  1. LOL - who put a stop to the trade?! I thought it was a good bargain! Nobody would even know - they both have black and white bits
  2. Sorry Ness - no refunds, exchanges or 'change of mind' options here
  3. I guess we are asking for it aren't we... we are often told 'never work with kids or animals...' I think I'm beginning to understand. Rather than 'kids say the darndest things'... it's more like 'dogs do the darndest things'
  4. No - I think we need an 'extra points for creativity' clause in the rule book!!!!
  5. Hey PF - I refuse to take blame on her training.... it's all her I tells ya! ALL HER her handler is perfect (or is that Pawfect?!) (Leo sneaks in to say... nup, handler sucks!)
  6. hmmm... SW - that could have been a typo! The stories I've heard about some owners on DOL
  7. How about Kinta for Lexi or Scoota?!?!!? *nods head*
  8. In fact I will PAY you to take her off my hands! One Black Tri Aussie free to good home.... Supposed to be brilliant trialling dog in both agility and obedience. Will drive one insane if kept as performance dog, but will also drive one insane if kept as pet and given nothing to do We were sitting on a pass in obedience yesterday with a score of 192.... everything was going well and she'd given me some pretty good work (all of you victorians who I speak to might know what she likes to pull in the ring sometimes :D)... 10 seconds to go in the drop stay and oh... I just have this ITCH... right here.... uh yup... sorry mum, I just gotta SCRATCH it ..... But how can you be angry at her... in her mind she never 'left' the drop, she just lifted her front paws up enough to get a good scratch and went back to the drop... shall we add this to about 3 other novice trials where she has blown scores of high 180s - mid 190s on silly little things such as forgetting what 'stand' meant, lying down in sit stays, or doing a recall and then targetting a marker and sitting square on that instead Oh yes, laugh now, but when everything else is perfect and it's always something different..... I'm ready to bring out the firing squad So... who wants some fun?! When can I drop her off?!?!
  9. Congrats Superminty - I thought you did well
  10. Well - I've finally been re-instated to the brags thread. After a bit of a drought with no pass cards, Leo picked up a pass and 3rd place in Ex Agility today at Warringal. He also ran a bully round in open jumping. For a dog that really struggles with distance, I was so proud of him. His only fault was knocking a bar. Kinta ran well, but is a one fault wonder at the moment
  11. Choose to heel Kay Laurence Clicker Clips Patty Ruzzo *ponders* I will come up with more no doubt
  12. Does this: DICK VAN PATTEN'S NATURAL BALANCE Ultra Premium Chicken, Brown Rice, Lamb Meal, Oatmeal, Barley, Duck Meal, Potatoes, Carrots, Chicken Fat, other Differ to normal "NAtural Balance"?! Seems there are two companies under the one name?!
  13. Never had this problem except when I fed my dog a marrow bone cut lengthwise Feed them on raw now and havent' had that since.... Of course eating a bone that big is not good for the dog
  14. for those looking for a good australian brand of food - anyone heard of natural balance/ used it?! I think it still has cereals as it's first ingredient, but it is supposed to be all natural etc, etc.
  15. Kavik - I have found that with confidence the 2x2 gives you fabulous speed and excellent entries. The dogs totally understand what is being asked of them, and because the distance between the poles is reduced slowly, the dogs are able to maintain speed. One thing I have always done is if the dog slows - I open the poles a bit to encourage the speed. They also maintain the speed for the reward at the end. But isn't it great that we backchain - rather than say - here weave 12 poles, get the entry right, run fast and don't miss any... we can now say - here are 2 poles, enter them right and BAM - goodies. soon those 2 become 4 , so on and so forth. In the end, the dogs are roaring through just to get to the end to get their goodie .
  16. I do agree about the small opening and difficulty to clean etc . however I've found the opposite - I think they do get an instant reward when they tug/lick/ pick up the tug-it, and it's a great way to encourage tugging. I have found personally, with my own dogs, if they have one where they can grab the food themselves, they aren't terribly interested in learning how to tug, as it just becomes another dispenser of food. I love the tug-it because it is a great way of using the primary drive and get the dog to initiate tugging.... wel that's what I found
  17. Got my bags of artemis yesterday and am slowly switching my dogs over. Looks quite good. Spoke to Judith and she assures me that Artemis does not go under any irradiation or gassing. So there! Also - be careful with your Aussie products too. Spoke to a few people about this and there is a plant in Melb that does irradiate/ gas a lot of *australian* dry food also! So be careful with whatever you buy
  18. Yes - they aren't terribly strong 4 paws because of the mesh - however they would be pretty easy to replicate - just get some shadecloth and all you'd have to do is sew a pice together . I used mine for the first time last night and put some chicken chunkers in there. Mine is the advanced one, but it has already been pierced (but not enough to warrant it 'broken'... just so food comes out faster... smart dogs!). They absolutely loved it and really increased their drive to the 'dead' toy (mine previously would run to me rather than the toy lying on the ground when practicing training!).... A definite plus. I had several dogs steal it off me and tug with me, even though their owners professed they have never tugged before in their life So a definite 8/10 for me... the only downside is that because of the mesh, it doesn't last long at all
  19. Thanks Tailwag -I will keep that in mind... though if I had winds like at the Nat's (which I will since I live there!) I think I'll either drop the gazebo down or pack it away Were the sides blocking the wind from coming in, or trapping the wind *in* the gazebo?!
  20. Hey TO - just tell me when and where . I'd love to 'almost' own a toller !
  21. Interesting - the guys at the store said to put the sides up to stop the wind from coming in and getting underneath Either way - I think I'm going the Gazebo
  22. I have NO idea what you are talking about.... PF - I too understand your grief - I do think that there are many difficulties with trialling a *small* dog - but all those gripes that you mentioned, IMHO I think that they will also be seen on larger dogs too... a close heeling dog coming out of position will be just as obvious etc, etc. A neat handler can't be mistaken whether they handle a dog small or large. Likewise a good dog will always be a good dog irrespective of size
  23. some stuff I've collected over the years: **** If your Aussie has 2 mutant copies of the mdr1 gene, he/she could have neurtoxicity with some drugs. If he/she has 1 mutant copy and 1 normal copy, problems can occur.
