if I stick to it for long enough it will work - it's easier getting Tango to do what I want than to get mate to greet Tango slowly and patiently...... so I'm educating Tango...
  19. I use a Canon 400D - much of the time it's left on full auto, but for sunrise and sunset shots I usually run it at between ISO200 and 800 - the Canon handles faster speeds with no trouble at all - only camera I'm confident in using and shooting at ISO1600 without a huge amount of noise!! Hazelnut sunset - July June sunrise April sunset March Zoomed in.... March was a great month for sunsets in Trentham!!
  20. If you'd like to do Tango I've got this one with nice clean outlines (without the handler...) - I'd love a copy for my wall if you felt like it! You're work is great!!!!! PS: I can get art & stationery at wholesale prices...
  21. BB,, hugs and kisses of caring from me and Tango.....be gentle with yourself....we're all here with you.... {{{{{hugz}}}}}
  22. Flooding works - I'm doing this with Tango and horses atm...after a few visits around the horses down the road, he's far less stimulated by their presence and has started behaving as if he's actually not interested - exactly the reaction I was after. Worked with dogs with him too...
  23. You can also use Dimetapp (the red one) to help sooth the throat and stop them coughing. The dogs and I have used it with much success over the past 20 years....
