  1. My repo specialist has told us to be prepared for day 61 but it could be a day or so earlier! AI breeding normally is less than 63 days. It is very different to a natural breeding.
  2. I am 10 minute drive away. It is a lovely spot. Enjoy!
  3. Off on another camping trip this weekend to Wondai. Caught up with a few Dolers at Toowoomba last weekend. Got to see Stonebridges lovely Bully baby! This will be my last trip before our litter is born. I hope it is not too hot.
  4. Really?! I find the Kluger comfy and BIG. Only downside is that it doesn't come as a Diesel and I don't want a big Prado or Landcruiser. I've done 90,000 km with the Kluger. My boss has one too, he's done 80,000 km and his car is 6 years old!!! Hopefully within the next months I find a good used Hilux with most of the stuff I want. I would imagine a canopy is pretty expensive, so I might look for used ones which already have a canopy. Well our brand new Mitsubishi canopy cost nearly 4k but you can get non genuine ones that are much cheaper and you can get them as high or low as you need. Flexiglass Challenge do them up here. I would be flat out getting one Dane in the back of the Kluger (with the rear seats up as I need to carry little people as well) Love my Triton Love that car
  5. You will have much more room in the back compared to the Kluger
  6. We had the ute liner fitted as part of our extras when we purchased our truck. Only had it a week but gosh how we love it. Tows the dog trailer beautifully!
  7. It is often recommended to sterilise allergic dogs as, not only should they not be bred from, hormone fluctuations can really effect the skin condition of some. Yes it certainly was the case. The bitch in question was eventually desexed and magically skin cleared up. Back in the 80's though things were looked at differently. Vets were really not as up on skin problems back then. I have not bred on with that bloodline as I also experienced cardiomyopathy and that was enough for me to ditch it. It was a multiple Best In Show winning bloodline and the dogs were very successful but I could not live with the health issues that were in that particular bloodline.
  8. I have bred two dogs that i know of with a skin problem. AJ with his lick granuloma which is a mental issue and a bitch back in the 80's that had terrible skin issues all her life until we desexed her and retired her from showing. Her father also suffered from a similar skin problem. Back then we did not have as advanced testing etc as we do now. We found that Tina's skin broke out more often when her hormones were running. We found elimination diet etc was not the case in both dogs conditions. Danois, glad you have some answers. Good luck with Boo. I hope his treatment helps him!
  9. We have a new Triton with a canopy. It is great because it has a rear electric window so it can be opened and the canopy gets the air cond too!
  10. We are confirmed. Fawn litter due 3rd Feb. Ch Kochak Pussy Galore aka Perri, sire Kochak Hellbender. Should be a lovely line bred litter.

Thanks for that riesenhaft. Your 8yr old girl has the same as my 8yr old GSD boy - he has a lot of elbow and knee problems and therefore exercise is limited. Your younger ones need a lot more that my younger GSD, so now I'm wondering how much exercise do they have a day to require so much more? And sorry, one more question, I see you still feed your 20mth female three times a day - for how long would she need three meals a day? Sorry not clear was I :D my younger bitch 3 cups each feed. Sorry to confuse. Danes put in a lot of growth as youngsters. Even though they may not be burning up cals via excersise they do grow at a very rapid rate. Pups we raise on Euk Large breed puppy. Depending on the pup they can eat between 3-5 cups per feed twice per day. Dogs tend to need more than females. Like us people some are fatties and some have hollow legs ;)

It depends on the dog. It can vary. My old desexed girl who is almost 8 has two cups of Eukanuba maintenance and a handful of chicken mince morning and night. Bones and various off cuts during the week. 5 year old show male has 4 cups morning and 3 at night of Euk premium performance his brother has 3+3 plus they get chicken mince etc. I find the older the get the more they taper off their food from about 6 upward. 20 month old show female 3x3 each day of maintenance as well with the meat. Amounts of kibble can vary according to the quality of the protein in the food.
  13. Being a brissie girl who hangs out a lot with those rambunctious Border Collie people at shows I have to say competition is stiff up here and many do dress to impress. They are smart dressers in the ring. No jeans etc. Maybe you should come check out a local show and see what the competition wears at shows? Good luck with your new show addiction. Group 5 people in Brissie are pretty friendly.
  14. How exciting Hesa! I would love to see a bi blue! We have an exciting Dane litter due early this year so fingers crossed by next big winning boy is in there! Would love to see BJ put a BIS on Brady the Sheltie. He has had a few Best In Groups now and many judges have said how much they love his sound movement ant that they would happily award him a BIS. It is getting the right judge at the right time I guess? She has him well on the way to his Grand so fingers crossed. Also looking forward to a quiet year of showing. I don't want to be witnessing any more of peoples bad behaviour and drama at the shows! I have two very well behaved children who adore showing and and enjoy the weekend out. They don't need to see people carrying on like yobbo's. Shows should be safe for everyone and never violent! I enjoy being with my friends and cheering them on. I can take a win and a loss with grace. It would be nice if everyone could do that as well
  15. We recently used Pets at Peace when our old boy Norton had to be PTS. The service was amazing. I cannot speak higher of them. I am sorry to hear you were spoken to like that. It is just not on! I feel for you.
  16. add us to the list. Due 2nd Great Danes. Fingers crossed she is preg! The wait begins.
  17. MSM powder could be of help. I would also go with the Cartrophen injections. A little info on MSM http://www.mfcd.net/depot/downloads/msm.pdf

I like him This was the best photo I could find of her. She is much nicer in RL. I am not fan of 3/4 side on shots. It straightens a lot of angles on dogs. She had a beautiful flat topline and from memory was a lovely free moving bitch with excellent drive. I would have liked to have seen a bit better lay of shoulder (but a lot of dogs suffer this) I found her a quality bitch. There were over 750 dogs exhibited at that National. I like many of the heads on the photos I have posted. The first picture of the old dog exhibits exquisite breed type, symmetry and beauty. All dogs have a fault to some degree in the photos I have posted. But what dog doesn't? These dogs were all highly successful under their peers in the breed specialty ring. That in itself tells you about the quality of the dogs

You are so right there girl. A path I would not like to go down. We have enough to worry about just with conformation let alone adding colour to the mix. Getting the structure right is hard enough work.

Ash this bitch is BISS CH Giant Steps Front Page News. I had the pleasure of seeing her go BISS at the Great Dane Club of America National Specialty in 1996 at Fontana Wisconsin. She is a lovely type of bitch beautiful mover although her markings are not perfect. She is the product of colour cross breeding. Fawn X Harle. She is the type of bitch who could be any colour and still look beautiful. Thanks for that Michelle. I have often wondered if people did cross colour matings with danes. I know that with cockers it's frowned upon to breed solids to parti colours but with so many new people involved in the breed, it has become quite common (even my mother did a solid to parti mating! Didn't think I'd ever see the day.) There are the inevitable mismarked pups but they are obviously pet homed. How common is it in Australia? Sadly it is often done here by inexperienced breeders or puppy millers. It takes courage to do such breedings on a knowledgeable scale. It is fraught with danger regarding colour for many generations to come and one must be prepared to be hard and to cull or desex all those pups who don't make the grade ideally fawn is not desired behind harle lines. It is mainly done to improve conformation. Often at the risk of losing the desired markings. Many of the top winning coloured dogs in the US come from breeders who have crossed the line and done mixed colour breeding. Not all breeders agree as some are colour purists. I take my hat of to those who have been successful.
