Huge congrats Dee_al - and you're right - just take your time - the dogs do it all when the time is right, there is no point rushing them! We only have a couple of trials left in the year also - then the xmas break ups and the couple of months off for summer. Poor miss K won't be entering the rings again for quite a while I don't think . which means.... time to pull out my finger and start training for UD!!!

woo hoo Dee_al - way to go!!!!

Fantastic news Dee-al. Just go out and enjoy tomorrow! Don't worry abou the passes - you have the first one out of the way now! that's awesome! Go Kane Go! I miss pass cards... I've forgotten what they feel like

Agility - Sout Eastern Suburbs In Vic
leopuppy04 replied to claireybell's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Hastings and Croydon are well recommended by most as great agility clubs too -
are you SURE she completely understands what the behaviour is? Perhaps she thinks "steady' means check in to that area and poof - now we are right to go again. To teach these types of behaviour the dog needs to know position, duration and be able to complete it in different areas. It needs to be worthwhile and REWARDING to stay there, given that you are competing with the equivalent of "disneyland" I'm a firm believer that you don't need a lead to teach it - if you rely too much on the lead... it usually crumbles when the lead is gone. All puppies that I've trained (even adults) are trained off lead from the get go... the key is making it worthwhile for them to work and stay with you. JMHO

You city guys are so spoilt! :p Glad to hear Leo is feeling better ;) hehe - yup - lots to choose from Leo was falling asleep during his massage.. you could see his eyes getting droopier and droopier
-
Let me know how it goes Cosmolo :p IHF - yeah he's fine now . I took him to a trial on Sunday and after crying about how bad it went, I watched his vid and you can see he's quite sore. As expected he had pulled a hammy. Georgia did a fantastic job ( TSD!) and did LOTS of massage to make sure everything went smoothly. I was very impressed
-
Do you know - it could be he mightn't be used to training in the morning What time are the classes normally?! I find that dogs are part feral at night too
-
  Will DEFINITELY be using you in the future Nice to have someone so close for a change
-
She sounds fantastic - I might give her a call and see if she can squeeze Leo in... does she do AH or only BH?!
-
Thanks TSD - I wanted to steer away from the chiro (our previous treatment) as I wanted something with more massage.... What's the price I would be looking at with her?!
-
Does anybody know of a good Physio in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne? I know there is one at Myuna Farm, but that is around 40 - 50mins away from me, and I am away from Thur onwards... so I'd like to get Leo seen ASAP.... Any suggestions would be most appreciated

Well here are my disaster duo from the weekend: Trial 1 - Kinta in Novice (first time)... anyone who has seen us work knows this girl has a pretty good heel pattern on her... well - she could have fooled me! Staying in position on the fig8 was optional, as was keeping up on the turns, particularly RAT as that meant to have a good look around.... full marks for everything else.. infact she would have passed with 188, but the turd dropped in her sit-stay.... grrrr... she seldom drops in a stay, although seems to be making a quick habit of it... and only in the ring mind you! Maybe her mum is giving her the death glare?!!!? Trial 2 - Leo - reasonable round, but nothing flash... he must have read your post Seita as he decided to go around the jump on the return on the ROH... *sigh* Such is life! Why, I have NO idea! Trial 3 - Kinta - crappy heeling again... admittedly it was hot, but just pretending that she had no idea what heel meant was for the taking today.... missed 2 stand... silly little thing... once again - everthing else was pretty good! This is just plain disheartening for someone who has a dog that can heel like there is no tomorrow.... why she was so flat I have no idea!

Glad to hear it hasn't changed much N! Except by the time we get up there... the red wine supply might be dwindling Well at the rate my two are going - we won't even get to cloud 5 in the near future
-
- yup - Ptolomy isn't sharing the space on Cloud 9 that's for sure! Well DD - seems you and I need to resurrect that thread
-
Go Midge!!!
-
they were horrible! Apparently the following are all optional exercises: *returning over the high jump with the d/b in your mouth (L) *Sitting during a 1 min sit stay (K) *Standing in heeling (K) *maintaining position in a fig 8 (K) I am sure you can see the steam coming from my ears from SA
-
Well done Barkly!!! Onto Basic 2!!! Congrats Ptolomy! My dogs aren't welcome in this thread.... time to resurrect the disaster thread methinks
-
Huge congrats to everyone!!! Go SW and Kiz!!!! Jess - sounds like you and Darcy also had a great day . Congrats to Arya and Tess once again on their achievements! WTG!!!! Forgot to add: Went herding yesterday and both of my dogs walked off with their HT titles . This makes Leo titled in 3 disciplines and Kinta 2 (hopefully soon to be 3!)... To top it off, we were also awarded runner up high in test!

as in Heather and Tess Glorybea - or one of yours?! Either way... CONGRATS!!!

Need Some Help With Healing
leopuppy04 replied to whitka's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Sniffing the ground :p He likes food (chicken breast and steak mostly). I can also get him revved up with tug - but it takes about 30s of tugging to get him eager and excited. He's more interested in the environment (mostly sniffing, other dogs, other people) than I'd like him to be. He's not one of those BCs that can stare at their owners for hours on end just hoping for a 2s tug or a chase of a ball! BTW - he's only 7mo - I think he's going through a stage I must make time to watch the Balabanov DVDs. Have you ever thought of using the premark principle?! I think you said you read CU?! How about playing a game of - guess what you tug with me and i'll release you to sniff.... over time the desire to sniff will diminish and the desire to be with you will increase (sorry, this is a terrible explanation, but what else can you do when your head is blocked!!! LOL!) It's very hard with a gundog to try and over-ride their desire to sniff - that's instinct... so try to work with it and see
