  1. No - a dog can only enter the weave poles with the first pole on their left side. Anything other than this is not a correct entry. They SHOULD however be able to weave from both of OUR left and right side.... Make sense? Dog can only enter the poles one way, but they need to be able to do it from either side of us
  2. Hi, My name is LP and it has been 2mths since my last CR shopping venture (not anymore!). I have since found out that I have a huge toy and lead fettish..... for the dogs of course. Someone asked me to let them know what toys my dogs liked and I had a heart attack when I was going through the list to see what we've actually tried and have at home  I need help!!!! I need a simple 3 step program to stop this addiction.... Personally I blame Laffi and Ness... I never really knew about these before they came along! Will anyone join me in my AA group?! Anyone else have this difficulty?!?!?! Well.... at least I'm helping the economy right?! At the moment, I'm wondering how I kept my bank balance positive over all these years
  3. I think I need to spend some time AWAY from their webpage I like the 3rd one, but my kids love the bunny tug
  4. The first one is pretty good, but I'm a big KL fan . There is nothing 'ground breaking' in it, but definitely a good read that CR mag looks good!!! Ok for jackpot toys - I think these: http://www.cleanrun.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...mp;ParentCat=22 http://www.cleanrun.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...mp;ParentCat=22 http://www.cleanrun.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...mp;ParentCat=22
  5. I will send you my order soon Laffi How nice of CR (we hope)!!! Oooh Ptolomy - that sounds tempting! Put me in line pls
  6. heidii - you are both doing awesome I hope you don't mind me making a few comments? *Don't face him front on - face side on - so he is either on your LHS or RHS *when he went to the contact without being told, don't tell him to get off - REWARD it - it's awesome as it shows he knows what you want and later refine that.... you want him bursting his guts to get there *You are doing great to get his interest in his toy A couple of things would be once he wins it - don't run to him, run away from him and perhaps have a 2nd toy on you. If you let him win and then run into him, it can also de-motivate the dogs *Rather than swishing it around in his face, how about dragging it on the ground a little?!?!?! hitting his paws with it etc?! *Don't pester with the toy - if he doesn't want it - hide it behind your back saying to him 'ooh where is it!? where did it go?!" and then whip it out again to wiggle it around the game. The dogs love this as if they don't chase it - it disappears!!!! *I also like to start training with a bit of a tug - it tends to switch the dogs into training mode and also increases motivation for the tug.... sometimes I won't pull the tug out again at all and other times I will use it again in training Just some pointers, but well done to you - it's coming along really nice
  7. That's on my list 4 paws oops - I did say I wasn't buying didn't I?!?!!?!
  8. While I use tennis balls as a reward for sure - the above reason is why I still try and motivate with a tug also combine both with a ball on a tug and you should get more interest.... if not - what is it about the tennis balls that he loves?! Can you incorporate that into another game (eg is it the chase etc)
  9. LP is a toy expert! I contacted CR to ask if they are going to have any free shipping soon. Will let you know as soon as they reply Not just toys laffi...... :D I don't think so!!!! Hey 4 paws - I suggest you don't come back in :D.... I've already been told off by several for elongating their lists
  10. I stole on of my dogs K9 cool coats RS on our 45deg heat wave It was like a fridge
  11. pretty much  I guess here is not the point where I say I got march issue delivered today?1?!?!
  12. Basically we steal your money and run away with the goods After all - we can't help it - we're addicted!
  13. are you SURE they aren't all for you Ptolomy  ETA - oi Laffi - how'd I get at the top of the list?!?!?!?!1
  14. RFP as in Rear flow pivot?! Do you stop when you do this PF or do you keep your feet moving?! How do you get dog to go over jump 3 with your closest arm pls PF? I used to do 'helicopter arms' so I'm always one for learning new things thanks
  15. What are you insinuating RS - that I shop on CR often?! Nah - I think CR should give us comission for promoting all their stuff  Whitty.... Nooooo I said nothing
  16. The octopus is great for encouraging tugging but not very durable. I really like the sheepy tail tug. The pocket tug is great for training The tassel tug is awesome, but get the large - all the small is, is less sheepy and just as long a rope.... not what I wanted the Skineeez sends my kids into an absolute craze!!! Leo nicks it from your hands. At a training day Leo nicked the sheepy mat froma friends pap..... no he doesn't usually do this
  17. we won't tell OK - time for the CR anon group!!! So far I think we have: Myself Laffi Ness.... I think between us we WOULD have the whole store
  18. *covers eyes with hand and peeks through fingers* *runs out* Your fleecy tugs are really good too whitty
  19. Ok so I won't sound like I'm singing Laffi's trumpet - she does make a good point and I do agree.... except with one thing I still wouldn't put a cue on any behaviour (including heel, drop, sit etc) until they are reliably doing it. If we stuck the cue on the behaviour while the dog is also being lured into position in an obedience sense, what's to say they won't pair the command with - food in hand, follow food and they aren't even paying attention to what their body does. Therefore, until the dog is offering the behaviour reliably and in one clean sweep (eg: a nice down following your hand signal/ food) then I would not add the command yet. I wouldn't be commanding 'down' while the dog is mugging your hand for the food..... for a variety of reasons Same with heeling - I won't be saying 'Heeeeeeel" while the dog is mugging my hand for the food. In fact the command is one of the LAST things to be added in Oh and definitely releasing from the plank will help. to introduce movement - be with him while he hits the 2o2o, take a step away - click - come back, reward and release... just as though you were teaching a stay. do that before you try and run past the dog
  20. Hmm... ness - might need to donate my wonder bar to you - mine don't like it that much
  21. Watching the FCI world champs would be a great place to start too  While I am a GD fan, he did say himself that a lot of our courses are buggers for him to be able to keep to his system. Not that they can't be done, but that they can be complicated to execute.
  22. My resistance is getting weaker and weaker TSD - from what I've seen the bunny fur is quite strong as in the tug itself, but the fur does come off easy. Perhaps try the 'sheepy tail tug'... that one is quite strong I have an inkling suspicion I will soon have the whole CR store in my house.....
  23. Well I respectfully disagree. For me it's not brainwashing and I'm still open to other ideas. But the GD/ SG system makes snese to me and that is why I use it. 3 simple rules that I can follow as a trainer. Now I don't think of myself as a good trainer or handler, and that is a detriment to my dogs, but I certainly don't see everyone who follows a GD/SG system as being 'brainwashed'. I don't think it's right in anyone's books to tell you if you are walking a course you are doing it 'wrong'.... unless they were saying "Oh this is how XXXX would handle", when they are completely wrong/ misunderstood..... I am sure you would feel the same if you were a GD supporter and someone said to you - oh that is completely wrong according to XXXX...... JMO
