Sorry Chezz - nope - good moving shots outdoors with a point and shoot . Because I am a beginner, I didn't realise that it would make such a huge difference in terms of taking photos indoors with my new 'heavy duty' camera
-
Thanks everyone! All food for thought. As for the panning - I thought it will make my photos worse . Sports mode had the photos set at ISO 800. Yup Tess - yesterday arvo at KCC - so pretty dull all around!
-
I thought the indoors might have been part of the issue as all other shows I've shot have been outdoors. The camera was set at ISO 800 but not sure on shutter speed. Appeture was about 4.0 -5.0 I think, depending on zoom (was using a basic 55 - 250mm zoom) So would you recommend shooting in Av or Tv next time?! I was a little concerned that I wouldn't be able to get good shots using this mode Was on AI servo, continuous shooting. Should I move with the dog, will this cause extra blur, or should I remain focussed on one point and start clicking when the dogs come past?! I did the latter for 90% of shots.

Some of you know I'm quite new to the SLR/ photography world - am still learning the ropes in a big way, so to speak. I have previously taken shots at shows, including movement shots with my old point and shoot. We had our club's open show today and with my showie busy with pups, I thought I'd go along and practice with my camera We were indoors and since I am still learning the ways of the camera, I set it onto 'sports mode' (assuming it would be good for movement shots), came home and was grossly dissappointed with the quality. Most of them are blurry or in focus, but the dogs feet are all blurry. I didn't get ONE shot that was as crisp and clear as I did on my P&S. Anyone know why this may be and what I can do to improve my shots?! I must admit - I was expecting at least a *few* good ones in there, since I usually get some nice ones on a P&S (really crisp and clear)

Haha - I am NOT having two puppies! Imagine the work

thanks everyone - we are loving every minute of them here - I don't know how we are going to say goodbye Cassie - final decisions won't be made till about 6 weeks or later. I think before then we'll have *some* idea of who could be potentials, but at the moment we are keeping whoever is pick.... although if my mother had a say, she wants the mismark Panday pups are going home at 8wks, so Queens birthday weekend. Bub - I gave you PANDA!!! I did heaps of Panda just for you!!!!! Weaning video tomorrow

kinta is a beautiful tempered, wonderfully structured girl. I love her to bits already. will you consider breeding her again? now is the wrong time for me, but 'd sure love a minikinta. Hmm.... do I want to live through all of her troubles again?!!? Sucker that I am, I'm loving every minute of this, so I will probably have one more litter out of her (we only planned for 2 anyway) if the breeder and vet think it's a good idea . Not sure when it will be, but probably within the next 3 years so that we can spay her and get on with the serious stuff of obedience and agility without seasons getting in the way

We have about 4 serious homes lined up, but nobody knows (including me!) which puppy will be theirs yet, as I won't make those decisions till they are older . We won't know until they are older what colour their eyes will be LOL - join the queue A2G - it's getting loooong !

Photo overload time! 2 weeks today and growing fast! they are harder to take photos of now as they keep moving about - guess it only gets harder from here eh?! First attempt was still on the couch, but when puppies thought that couch jumping might be a good game, we quickly moved to the floor Eyes and ears are beginning to open, but not fast enough for my impatient soul Due to popular demand - some pics Been a hectic week, so hopefully I'll get more on the weekend! Getting big! the two blue's: Ollie - 2weeks (aka BT male # 1) One of the harder ones to photograph. If he's away from a boob, he is NOT happy! Lacey - 2 weeks (aka BT girl # 1 ) a real sweetheart and a favourite of mine . Great markings and just loves her cuddles. She'll actually creep upto you and rest her head on your lap: Panda - 2 weeks (aka BT girl # 2) she's another sweetie who loves her cuddles. A fave with many: Piglet - 2 weeks (aka BT girl # 3) the only 1/2 decent photo I have of her She's a little like Ollie - a screamer when things don't go her way Polly - 2 weeks(aka BM girl # 1) another favourite of mine. she wouldn't sit still for me today - so I ended up with this shot, before she started walking towards my camers Misty - 2 weeks (aka BM girl # 2 ) she's a sweetie and another favourite of my mum ETA can't even get their ages right

Shaping- What Have You Taught?
leopuppy04 replied to Cosmolo's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Hehe - to me, while there is nothing wrong with luring to start with, it's not shaping, as the dog isn't experimenting to find out what the behaviour is, we are 'showing' them first... so to me, this is sucessive approximation, not shaping My understanding is that with correct training, the frantic offering of behaviours doesn't occur. I agree - My dogs seldom offer behaviours willy nilly - once they know a behaviour a cue is added - simple . Leo is a bugga to shape at times, so sometimes he does need the assistance . As for what we've shaped.... a lot of our tricks and most of our obedience and agility work. It's far too much to write out all individually, but I would say that at least 80% of our training is shaped initially. Some of our tricks i'll cheat and lure first, approximate later Leo is a shocker in terms of 'shaping' with his body and no object concerned. So for that reason I have to have a very clear, step by step plan ready before I start training a new behaviour -
ROFL - she was nicknamed "Piglet" on day 1 - and we haven't thought of a better name since
-
Dad named polly I found it confusing since "Ollie" already had a name Kinta's doing really well- she's a great mum but likes to tell strangers off for coming in the house Leo is happier now that mum has resumed obedience and agility Even Kinta wants to train again
-
NC - nope they all have names now I posted their names on my website and my blog. I'll be curious to see how many keep their names
-
Yup GB - she's aptly named "Panda" and a mismark coz she has too much white Which invariably means she'll have tonns of character and be everyone's favourite I've told dad he can't fall in love with Panda
-
here ya go - my photo for today Sisters make the best pillows: mothers give good cuddles:
